A little bit.Vegas Ball and all that type of stuff.

It's hot and cold today, man.It is, it's a little hot.It's a little hot today.Stole my man out.Listen, listen.
The Superstars never wore the logo, right?
They had just a regular white, little country white spit up over there, like, wait a minute. So I gotta wear the logo for my fans?Yeah, you gotta wear the logos.Just say the NBA sucks. No, it's awesome.
Just say the NBA sucks.
But hey, man, listen. They not.No, no, no.I mean, your NBA sucks. He gotta wear the logos.
We logo people. We gotta wear the logos.I'm not getting checks like y 'all, man.Like, you got the...Stripes.Ain't no WWE logo on my socks.
Nothing like that.Ain't no wave sports on my socks.

Get started freeWe good, Kaz.I know we good.I know we good.Like I said, the bullshit levels. On today's episode, it's through the roof, man.Oh, man.
Let's talk some hoops. Before we talk some more bullshit, all right?Great young talent, you know what I'm saying, in the summer league so far.A .J.DeBancia, Darren Peterson, Kayla Wilson, Cam Boozer.
I was out there for a little bit, you know what I'm saying?I caught some of the games.Talk to me, besides all that, the biggest news to come out of that.Tyler Herro, bam out of bio.You know what I'm saying?Running into each other.
Well, I think one person ran into the other.Literally.Literally.Fist was thrown.Oh, you ain't hear about this?
No.
You didn't hear about this. All right, so Tyler Hero apparently was on a burner talking about, you know what I'm saying, bam out of bio and saying like, you know, for what he's getting paid, he should be able to do X, Y, Z, ah, ah, to some regular random dude on Twitter. He gets traded. All them screenshots get posted. He's posting from the burner, like basically saying, like, yeah, I know, like, you know, yes, this is my burner. This is mine.
You know what I'm saying?Next thing you know, first day in summer league in Vegas, commotion, bam out of bio, Tyler Herro apparently get into it, man. What are your thoughts on that, Gil?I know you've seen it.I know you've spoken about it.
I'm going to just be honest, because I'm a guard.
Yes.
Right?
Yes.
I don't like when big man hit guard.Okay.You already know we can't fight. We all lippin' in here.
Were you biased?Huh?Were you biased?Yes!You can't fight?No, I mean, I can fight.
I can fight my size. That's what I'm saying.
I believe in yourself.
My size.I'm not fighting big men.Your job is to protect. We the little ones.We just run our mouths. That's what we do.
Y 'all do the physical. So you coming all the way to summer league to put your hands on me? I don't respect you no more. No, we're not friends no more. We're not friends no more. We wasn't friends when you sent that text out. But that's what I do. No, that's you. You're saying that's Tyler Herro or that's Gilbert Arenas? Yes, that's Tyler Herro. You see my punching video, you know I don't do this. So you can just give me the look and you know I'm already standing there. I'm scared. Yeah, as soon as you walked in the building, you see, ah, yeah. Ah, shit, my bad. You know what? Hey, look, I ain't never gonna see you like this, Playboy. I ain't know this was gonna happen.
My apologies, good sir.I feel that.

Mm -hmm, mm -hmm.No, when he sent the tweet? It had to be sometime during the season.Oh, this him punching?Yeah, our boy.
That nigga was just talking, man.Leave him alone, dog.He don't mean nothing by that.He don't mean nothing by that. That was terrible. He need to get a gun.
I know what I did as a freshman, as a rookie and sophomore. If Chris Mills, Danny Fordson, Mark Jackson, if they ever hit me with they power, we're not friends no more. Now we're enemies, now I gotta do something to you for real.
You done said some shit in your time, you done did some shit in your time, not to somebody that you spent eight years with, that we done been in the bunker with, that we done went to the Eastern Conference Finals and Finals and like We've been trying to get this, we've been the lone wolf over here ourselves while the rest of the league is moving on.How can you put that out there?Like how are you talking to a random nigga?A random person is crazy.
That is wild.
But I'm supposed to be random too, that's why I'm on the burner.
I'm supposed to be random too.Y 'all just leaked this shit.Y 'all just figured it out randomly.
The thing is too though, to be like, also, that is my burner.Nigga never admit to it.Never gonna admit.
By the way, that was, I mean, you meant this from the joint.I'm like, damn, that's not the point of the burner. But that means you meant it.
If you gotta go to the burner to tell a story.
Listen, I get, but Bam, you know you can whoop me.You know this.So for you to just put it into action, like you really hate me like this?
There's certain people that got these certain triggers, man. When you're talking about somebody don't deserve the money they getting paid. But you got it though.
I think it's more deeper than...
But you got it.Like it's in your pocket. So whatever I say don't matter.
It ain't about the money, bro. Then what is it about?I just told you what it's about, nigga. We just did eight years together, nigga. This is me and you, nigga. But you gonna hit me?
Yeah, I'm gonna beat the shit out of you.I can't fight neither.I'm gonna get a gun.
We gonna fight, fight. He hit me.We got a problem.

Why you hitting me with all your strength? Why you gonna fight? You bigger than me, nigga. We're the same.I'm bare.
I'm bare.Yeah, you're bare.I ain't shooting, nigga.I'm gonna shoot you.
You're the nigga I ain't shooting.
It's different.
I think it was a bullshit.I'm gonna be honest with you.I just think that.it ain't have to go there.Keep the tweets to yourself, man. I feel like every player that got interviewed afterwards. That was a good guy though.
Like why everybody don't like Ben?Because he scored 83?
I don't know why.
That's crazy.
Kobe fans don't like Ben because he scored 83.That was wild. That was wild.I mean, every basketball playerwas interviewed after that joint all said how normal this is, how much teammates fight backstage or in the locker room. That's not normal.
Okay.
That's not normal.Well, okay. What's normal is guys will go say things behind closed doors to other people, but it never got out to the public because it wasn't like social media, you know what I mean?Like nobody was putting that shit out.If you wanted to handle something, You met the nigga in the back. You went to the bus like Chris Bills.
You did shit like that. Now, anything is being leaked. So why would you even go there? My point is, why would you even go there if you know you must want this to get leaked?Do you really truly feel like this about it that you've been with eight years and we've been trying to figure this shit out for eight years. And now you think after all this time, I'm going against you to get you out of here?
So you felt this way the whole time we was playing together. You felt like I wasn't worth it.You felt like I wasn't.My value wasn't shit. You get what I'm saying? That's just not how you handle that.
That's supposed to be your guy.Go holler at your man.Talk to him.
Lord knows how many times they tried.Let's get this shit clear before we leave.Lord knows how many times they probably did try to talk it out.And you know, I got to shoot Bam some bail.I don't want him to look like somebody who just hauls off of hooks, people.Who's to say that?
But you also got to look at personnel though.just wasn't working no more.
Bam is a great guy. He's a great guy, so for him to take it there, that said something. That said something.

Get started freeThey been beefing.Nah, they probably wasn't beefing, but he probably, just like anything, you my guy, right?Bam, them two was guys, so the fact that you said it is the problem. It ain't got nothing to do with nobody else.If Norman Powell said, I just met this nigga last year, you know what I mean?We cool, you know what I mean?
But we've been in the trenches together. We've done talk.We done had dinners.Family know each other. So the fact that you did it, that becomes a problem.
And Wiggins could have said it.It wouldn't have meant nothing. It wouldn't have meant nothing.Right, right, right. It's the fact that it's you, my guy.And nowadays, what's happening is social media and just all of that world, You have to stand on what you say.
You're being approached off of what you say.So if you're out here just saying shit, you gotta be willing to receive and accept what comes with that.As players too, from other players. You get what I'm saying? That's the life we in now. That's the society we in.
Stand on what you say.No.He like, fuck that.
He's like, no.Nah, because I done said a lot of shit.I don't want to stand on that.Nah, never.I'm telling you, stand on that shit, man. I'm telling you.I've said some shit about Kat.
I'm not standing on that if you pull up.
No, I didn't mean that.I didn't mean none of it.Hey, I'm so sorry.You's a champion.I've meant none of it.I was bullshitting.
You're fast like that.I was bullshitting.I'm so sorry.Sure.I was wrong.
Nah.No, no, Tyler, he wrote out, like, when seasons start, man, and y 'all play the man, you gotta slap him.Yeah.Oh!Oh no, open hand.As soon as they getting ready to jump ball, you just want to, just get out of there.
You done.We done all seen it.We're going to run with the narrative. You beat them up.That's it.
So I can hit and run is good.
Hit and run is fun.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.Hit and run is fun.Get out the way.
Everybody ain't gotta be tough, man.
All right, all right. On the court in Vegas, all right.Gotta talk about some of the standout players in the draft this year.Demantia, Caleb, Cam.Out of all those players, who's impressed you the most so far?Malik Thomas.
Talk about it.
Because while we expect, they should be playing well.AJ, Boozer, Darren Peterson, Caleb Wilson.By the way, he's my sleeper in this draft. He's been my sleeper since high school, in that class. What I'm saying is Malik Thomas, right?Somebody who shouldn't have left, in my opinion, in my opinion, shouldn't have left Arkansas, shouldn't have left school early, but took a gamble and a bet on himself.

