Some big breaking news surrounding Jerome Louis, the West Tigers skipper. Right now he's in Papua New Guinea, touring the facilities of the new team, the Chiefs. It's understood he's in the company of their CEO, Lorna McPherson,

and their general manager of football, Michael Chamas. Now it's interesting, Jerome Louis has a clause in his contract where he can activate a new deal with the West Tigers up until April 30. Right now though, he's a free agent, so he could sign a contract with the Chiefs to be their first player to sign with the club and then also activate the clause with the Tigers

so he can play 2027 with the Tigers, and 2028 he could play for the Chiefs. This is a major story, one that we'll be following on all our platforms over the next 24 hours or so. He hasn't signed a deal, but if he does,

obviously he'll become probably the highest earner in the NRL because he's currently on around $1.2 million a year with the West Tigers. If he had that similar contract with the Chiefs, that would equate to around $2.2 million because of the Papua New Guinea tax-free that would equate to around $2.2 million because of the Papua New Guinea tax-free situation over there.