Get started freeYou know what?I believe in my craft.I believe in my skill.I believe in my work ethic.I just want to get there. There's different strategies to getting there.
I just want to get there. And when I get there, I'm going to show you why I wanted this so bad." So he came out up against the wall, up against the eight ball.Drafted second round, could have been a top 20 pick.Up against the eight ball, drafted second round. Now you get an opportunity to play in the summer league against all these niggas who just went before you.
And he's showing up.He's playing basketball. He's out there hooping and really proving himself.Whereas these other guys ain't gotta prove themselves.
They just gotta play good.Hey, this Summer League, it's one game for them.
Well, he gotta, every day means something for him.You get picked 34, 30, every day, something means something to you and to those people. So for you to take that and go in the Summer League and have the Summer League let you do it, like, I take my hat, I truly take my hat off to you.
I'm really timeless, man.Absolutely.What about you, Gil?Anybody caught your eye in the Summer?Same.
Like, I mean, I'm Caleb. We got the same people.Like, Caleb, when I first seen his skill set, I was like, I might pick him number one.Like, for sure top three because he can play five, four, three.Right? The way he moves his attributes, he got the one -on -one game, you know, fades.
Like, I'm watching like, yo, he can, like, he cover a lot of positions. So, when you're talking about drafting, you can pick him at the five.Get a five and play him at the four.Get a four, play him at the three. So he can play three different positions. But I do like, you know, young kid from, you know, Arkansas, his only problem was with his skill set.
If you go into the draft, and you can't go against somebody else, and you got to work out by yourself, that's the downfall.Five on five, one on one, that's his skill set.So him playing in summer league, he's going to thrive.Him going in a workout and everybody going to dodge him.Like if you're a top -five pick and you know he's a one -on -one guy, you ain't working out with him.He dangerous.
Yeah, so you're gonna dodge him and every time he can't work out with somebody, he gonna slip.Because now it's just him and his ability and everybody's like...But that's what the yolkage is and all of them slip for because they're five -on -five guys. They're one -on -one guys.So if you can't get that body inside that workout, it makes you look bad.
Is that more on the fall of how players are evaluated though?Because it feels like guys like that slip through the cracks all the time where it's like we see them kill and then it's draft time and it's like oh he's not really tall enough or he doesn't have the right wingspan whatever it is and then it ends up having a bunch of gms and a bunch of front office guys lose their jobs because a guy like that but that's why i hate the draft process because you can't like it's college basketball right so it's
was a top tier point guard, how many other top tier point guards did you play against in your position?Right? Some of you played none.So you're coming in with your college status into this workout, right?I'm a top tier guard.I want to show you that I'm better than you.
You're going to dodge me the whole time.Shit, I'm a dodging person that's trying to get me.So we've never been tested actually in real life yet, right? So what ends up happening is you get, you don't know who's who.You don't know who has heart. You don't know who's a gamer, right?
All I'm going through is these little workouts.I'm going to put you through that has no impact on real basketball. Are you going to sit here, do a little jab, right?I'll be like, oh, he really got no skill. And he might be a one on one phenomenon.Right.
Right. But I would never know that because my workouts is not dedicated to what your skill level is.So we don't know who's who until you put him in a game and be like, maybe I made a mistake.OK, maybe he's not that guy.So it's like, I mean, you can see who can be a flop. And you can see, all right, he could be a steal because he gets to this system or he got on this team, they gonna know how to use him.
But for the most part, most teams don't know what the hell they're doing anyway.Right?
You just draft in talent.Yeah.Especially at that level.Like if you top five, then yeah, you know how you implement in that top five pick into what you have going on.Outside of that, it's like hit or miss. You might find a couple from six to 10.
You might find a couple from 10 to 20.those become gems. And at that point in time, I got to draft the best, you know, what's the best of the rest off of what I know.Okay.I know Malik works hard.I've seen him.

Get started freeI've witnessed him because of the amount of content that is out around him about his work ethic. So now I can take a chance at 30 something because there's no pressure on me as an organization. If it don't work,it's cool.If it works, then I got a diamond in the rough.Right?
So it's always those two sides of it.Got you, got you.
Cam, you see any sort of parallels with that, with like being on SNL and being on the team that's like, or being on a show that's so established and being, I guess, not a rookie, but one of the younger guys on the team having to prove yourself every time he get a skid or every time he get a chance on the show?
Yeah, for sure.I mean, I think it's anything where you're doing something on the lines of like professionally, trying to come in and everybody's already like really good at the thing, you know what I'm saying? And then trying to like make everybody know like, I can also I can also do it, you feel me?So yeah, I mean, it's kind of the same thing on the lines of like, I'm also good at this.I can do it.I promise I can do it too.
I'm new, I'm very new at the situation, but I can get it done.Trust me, you got the right guy. It's kind of, yeah, for sure though.
That's how it is.All right, man.So yo, Gil, I don't want to, you know, not address the elephant in the room anymore, you know what I'm saying?Getting you on for sports media probation, you know what I'm saying?Back into the joint. What happened with underdog, man?
What happened with girls in real life? What's going on, man?We gotta know.I gotta put my journalism hat on, man. I gotta get the scoop.
What is...
What happened to the show?I wasn't on probation.Okay.
Okay.It was just like court was happening.I just walked out.I got to take this shit.
No, they tried to put, I was just, I just walked out.
Right.
You know what I mean?Like, well, you already know the result.
I just walk out, but I already talked to the judge.Okay.He said nothing was going to happen, man. I ain't got to listen to this shit. You know what I mean?
I already paid my money. So I ain't got to listen to none of this up in here.Right.So, so what happened was this when, when that case happened, right. When the case happened, um, we just, we, we got together.dude that was responsible for what was going on and it was basically my contract was coming up.
Yeah. So, it was basically, we're going to negotiate you. We're going, we're going to negotiate while you, while, while you on the floor.Yeah.Right.So, it was basically like a, it seemed like a, just a takeover.
Oh, yeah.
So, we started off number one show, number one basketball show, right? We go from four days, thinking we're about to get five days, go to two days.Right? So it was basically this big standoff. So it's like, all right, this is how y 'all want to play? And it was like, yeah, you know, this is part of negotiation.

I'm an athlete. This is what I do.I like this type of back and forth. So I thought we was family. If you're going to let the dude come in, I know how this is going to end. He's not smart enough in this tactical realm to go against me.
Because if they fire me, I get all my Gills Arena rights.Cause once we're done, I get my Gills Arena rights and I didn't want to wait to June 31st.Right.So I wanted you to do in May and then, cause once May came and you did it, y 'all are fired.Yeah.All y 'all fired the day after.
You went to them earlier?Who?Did you go to them earlier and say that you was ready to be done?Underdog? No, no, no, no.See, this was an underdog.
Oh, this was that dude.Oh, that they brought in.Like the dude that just came in.So because he wanted to negotiate, I just, I, I negotiate the way I negotiate.Who you negotiating with it?I go straight to them.
Hey, listen, when I end, I have the rights to Gill's arena. So what you want to do?Well, we're going to go with you.I bet.And I said, Hey, just keep negotiating with him.I need to see who he really is. I want to see who the cast is when they think I'm out.
My enemy's enemy.
Yeah.So I just sat back with all the raises in my pocket.just sitting there.Oh, you want to keep shouting them out, huh?Oh, you keep shouting out, but wait, hold on.You're going to keep shouting, like, I don't mind the underdog.
Me and the underdog are cool. You keep shouting out that name. That name is the enemy. And I told you he's the enemy. And you're going to keep shouting them out, not realizing you go there, you're dead, because he dead.
And then you talking about, I want to, you know, name specific names, talking about...
Cemetery Larry, he in the cemetery.Cemetery Larry, I like that.I got his raise right in the pocket. Now I got to give it to somebody else. Now I got to give everything he worked for, I got to give it to somebody else because the person he went with, he gots nothing. He in the grave, he next to you.
Y 'all both buried in the same place.I knew I would like you.
I knew I would like you because you petty as hell. You petty as hell.Yeah, this is good.
If everybody think you out, Right. You really got to see who they are.Right.They're telling me, oh, yeah, if you if you don't want to negotiate, don't come to work. That was the plan to come to work anyway.God damn it.
I'm building a new studio back in the crib.
OK.Now, August, the plan to bring Gills Arena back independently.I know you spoke about that. That's still still a go.See, it was going to be August because I wanted to jump them.
Right.Right.Because they was going to come back like September, October. So I wanted to start in, you know, uh when they was on vacation to take the time slot from them okay because they're not gonna want to compete now they fired like damn so you know what i mean like they fired you know what i mean so nobody from girls arena is coming back it's just you they I don't know, man.
Josiah.
Okay.Shout out Josiah.You know what I mean?That's my guy.

You gotta remember, I had the contract since January, bro.And I didn't...I was recruiting.Right, because I thought it was going to last, because their contract is in September. So I figured that they would be held all the way to September. So I was like, all right, let me get my people.
I saved some of the staff members that got fired from the new dudes.
Right, right. But the actual rotating cast, like everybody's going, Kenyon, Nick, Rashad.Okay.Definitely Rashad.Okay.
Parted ways or got fired? That's different.
They got fired.Right.I just stayed home hoping I would get fired. So they had to stop the show that day.Oh, they got fired from the company.
Yeah. Not from.Yeah.So not from Gil himself.I'm trying to clear that up.No, no, no.
I didn't.
I didn't.I didn't fire.They left me.And then they got fired.Then they got fired from the company.Yeah.
So, you know, like, you know, when you when your girl cheat on you.Yeah.Right.And then when your girl cheat on you and you be like, damn. And she go with the other dude. And then the other dude got a wife.
I'm sorry, baby.
You know what I mean?
They just stuck with the egg on their face. You know what I mean? That's what that is. I ain't fucking with you.
I ain't fucking with you, Jay.
Nah, man. I know they still had to do their job, but I wanted to see where the loyalty was.
Was there anything specifically, you said Rashad specifically, was there anything that he specifically did that let you know, like, I really can't?

He tried to fire you at the beginning of the season. He tried to fire you at the beginning of the season. That's why they were trying to like Skip was getting paid for four days.He was only there three. One was going to be our show. And that was to replace him because they both contrarian.
They both go against it.But they said Skip does a better job.cuss.He don't drop the end bomb every other hour.So they're looking for these sponsors. So they're trying to fire you.
Me and Joe standing on 10 toes.Nah, we good. We're good with our roster. We're number one with our roster, right? So what they did is like, all right, well, Joe and Gil ain't breaking.Hey, Rashad, you want to play?
You want to go to the football?Yeah, come on.Football on Friday.Yeah, do a little football. So you're going to jump on the football. Then they're like, hey, can Skip come on the show with you?
We could do that on Friday too. Then they do an episode with Skip on Friday. And he's like, oh man, me and Skip. And so they did that to him.But I'm like, yo, dude never did anything. Why are you going with dude?
I told you we had beef and we at war. He's trying to take over Guill's arena. So you giving him shout outs, three of them.So I'm like, all right, I told you we beefing with him.So the fact that you, in your shout out, it ain't underdog.Me and underdog, we good.
Jeremy, Jeremy, Nick.Like, Kate, those are beautiful people. They just hired a dude who was just a weed, right? And he kept shouting this dude out.It was like, all right, okay, y 'all got something going on.He done promised you something, I bet.
Got you, got you, okay. That's understandable, man. I get it, I get it.This is a dirty business, boy.Shit.Like, me and Shah didn't have no problems.Like, I didn't have no problem.
Like, what he did is what he did. It's just that, you know, why are you, like, him, like, why are you picking him over us?y 'all haven't spoken since nah okay how could you do that though like i understand where he's coming from i mean listen you might want to hear him out no no no no what i'm saying is if if it was underdog like giving him uh a better position to say an underdog in germany like yo you know yeah we want you as a star i know how it goesThis shit you did for four years, you deserve your own show and all this. That's understandable. But you, I told you, I have a problem.
Me and Joe, he's trying to fire us.He tried to fire you.We beefing because of you, technically.Because we not letting what was going down, go down.We not integrating. This was player podcast, right?
So we're standing down for you.So for you to pick his side, that became a problem. But you knew that, and you purposely doing it now.
Yeah.
It's sad, man.

Cam, you walk into a new, into a show with 50 years, I would say of just history.Did you feel any imposter syndrome, like your first day on the set?
Yes and no.It was like a thing of like, I wasn't like, at first it was, it was more of like a, man, I, I was trying to be more nonchalant about the situation. You know, I'm supposed to be a doctor, this and that. And then when it got to the point where I see how talented everybody else was, I was like, oh yeah, I don't.I think for like a week, I was kind of questioning myself. But the dope thing about what they did was they let me do the update the very first episode, so I kind of got it out of the way quickly, and then I got more comfortable in the space.
And that's why I think I got to be able to understand and shine more in what was going on at SNL.It's insane when you think about, I drive down a Hollywood Boulevard in LA and shit, and every billboard is like, Somebody from SNL.Mm -hmm.I'd walk through those hallways and see those people. It's like, oh shit Like I'm a part of some like a family.Yeah, like a crazy like alumni.
I'm an SNL fan, like I've watched it my whole life and there's like specific spots that folks get on SNL when you know like, alright.he's going to be somebody to watch out for.You know what I'm saying?Like when you get that weekend update spot, like with no character and it's like, we're just going to let Cam Patterson talk for like five minutes. That's a, that's a, that's a massive look, especially for your first show. No, it was crazy.
And it, and it, and it slowly like got better. The first one I watched it back and I'd be like, well, I couldn't read for shit.I've been fighting for myself on air podcast.I can read good.I can read really good, bro.But you know what I'm saying?
Like I'm, I'm good at talking.Talking like this is great. It's easy. You know what I'm saying? But then they put like a paper, and then they be like, all right, now read that and act like you talking.
That's different.
That's not the same thing.Because then it's pausing and shit. You don't really do unless you reading. You know what I'm saying? So trying to do all that, it was different. It was a very different thing.
But it's fun, though.I figured it out.I slowly started to figure it out.I didn't get to where I wanted to get good at it yet.Like, I ain't lying. You feel me?
But next year, hopefully I can.So do you write your own scripts?A lot of writers try to help me out, because I'm not going to lie to you, dawg. That computer there for sure for me.They gave me an office, and I got a computer, but you feel me?It's there.
And I appreciate them for giving me one, but if they didn't give me one, it would have been the same season.
Nothing would have changed. The best part about that is, there's so many of y 'all, comedians that's back there, and y 'all just in the writing room all week.Hell yeah. You know what I mean?To me, that would be some dope shit to just sit in the room with a bunch of writers and just, let's just see who can write the funniest shit, right? And whoever's the funniest, this is what comes out of that.

Get started freeAnd we gonna put that on screen. It's dope to be around a bunch of creatives like that.
Like everybody is so creative in their own way.And we locked in there all night on Tuesday. It's from like four o 'clock to like, some people don't leave till like five.three in the morning. Some people sleep there. You feel what I'm saying?
So it's like, I mean, it's ideas flowing the whole night, which is coming from stand -up is so dope.Cause I usually it's just me, like I'm by myself. And so that's another thing too, like understanding like, oh, like I got a team now, which is nice. They find a writer that can like take the crazy shit that's in my head.and put it on paper is like the best feeling. That's the difference.
Yeah.I mean, we have a lot of we have a lot of dope comedians that come on the show. And, you know, the way you broke out was so unique from the from the Kill Tony sort of world and basically like that sink or swim sort of like, oh, you got to you got to body this or like it's a rap for you.And then going to the most the longest established like entertainment, whatever, in Saturday Night Live.I know there's gotta be some sort of shift as far as like, all right, I came in in this very unconventional way, and now I'm going to this institution of television, you know what I'm saying? How has that sort of shift been for you when it comes to being on there every week?
I think, man, for me, it's just the biggest thing is just trusting God and understanding I am supposed to be there, you know what I'm saying, and I can.I mean, I ain't get that for no reason, you know what I'm saying? So just understanding I am for it, you feel me?And so I can, I guess, get my voice on the show and get a place of like, you know what I'm saying, understanding what's going on in that space.
I guess to add to that, it's not just being funny, it's like, you got Eddie Murphys, you got, you know what I'm saying, Adam Sandler, you got Chris Rocks, just legends, you know what I'm saying? It's more than just, you know, funny people go on the show all the time. There's certain folks where it's like, oh, you are destined for greatness in the joint, you know what I'm saying? How does that sort of add to being on the show?
Same thing, bro.I really think just trusting in God, bro.You feel me?Go back to the question of the Imposter Syndrome thing. It's so many great names. It's our name and everybody that's been a part of the show in all these years and stuff.
If I don't have that faith and believe in myself, you feel what I'm saying, I couldn't walk through those hallways and I couldn't do the thing.Same thing with y 'all. When y 'all were hooping, you had to believe in yourself more than anything. You feel what I'm saying?
Is it, out of those names, those alumni names, the Eddies and the Kenans and the Fizzrocks and all of those guys, is there a blueprint that you look at them and say, you know what, I wanna follow this blueprint?
Eddie, for sure, like his career path and everything he did, like movies and stuff like that. But on the show, I mean, Kenan is, I mean, he's the GOAT.Like when it comes to SNL, though, like being able to learn from him every day of the week is a, I mean it's a true blessing to be able to watch how he working.Sometimes they'll have like a sketch that's like bombing, like on every read -through, and it's like a Keenan line that just saves the whole thing.I don't think Keenan gets enough credit. He don't, he don't, he don't.
He's so, but he's so good.Like I mean, and it's like, you can see it on the show.
Like Keenan's been making a fuss since all that, you know what I'm saying, since Keenan and Kel.
But Keenan got on SNL when I was Four years old.
You feel me?
I've been saying that my whole life.My entire life.He was in shit, I forgot he was in.That nigga did Snakes on the Plane. He was in Snakes on the Plane, nigga.
He was a heavyweights too, was a heavyweights?
He was everywhere.Legend, legend.
Do you you ever reach out to those not outside of Keenan cuz you around Keenan Yeah, but like the SNL alumni do you reach out to them to get advice anything?

Get started freeNo, not yet Okay, I see my running tool. That'll be one thing but not not.
Yeah, not really I'm not I mean, I think I should do but I don't know I don't does it feel like does SNL kind of In many ways is the NBA draft and like SNL sort of like resembling just in your opinion, you know, I'm saying like how every year there's like a new crop of folks that like join SNL and like, you know, there's veterans in SNL and there's people that are longer and you know, that's it.Pause, like people have been on this show for a time.
It's part of your dictionary.
I mean, but do you like kind of see the parallels as far as like SNL being like this sort of Pro League of comedy where like you get on there like you essentially get drafted on to the show You know what I mean?
And like you have rookie years and veterans and so people come and go mega stars all that Yeah, it makes stars and get brutal Veterans all that I could see that.I mean I could see that for sure.
Mm -hmm So they already have they pick like if this if it's a draft in an SNL world new and upcoming comedians you meaning somebody already have they pick out of that group of that new class that's coming in about who they want to make a star, because SNL makes stars.
I think it's more of like, at the time we got to line up too though, because if somebody like is blowing up and is going super crazy, it's like sometimes it wouldn't make sense to go, you feel what I'm saying, straight to SNL or something like that. But I think, I mean, they do all like, they do the showcases and stuff like that, you feel me?
How do you turn SNL down though?
Huh?How do you turn SNL down?Shit, I almost did.I was about to ask you like, there's a lot of comedians out there.
popping on their own and independently and don't, you know, necessarily mean it.
Yeah, I mean, I had my own little thing going, and it was just like, it was more of a fear thing.I was more scared than anything. That was more my thing.Right.Cause it's just so different. You just said hell no, because you was scared of SNL.
They came and I was like, I don't know. What the fuck y 'all talking about? Yeah, my brother, that's the first, my manager was like, yeah, they, uh, They want you to do all this."And I said, well, they ain't gonna give me the job, nigga. And then they gave it to me and I was like, I don't know about shit. I don't do no shit like this. I'm not a sketch guy. You feel me? And like I said, nigga, we got to read, bro. And I love reading. It's great. Readin' is good.I also want niggas to think like, oh Cam can't read.I can fuckin' read. And I can read well.
I'm just sayin' it's a big part of the job. That's a huge part of the job.Like Marcello, brother, funny shit.We was on, I did a movie known as 72 Hours. We was movin'.And he was like, they was like, would you do SNL with that ass?
And I was like, you know, I said I would do it.And he just went, nigga, can you read? And I said, I can read, bitch.I can read good. And then I got it, and I was like, well, this is different.
Wait, so wait, wait, wait. You did the movie before you got SNL?Yeah, I was like, oh, OK.Yeah, yeah.OK, I thought it was all right.
No, no, no.I got an audition at the end of the movie.Oh, snap.OK.Yeah, which I thank them boys for everything, dawg, Marcello and Whitman. What'd you learn from K -Hart on that?
I think y 'all need to switch seats. Why? This leather is fucking him up, bro. What? Like, I don't know if he's sliding and holding on. What? No, I'm saying. I'm like, your abs must be strong as shit. You just slide. I keep saying I'm like, yo, you ain't got skulls. You just slide, dude. We've talked about this. I'm a slouch regardless. I'm a slouch on the couch. I don't know if it was the leather that's just helping him slide. He's just holding on for dear life.
Oh my god!I'm moving like...Nigga, you got a record. So I can see you.

I'm like, wait, hold on, man.You good?You good?I'm chilling.I can't sit like this.You know how I'm sitting?
It's uncomfortable, man. I'm like, man, this man got some strong ass ass, man.He talking and shit and just holding, just going. He is talented.Come on.I can't sit like this?
This is a good seat.
Oh, man. I'm a sloucher.72 hours, man.My question was for you to slouch and shit. What did you learn from working with K -Heart on that set?
His work ethic. That's the work ethic.I didn't want to ask him so many, I didn't want to bother him with questions, because the situation was like, I'm such a big fan of his, you feel what I'm saying? And so I didn't want to just bombard him with a million questions every day, but being able to watch how he worked was insane, dawg.Like, I mean, we got early shoes, and we, first of all, the biggest thing to me is like, he memorized everything. He got a memory of like an elephant, like he'll be like, he'll be doing something like, totally different, like making business calls, something like that, having AirPods in the whole time, and then he'll, Go from that, look at the script for two seconds, and then get it down like immediately.
And it was like, I mean, and then how he treated everybody on set, dawg. You know what I'm saying?I had my first movie.
He ever talk to you while he on the phone?Like talking to you while he on the phone?Yeah, yeah, yeah.I got you, Ken.
It's like, what's happening? How did you do it, nigga? It's like, yeah, what's happening right now?But then that nigga, yeah, his work ethic is crazy, bro. That was like the main thing I picked up from him, like how he worked.Hey man, you know, he working good.
He is awesome.older, so you know.I mean, y 'all older and shit, so I'm sorry.Nah, I ain't that young. But the thing is, we don't fight that.
Yeah, he fighting it.We cool with it.He fighting it.I'm almost 40.
You 60?
60.
You 60?
I don't know, I'm not during it.You almost 60?Nah, bro, I'm 38.38, bro, my eyes.It's the beer, it's the grace.Yeah, you don't have to let that go.
For sure.
I for sure thought you was older than me.
Yeah, bro.I gotta hit the rewind, son.I gotta hit that.Yeah, you gotta keep it low, man.You should diet.

I'm not gonna be looking younger than you.
I would've gave you 46.46?I would've gave you 46.Damn, son.I would've gave you 46.Let her go.
Let her go.
She's stressing you out. She's stressing you out. She's stressing you out.Yeah, you 46.You need to go 45.46 is a sick number, bro.
Yeah, next season I'm about to look fucking 20.I'm doing it.Yeah, yeah, you got it.I'm getting the GOPs, I'm doing all that shit, watch.I'm doing everything, watch.I'm getting all the science.
I'm coming back with the 22.Mad at y 'all.Yo, Melo and Gale ain't the only hoopers over here, though, man.We gotta go through some game tape, Cam.Okay.We gonna break something down.
Oh yeah, let's break down some of your - We don't gotta do this. Some of your game right quick. We don't gotta do this real quick. All right.
The Hezzy pull up.I like the left hand. No, okay.Y 'all see the jump of that. It's there. It's there.
The jump of that.It's there.It's there.Come on now.It's there.Potential.
Potential.
Okay, here we go.What's up?What's up?
Lefty.
Oh.Oh, yeah.
I'm gonna let it go.Now, is it gonna drop?

Get started freeNah, that one nigga from Love Island was going off. That shit, I should have made that. From who? From Love Island.I forgot that nigga name.He was going crazy though.
That Lasky nigga went crazy.
What's his name?Pepe.
Pepe went off.I played in high school, but I didn't play often. You know what I'm saying? But you keep, hold on, you keep making, you shoot the same shot.So you replaying it, or is that the same? You a fucked up nigga man too.
I saw it the first time, I'm like, okay, let it go.And everybody talking, we chilling.
He played that shit six more times.Yeah bro, I missed it, I missed it bad too.
We've all air -balled.Pull the one they ain't air -balled before at the highest level. It don't matter.
I air -balled the layup.I air -balled the layup.
Now one time, I ain't gonna lie to you, one time, I can send y 'all this footage too, after I had, I was hooping in high school, and the team, we was getting beat by a team, we should've been beaten by like 50.And so my coach got mad, and he did a thing where he was like, all right, since y 'all wasn't playing like, y 'all wasn't playing at all, y 'all getting coached, fine, I quit.He went sat in the stands. And then he said, do whatever y 'all wanna do.So I set myself in the game.I was like, fuck it, I'm getting in.
So I get in the game, and I'm jumping over the court, and I tried to do a skip pass, till my teammate nigga jumped the pass, and the, you know the side hoops?Supposed to be up.So in this particular gym, they were not. They weren't up.So they was down. And I hit the side hoop.
And my coach, he came back, the coach said he pulled me out of the game and went back to the bench. And then he played that shit in the film probably like 20 times.I'm gonna play it again.I want y 'all to see this again.
It was bad.All right. So we did not. When you're not throwing terrible skip passes and air balling in the big three, what's your NBA play comp if you had to give yourself a play comp?
I ain't gonna lie, man.
Ain't not because you here, but I...Gilbert?Yeah.Okay.
You scared?You scared?No, that's why you said it.No, I'm not.
No, no, no.On the film, on the film, I was like, yeah, that's good.
And then I seen the stat.
He was over 12.Don't worry about none of that.Don't worry about none of that.Okay, I was like, it's just three on threes.

Get started freeOkay. It's okay.I got some excuses.I had a long flight.I was jet lag from the sand.A lot was going on that day.
I had got some pussies. It was crazy. You know what?
But you kept, you kept shooting.
That's three fellow gunners. How many shots are you allowed to shoot before? You can't take the shot no more.Four you gotta pass.Zero.
Shit, every shot we think going in.I know. The next shot.Probably four.Like am I the one to shoot?I'm the one that's missing?
You're the one to shoot. You're the one to shoot.Oh yeah, until I feel, no, until I get tired.Until I just, bro, you know what?Hey, I'm out.Your teammate did it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.Your teammate.
How many shots are they allowed to miss before you're like, all right.
Two.I'm real script.I mean, as a fan, I gave Marcus Smart one.If he missed his first shot, he shouldn't shoot no more.Like I said, when I was, you know, like last year, I was like, oh, come on.No more, no more.
I gave him one.
He got one attempt. No more after that. You got to make that first one. That first three, he gets open.He gotta make it.If he don't make it, don't shoot no more, dawg.
They're leaving you open for a reason.I know he is, but we don't need that right now.I feel that, dude.
You know, so that's, you know, depending on who you are as a player. My dog had a good point, though, because my first shot I shot, it almost went in.If it had went in, it would have been a problem.I would have probably cut the ice cubes and shit.If I get hot, I'm talking shit.I'm talking crazy, too.
You think your shoulder got tired, though?Huh?You got tired?Nah, I ain't get tired. But you put a lot into the Hezi.Oh yeah, I mean, but that's all I got.
I'm gonna tell you something.
There wasn't even biting on it.No, not at all.I'm gonna shoot it.
You don't gotta bite that shit. It's about us.
I'm doing that shit for me.It ain't about you.I'm doing this Hezi for me.This is for me.

Get started freeThis is for me. I know there's going to be some good footage out there of you hooping, man. I'm going to get better. You got a lot of celebrity games left in your career, son.
I'm going to get better. And that's when I'm going for 32.There you go.I'm saying it right now. That's when I'm going for 32.Oh, I believe it.
Come on.No.Come on.So Gil, in a video that you posted a while back, you mentioned that Melo was a more complete scorer than Kevin Durant.
Right.
They're both elites.Great all -time phenomenal scorer. So no shots here between any of the two. What makes you say he's a more complete scorer than Kevin Durant?
A complete scorer, how you score. How many realms can you play in, right? If I cut something off, what can you go to, right?Iso, post -up, flares, down screen, back doors, right?Free throws, lays, middies.Like when you're talking about scoring and who's efficient and who's great at scoring, He had all those levels, right?
So he's like, all right, we're not, we're taking away his ISO.He can post up, take away his post up.He can just go off screens. He can go down.Like, like if you really want to know what his package was, look at Olympics. When he had to just be efficient and just quick and shoot, didn't have to play with the ball.
led the team scoring every year, right? With all the best players on the team, right? So that's what I look at when I look at like, who does what?Like some guys are just good at This skill, right? You good at shooting threes and that's your game. But if I take that away and make you backdoor, how are you going to take the backdoor?
Do you know how to be efficient in that?Right? And he had all the levels. There's like three levels scoring. That's amateur talk. That's layup, mid -range, three.
All right. How about post -up?How about iso?Right, I mean, how about just backdooring? How about just flaring?Like, he just coming off down screens.
Like, what is your game like in those realms? And he had all of them.Like, I almost stopped that.I'm the reason he's a Hall of Famer. He don't even know it.That's why his face is like, wait, what?
I'm gonna need you to explain that a little bit more.He don't know why.Listen, I was a free agent. All right, I was a free agent, and Kiki Vanderwey was my guy.We was locked in.I was supposed to go to Denver, but they signed Andre Miller.
See, they signed Andre Miller. He got to be him.If they're to sign me, you better get it.
Get it off the glass, bro.You better get it off the glass. This is 50 -something million right here. No, no, no, no.I can see them practices now.I can see it's a wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild, wild And then, like, yeah, he...
51, and then they were just trying to give me 52.And I was like, I don't want to be the shooting guard.Like, I already know what happens at the shooting guard position.I watched Jason Richardson.I seen Katina Mobley give him 30 -something.I seen Finley give him 40 every game.
That's Finley. He old.Kobe.T -Mac, Vince Card, I want none of those problems.
You give me the old Gary Payton, I'll take the old Josh Sox.I'll take Andre Miller. What are you gonna do, post me up a little bit?
He ain't trying to score 30, give me a little Mike Bibbys.

Get started freeI like that cast of guys.
Eric Snow.
Eric Snow, I got Eric Snow. And when he get out, Kevin Alley.I'll take those guys.My defense was working around that, and I was good.Trying to put me at the shooting guard, get blammed on, I'm good.
Oh, man.Kiki was looking at Gilbert to be the two guard. That's crazy.I was not having that. That's how we ended up getting JR.From New Orleans, right?
We was looking for a two.Okay, damn.
I remember those.I've always been like, I could've changed his career, man.He could've been a corner n***a, man.
He could've been right in the corner, man.Right back to the corner, literally.Right back in big boy shit.I would've been socked up so many times.
You know how you look at some players that come in, you be like, you know what?I don't think he gonna take the shit I'm talking. He gonna really hit me.
God damn.I don't know, I feel like Denver could have figured it out.Y 'all could have been the first team to just be like, we just gonna get buckets all day long.Just shoot.shoot, shoot, shoot.
No, no, no.We'd have been running good. But you know, when you see, when you see certain talents, man, there's, it's just, they have a force that you just can't stop no matter what.Right.And when it comes in, you just gotta just like, ah, it's yours, my guy.You do it better than I do it.
But I mean, to your credit, though, I mean, like, there's a way that that sort of works because you were one of the first guys that I've seen really that would take in those 35, 40 foot threes, those long threes from behind, even before really Steph, you know what I'm saying? You was one of those dudes. So, I mean, if there's a a time where the game gets faster and there's more possessions, like maybe it works.See, I didn't have a big man.
So the Golden State offense was like, it was like Antoine Jamerson and then guards. So it was easy for me to just do what I do.So all I'm doing is just gonna look at how he plays and then go from there. So I'm good at just watching, okay, okay, he likes this side, he goes here, all right. And then from there, like, if he likes to play in a half court, then I'll try to make everything fast break for me. and then half -court, give it to him, and then just move off of that. But you know, I played college.
I had four McDonald's All -Americans.No plays were called for me, and I led the team in scoring both years.Because I knew Richard couldn't go left.Right? So whenever he went right, I just cut his ass off.Pass the ball back.
Yeah, yeah.Spin the ball back, pass it, and I'll get it back on that side.He be on the fast break, I go right through it.Ah!Yep, yep.Pass it back that way.
Here I come.
Give me that. All right. So, I mean, Melo, on your side, you know, you've seen your primes sort of coincide with each other.Between Gil, AI, T -Mac, Kobe, all the hot shooting guard scores like who do you think can get hot the fastest out of hot the fastest yeah like who could oh i'm saying that's no i'm talking aboutas far as like your guys.
No, no, no, no, no, no.We all slow to him.You can't answer that, bro.Like he, I don't know if anybody know, his stat, this is the gambling world. This is why I'm in trouble, because I know Dempsey like this.Whatever team he was on, there was always a stat, the first one to 20 points.
You go with Melo.First quarter, he has seven to nine, always.Right, that was his...Seven to nine, Melo has seven to nine first quarter points, always. So you always bet his team to go over 20 points first.

I know.
It's a long number, yo.
Yeah, it's crazy.Them niggas, they was guns too, man. They was like him, A .I., Mack, and Vince. So you knew A .
I.was from the jump ball, he's at you.Like, he's getting to it.So if he get hot early, it's over.It is over.I mean, it ain't nothing nobody can do if he get...
If he come out here, his first three shots, it's a wrap. It's a long night. It's a long night.50, just give him 50.With him, you never knew what game he was playing on that night.Right?
he played a lot of psychological games and shit.So you never know if he gonna come out and he gonna shoot 30 times in the first quarter, or he is gonna take one or two shots, or he might not shoot the whole game.So you didn't know what he was going to do, depending on what was going on in the locker room. When it got to Hibachi though, that was just like, it was like a fuck you period of basketball. You get what I'm saying? So for me to be at the very beginning, of the fuck you basketball and why it went to fuck you basketball and to see hibachi
from that was special to see.So then he became, nigga, this is a killer. He had always been known as a scorer and as somebody who's a killer. Now he became a consistent killer. Now I'm trying to kill you, I'm trying to kill you, I'm trying to kill your mama, I'm trying to...So when you got those type of approaches to the game, you never knew what he was going to do that game.
AI, you knew he going.T -Mac.You knew Mack was gonna play a game.He might come out, try to get five assists early, work the game, and then you look up, he got 35, right? He just scored, sold in bunches.Vince.
Now, Vince run.Vince get on the run, he's shooting fadeaway threes, he dunking, he fast breaks, he steals. He was doing everything.Whereas we were just trying to kill you.Trying to get buckets.Vince was in passing lanes, he's in steals, he's offensive rebounding, he's getting it off the rebound, he's pushing the ball.
He might pull up from half if he's hot.He might come off a pick and shoot a fadeaway three from the hash if he's hot.So everybody had different levels, different ways of getting into that chamber.Which made that era of basketball some of the most unique basketball that was played as far as individual talent goes.
You had to be individually good.
It almost feels like now, depth is what everybody wants, but I feel like in y 'all era, if you had a guy like yourself, a guy like Gil, a guy like A .R., T -Mac, Vince, every night, you know what I'm saying? You never know who could go up.
But that's who's winning now.
That's who's one of the guys who got that guy.
That's who's winning the championships now.
That's why New York won.Yeah.JB's that guy.
JB's that guy. What did you, what did you think of that run, man?I mean, I, I heard some of your thoughts on the trip, but you know, be careful though. There's still a lot of people saying like, Oh, you know, the Knicks, you know what I'm saying? They still, I still feel like folks aren't really giving them their just due for what they pulled off.Like a lot of people just feel like, ah, it was a nice little run for the Knicks, but like, you know, it just felt the right way or something like that.

It falls the right way for everybody. If you're not in tune and you're not ready to seize that moment, then it's not for you. What Brunson did, people don't really understand. There's only been, outside of what he just did, Only Steph and Isaiah Thomas is the only guards, 6 '3 and under, to be the guy on the team to win a chip. It's only been them two, right? So for him to do it, that already is amazing.
But how he did it in the city he did it in is very different, right? The pressure's on more, right?I mean, Y 'all some crazy fans.It made me want to be a New York fan.We doing it wrong.Everywhere else, we're doing it wrong.
We're doing it wrong.
We're not celebrating our team the way we need to celebrate our team.
Man, I seen a nigga on a light post.He was hanging from the light.I was watching him hanging from the light. He was like, nigga, you can't pass.I was like, nigga, you on a light post.Nigga, you more famous than me right now.
I'm just sitting like, yo, this is crazy. So how he played the game.no matter how much they went down, they was never out of it mentally. You didn't see no panic in those boys. One word but grit.It was like grit.
The only time they looked like they wasn't playing New York basketball, I forgot what game it was.The first half of every game. Was it game three where they were trying to bully, they were trying to bully?Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, the Trump game. And they went down damn near 30.I'm like, no, they end up winning.
No, the game, they end up coming back and winning. They were sitting there trying to play the bully basketball game.It was game four, they're bullying them like, yo, that's not, that's not y 'all.It was, Wimby was doing that.He was, they was just playing out of character. Then the second half, they kind of got back to just playing how they play and ended up coming back and winning the game.
But I mean, it was, it was, it was an amazing run. They don't need to win no more, dog.I'm sorry.Like Brunton don't need to do nothing else.Like you did it.Every generation of young guys that are in your position, 6 '3 and under, that dominate the ball.
People like you now.Yeah.Yeah.
I agree with that, but they still need to win again.
I need two more.
I need two more.
Who did they bring in this summer?
Drumming. The champs win, the champs feel like, yeah, we can run it back.Everybody loads up with what they need. And you need to come back with what we need.
What do they need?If they win, they won.
And they didn't just win, there was smoking teams.

Get started freePlus minus was like historic. And those teams that they was just beating the shit out of, they got battered. They got another dude with them.Like Giannis went to Miami.Shit, they could get LeBron.
LeBron could go to Cleveland. The Celtics didn't get better.
Detroit didn't get better.
They got worse.
I don't know what's happening with Kawhi and Toronto, but they're going to get better.Nobody worry about that.
But as I said, Miami got one of the threats.Miami got better. And then if LeBron go to Miami, Orlando.Boom.If LeBron go to Cleveland, that's your two threats right there. So it's like, just get a better shooting guard.
Get somebody who can shoot.Like, I mean, you got your team, but you still need somebody else to help.
We got to run it back.We got to February.
We're going to play the game until February. And then we're going to go see what's out there in February. If we need it, we're going to see what we stack up against.Everybody else is a different target now. We'll stack up until February.Once February come, We gon' see who's available.
You know guys who gon' be available?I don't wanna mention no names, but it's a lot of guys that's gonna be available in February.Who's gonna start the season. You always mention the A name.Huh?
You always mention the A name.Give me the A name.
That's one thing I don't do with New York fans.Okay.I've learned that.I've learned that.
Lesson learned.Yeah, lesson learned.Lesson learned.
Keep those couple names to the chest.Well, if I'm New York, and I'm in that situation, I'm, going with what I got.Yes, losing Mitchie was a big piece, but Jarman in a sense could do some of that. That's replaceable.Go get your money, Mitch. Now, it gives me three months to get to February.
And if we ain't where we wanna be at in February.
And everybody's talking about this apron. They managed to stay under the apron, you know what I'm saying? So they stay flexible.Brunsett again, took that pay cut. That's good management.Thank God for Brunson, bro.
Because that contract, boy. That's great management.
Great management.

Dog, Tyler Colick is doing GQ commercials. He's the 11th guy off the bench.
You can make that money up.That contract won't help him, because not this summer. They should be able to get somebody next summer. It's a plan now, y 'all.
I'm trying to say shit.
I'm trying to see the two of you. It's a plan.
Good money next year for them. It's a plan, bro.Who's available next year?I'm about to try and guess.Who's available?I mean, it could be LeBron.
There's another, there's another, It's a plan, man.
It's a plan, man.
You know what I mean?We working.Books?
You know, we working.
All right.Let's just make it work.Let us enjoy the off -season.Wild speculations. It's the summertime. That's all we're going to do.
We got no games. We got no games to play.We got to wildly speculate.Go support the Liberty, man.You got to.Yeah, go support the Liberty, man.
Yo, Gil.
Hell yeah.

Girl, you mentioned Team USA.Squad with Melo, Braun, D -Wade, CP3.Y 'all, you said in a 2006 scrimmage that you cooked the entire team. Now, we ain't got no footage. We just got eyewitnesses. And I can tell by the way you're drinking that water, there's a lot of truth to what he said.
I wanted to give you the context.
Please give me the context, please.
I gotta see this.Somebody animate this out here.
Now, you gotta remember, cooking is Any bucket I scored, you gotta look at it.No, no, no, you gotta look at this. This is the best five I've ever played against. This is the best five ever.Think about the five I'm practicing against.
Say the names again.Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade, Melo, LeBron James.Dwight Howard.
Dwight Howard, Jesus.I would never, ever, ever, as an NBA player, ever play against a five like that to test my talent, right?Remember, I'm playing against the second unit.in practice, right? So this is the best five I'm gonna ever play against. So I took this shit seriously, right?
I knew I wasn't getting on the court, right? One, I got Adidas on.
Two, I probably shouldn't have been there.
But the fact that I'm there, I gotta take advantage of it, right? So, you got now, look at my team.Kirk Henry, Antoine Jameson, he ain't getting the ball, right? He already know the rules.I got Mike...No, no, Miller.
Joe Johnson, Brad Miller.Brad Miller.I got Brad Miller, Joe Johnson, Elton John.Brand.No, what's the other one?DB, what's on that team?
See, I didn't pass in the ball either.
He don't even know.
Chris Bosh was on there, right?
No, he was with y 'all.
Transcribe all your audio with Cockatoo
Get started freeOh yeah, he was with us.
He was with you guys.Joe Johnson was with you guys too.So I had Shane Batty, Bruce Boyd.
You see my file. They can't create nothing. So what Coach kept doing is putting their ass in the zone. So, you know, we're playing in the net, so they in the zone.
Oh, I ain't got nobody to guard me.And it's a little shorter.Swing that bitch over here.Swing it over here.
Right, so I got every shot because I don't have anybody that's shooting the ball on my team.So the score is like 21 -9.I got nine.
I got all nine.I'm killing these boys out here.I'm out though.23 -3.I got the three.I'm killing these boys.
What they talking about?I am the team. They can't sign me for nothing.
Nah, but it was really crazy just to see.Because you gotta remember, look at them. They all young.Yeah, third year.Is that 30?Yeah, so it's the young boys, but just watching everybody's talent up close is just different as shit.
Like even CP, right?Even though I'm a two -time All -Star, you can see they're moving at a different speed, right? So if you sit there and look at everybody, it's like, oh, I'm the odd man out because I'm just a scorer, so I'm naturally, on this setting, I'm a six -man, seven -man, right?I'm not a pure point, and I'm not You know, like if you do put me at the shooting guard, like Dwyane Wade is a better shooting guard than me with this roster.Better point guard with this roster, that is CP.Even coming off the bench, I'm more of a shooting guard than I am a passing to these guys, right?
So you need Kirk Heinrich. So I've already assessed that anyway, so right now I'm just having fun.And just trying to get this experience, but I never in a million years thought I'll be like, Bruce Born and like, Like, I know one thing, I know one thing. At some point, you gonna need me. I can stop somebody. He can't go out there and give you 30 if somebody go down.
That's what he can't do.I can do that.
If you do need another shooter, I got the pistols, baby.I got the poles.I got him in the galaxy.
I got him in the locker room. You damn sure I got him in this one too, you know? This is feeble rules.
That's what really pissed me off.Me not playing, I was cool. But when I had that conversation with him, he's like, yeah, so you on the bubble.Okay, I know the five.Okay, six, seven, eight, I'm nine.I don't even know who's a close 10.
That's 11, 12, 13, like on the bubble.Oh, I think I'm going home.
I'm going to use this as fuel. And that's how I looked at it.That's where this shit started at.Yeah, yeah.Exactly like that.We going to the T bus.
He's just looking back like, everybody here. This nigga killed.Life is good.He was just going. Now that I'm reliving that moment.the only thing I can remember is us walking up the escalator, bruh.
And Gil was at the bottom like, all right.I'm gonna kill you.I'm gonna kill you.I'm gonna bust your ass.I'm giving you60. That's when that shit started.

Get started freeThat was the birth of the hibachi right there. That was the birth of the61. It was funny to see everybody's real personality.
Like people didn't know he was funny, right?LeBron, nobody knew.
Everybody had humor, right?
But because the NBA personality, everybody gotta protect that. But I'll tell you, they was like, how was that?I was like, bro, them niggas is funny as hell, dog. They like me, they just can't show it.
We immature.
All right, so I gotta ask you, you said, There's no better team you'll ever be able to test your skills against than that five.So what was the better feeling?Getting nine points over that team and that's 21 -9 scrimmage?Yeah.Or getting 60 against Kobe and the Lakers?
Yeah.
I'm trying to 60 though.
Yeah.
Yeah.See, cause I'm trying to figure out, did I have the Kobe tattoo at the time? You had a Kobe tattoo?I'm a Laker fan.
Okay. You had a tattoo of Kobe? You didn't have it then though.Yeah, I don't think I had it then.I just had the LA on the chest.Yeah, you had the LA on the chest.
The 60 because I had like 200 people there, right? So as a kid growing up, my name as still to today, you know, the most points as an opponent is me.But as a basketball hooper, they're scoring on the USA team.
Damn, we gotta get that footage.
It's all Hall of Famers. It's all Hall of Famers. You gotta look at it for what it is.It's all Hall of Famers. These are the best of the best in the world.Every point you score on them, it should be celebrated.
But that's what I'm saying. That's why when I came back the next year, that's why my game was different.Because I seen it against them.So now individually, them by themselves, y 'all can't guard me. I scored nine against all y 'all together. Now we're going to have to multiply that. And that's how it looked.
So it was, you got to look at for what it was.And I don't know if any player can do it now because now they just mix these shits up.But I got five Hall of Famers I got to play against.
And you really had to make the team.Like it was real tryouts. We had to try out.You coming in as coming out of a season, you averaging 24, 25.You feeling good and they just like, hey man, you got invited to try out for the national team.
It was tryouts, like I had to take charges, bro.Bro, like I had to come in playing defense, like taking charges.Niggas ain't talking to each other.Tryouts?Oh, we got to get after it.That's fine.

Get started freeCharges.I ain't take no NBA charge. That ain't my job.You still want to do that?
I'm sitting there, like, I'm sitting there, oh!Oh, got you, coach.Oh, like straight Shane Batty in out there.Oh!Diving on the floor.I don't do that.
I'm the star on my team. That's not my job, brother.Deshaun Stephens, he could dive on that floor.Get that paycheck.Get that paycheck, baby.Wow.
Wow, son.
Let's switch it out, man.Let's switch it out.
To your side, man.First of all, it was great to see Elijah kind of go through what he had to go through to get back on the court and back to looking like where he belonged and even better in that development process. So I want to take my hat off to y 'all for handling that as a dad. What was that whole period like for you seeing your son go through that?
I had an advantage. And this is that NBA child thing where most people don't realize that the player himself is still in his career when his child is going through those developmental stages, right? So it's hard for the father to really put in because he's still put into the career to keep the family going. So me, I was retired. So I was retired before Elijah started basketball. So when he decided to touch the ball, I was there hands -on, right, six in the morning, let's go, because I'm still working out.
So I got to really train him, right, to really see, like, okay, all right, okay, now, ooh, shit, now he hit a gross bird.Oh, now you're talking different. Now he's 6 '7", 6 '8".Long arms, you really have a shot.Right, so then, you know, get in a car accident, almost lose his life. And then, you know, getting back into some type of rhythm, knowing I don't know what the mental is going to do for him because, you know, like going through that experience, you sit with whatever's going on in your head.
I remember like going in his room and, you know, he's sweating, you know, jumping and shit like, oh, you're good, bro. You're good.So I know like there's going to be like mental things that's gonna, you know, like, uh, keep up with him for a while.Yeah, that process.Yeah.And then, you know, then, you know,
going to, like, I think, no, no, no.Um, McDonald's was before this.Yeah.McDonald's was before it.And then like, he gets the knee injury.Um, like, like soon as he was training, like he's over training, trying to get his, you know, get in shape.
And then he has knee pain. Then he got to go to surgery. Then he got to sit out.And I'm like, I told him, I said, hey man, get your juju together.I don't know what's going on, what kind of girls you messing with, man, but you gonna have to, man, I bought him some of that, what's the little stuff?Yeah, yeah, go on, yeah, sage it, sage your life, brother.
Sage it, brother, because this is too many things going on when you're just trying to move straight. And I said, you know, sometimes, man, you just gotta listen to what the world is saying. And right now the world is saying sit your ass down. You're moving too fast. You're trying to have an NBA life in college. You try to stay up three, four, five in the morning working, that's not your life right now.
Sit down, rest, see what life has given you, then go from there. So, you know, just watching him just play college was good. And I remember him just like, yo, I'm not playing well.I'm like, bro, you've been sitting down for damn near eight months. You didn't have no warm up before this and you're going into it.Like your skill is there.
I just want to make sure the leg is fine, make sure the mental. So I'm already telling him like, you can enter the drive and then go on there. And then once they see your height, your length, and then they see your natural skill, you will bump into the lottery. But if I don't think you're ready mentally, you're not going. And I didn't think he was ready yet.And I'm like, just go back for one more year.
Get your life. It's more your life.Because you don't want to, with your life right now, you don't want to go into the NBA with the lifestyle. You don't have the baggage of having friends and all that.that, but just understanding what it is to be a professional.Because if you can't be a professional, understanding NBA is 90 % of your life when you first get in there.
You got Lions in there. And them Lions, bro, there's no coming in and you got a name.Nah, they're gonna tear through that name. You gotta stand on your own first. So understanding work ethic, the regimen and all that, once you get that, that part of it, then you can enter the draft and then go from there.
You're both hoop dads, you know what I'm saying? Both of your sons are entering their sophomore year in their respective colleges. As basketball fathers that has trained their kids after their NBA careers, what have y 'all both learned as fathers?
Your boy got a flame on him.

No, no, I'm just saying, I had to think, like, the boy flame better than yours. His flame, yeah, your flame better than his.
I ain't gonna lie, especially at that age.At that age.He got that burner on him.
Yeah, sure, yeah, at that age.
What have y 'all learned, man, just as far as like, you know, going in there, not so much about the ball part of it, but the life part of it, as far as like being their fathers and, you know, guiding them in their careers and as popular as they are and, you know.Once that NCAA season kicks off.
Bruh, they don't listen.
They're gonna be...
What I learned is they don't listen.Yeah.Like, they pretend we didn't do it already. They pretend we didn't already go through this...We went through high school. We went through college.
We went to the NBA.We did that.Right? That means we see all the downfalls. We got the door open.Look, look.
You can see.Like, we did it.You can see it.They still want to go this way, do all this.God damn, like, come on.The doors just walk straight, bro.
Just walk straight.
They want to go and do their own damn thing.
It's some of that.Like, it's some of, for me personally, it's some of, like, wanting to test the waters on your own.Like, let me see if this water really cold like that. You know, they've been saying this shit been cold for 30 years.
Let me see if it's still cold, because it might be lukewarm right now.
should be free.
Right.Did it come in my toe?Fuck that.I told you, don't even go over.
Yeah. But what I'm saying is from my own personal experience with Kai, it's the balance that I have to have with him and the information, because sometimes my stories and my experience could become so overpowering to them or to him that he could get intimidated by my story, my path and my journey.So.I always talk to him by like year to year.Nigga, being 19 years old right now, next year be 20, next year be 21.Because if you look at it with that approach, now I gotta, if I'm the best 19 year old, then I get a chance to be the best 20 year old, then I'm building a journey.
But if I just want to get into that lions den that he talking about just to say that I'm in the lions den, and then at that point, I gotta be willing to deal with everything that comes with that, and that's the mental part of that.So if you can't deal with certain shit on a college level, what makes you think you gon' get into that league and deal with the safari that's out there with all these wild animals where these animals don't give a fuck about you? They don't care about Kanye and Anthony. They don't care about Elijah and Renan.Oh, oh, he's supposed to be nice?Oh, he's supposed to be six, seven, six, eight?
Transcribe all your audio with Cockatoo
Get started freeWe gon' try that.God, you supposed to be six, five with a shooter? You can shoot, you can, let's try that. And you got guys who's doing that every single day.So to his point, if you're not ready to go make that move internally, physically you can do it.Skillset, I could put your skillset up against a lot of guys' skillset right now in the NBA, skillset -wise.
But if you're not here with it and you ain't here with it and you ain't smart enough with this situation, you can fuck yourself up.But which one you wanna do?You want to go to the Lions then, or you want to development by the time you get 20, 21 years old, you're ready to take that next step to the Lions then. Now, I could be a young cub at that point because I'm prepared for that. And whatever comes from that, we're going to deal with it accordingly. But there's no way these little niggas could go jump high school and 17 years old to go from where you at to go to the NBA.
And that's why I think it's all mushy now. It's just like, there's no difference. There's no differentiator between a young guy going into the NBA today like it was last year.I mean, like it was years ago.You had to think twice about coming out early.Back then?
Back then.Nah, nigga, who, he coming out, he coming out?Nah, I'm gonna wait till next year.Let me try to get to the draft in two years.Let me see who part of this draft class. Now it's just like everybody just wanna get there and then whatever happens from there happens.
But it's gotta be different though because both of your kids are, massive NIL stars, like y 'all, a lot of y 'all making more money than some guys are in the pros right now, you know what I'm saying? There ain't no rush. There ain't no rush. The rush to get there before was money. I gotta get out of, I gotta get out of 1122. I gotta get off Pittsburgh Avenue. I gotta get out of here. So I gotta do what I gotta do to get my mama out of here. You don't have those pressures.
You got your mama and your dad.You got a bank account too.You got a bank account before NIL.You ain't even know it.You know what I'm saying? Now you got your own bank account.
So now as a parent, I got to help you manage that, budget that. You know, I'm teaching financial literacy.I got to teach you all of this shit that I knew nothing about.I just knew how to break shit down. You know what I mean? That's it.
I knew street ways how to break shit down.
That's it.
That's how I looked at my money.
Now I got to sit and give them. When you break it all down, it's the same thing.
It's the same shit.I'm just saying it wasn't cool to look at it.It's cool now to look at it like that.
But I got to teach different things.I got to have you ready to get to the pros differently than what people taught us.I had to trust in people.financial advisors, agents, marketers. Now I'm giving you all of that.I'm giving you the blueprint on what it looks like to build something from the ground up when people was against me from doing that and being who I was.
So if you can't learn from my situation, I don't know what situation you want to learn from. You want me to go get you somebody else, I'll bring somebody else in here to explain the same shit to you that I'm explaining. But it's really about listening. But they want to do it on their own. They want to take their own journey.Because outside of us and our voices and the moms' voices, it's, man, you got to carve out your own lane.
You got to do it your own way.Don't be like your dad Gil.Don't be like Mello.Do it your own way.Why the fuck would you want to do it your own way?Well, you see the way.
You see the right way.You see the fucking way.
Well, you would do the same thing in the same position, wouldn't you?I don't know.
I don't know if I was that dumb.

Get started freeI mean, I'm dumb, but I was that dumb. It's natural. It's natural.I think it's a natural thing to want to do something different.I mean, y 'all paved a great way for y 'all kids. But what do you want to do different?
Not different.but just like...
You want to fall the same way I fell.
No, because you a younger guy.You a younger generation.I want to hear why you would say that. Not even like...I mean...If Eddie Murphy was your pops...
Yeah. Why would you want to do anything different than what Eddie is telling you to do to become the best comedian that you could be?
I'm not saying totally different, but it's like...Being yourself, you know what I'm saying, in a way.I think that's the main thing.
Of course, being true to yourself.
Being true to yourself.Because they're not completely you.
Yeah.
You feel what I'm saying? They are their own people. So it's like this situation where you're like, I just want to be you.I want to be me.You know what I'm saying? But I get where y 'all are coming from, where it's like, but I paved the way.
The way is already paved.Walk down the way that's paved. But it's like, well.I want to do it my way.And that point, I honestly respect that point.I'm not telling you to be like me. I'm just telling you to look in that door, get open.
You see this history, right? You see what's in this door? You can do it your way, but here it is.You can be whoever you want to be.You can be whatever kid, man, personality you want to be.Be completely opposite to me.
But what ain't going to change is the morals, the foundation, right? And here's the blueprint. So you can take however way you want to get into that blueprint and deal with that.Just know why shortcut the blueprint.Don't shortcut the blueprint.Because you want to be that much different.
That much different is actually failure.Because if the blueprint is Hall of Fame, all the shortcuts you take...I mean, yeah, for sure. You know what I mean? You're as regular now.Right, right, right.
I just hit my son with some real shit.I was playing some video games, and...got a call to say, yo, he missed, he missed a workout. And he was all, I woke up.So I said, see, that's the problem. You come up with all these excuses.
Do you want my lifestyle?Do you want my license? You want to be 44, wake up at four in the morning playing video games all day.
Boy, your ass want to keep doing it your way.And your ass going to be working at McDonald's.Because that's where you're going to end up at, goddamn. You're going to be working a nine to five.

And we'll jump right after this.On the flip side of that, you know what I mean, being in Hollywood, being in comedy, you know, Kyan and Elijah would be, termed as nipple babies, you know what I'm saying?Like, there's a lot of nipple babies in Hollywood. You know what I'm saying?By definition, they would be classified as, you know what I'm saying?
Like, look at your pops. We'll let you slide for the question.
We'll do semantics later. But Hollywood wise, like, do you ever see, you know what I'm saying, you know, coming up, and seeing somebody who has that opportunity with like a famous father or a father who's like a big producer or something like that, sort of like get opportunities that maybe you felt like you would, you know, be more suited for?
Shit, if it ain't for me, it ain't for me.Okay.You know how you live.you know what I'm saying? That ain't no problem to me. I want my kids to be nipple babies, to be honest.I want my kids to not be qualified for shit.
I mean, for nothing.I'm like, well, you know, that's camp, so.But a nigga can't read. His daddy couldn't fucking read.Let him do what he do.
Fuck it.It worked out.
Goddamn.Who gives a damn?He sure he can read.He said this like five times.I like it.I like it.
