Hanson wants to scrap $1.3 billion funding to ABC ‘w**kers’

I wanted to show you an example of how the ABC works, where of course if you ask the ABC, right down the line.If you ask the ABC to order the ABC, right down the line. The reality might be slightly different. There is a podcast called Pole Position. It's done by a political expert and a former reporter in Tasmania.I really like this podcast.

0:24

They're very granular and I really like listening to it, right?Well, Kim Williams, the chair of the ABC went on, and the bloke on the left of your screen who had Liberal Party connections, well, he kind of asked the obvious here about bias.Watch the chairman of the ABC bat that away, because how dare you could say that be the case?

0:45

No secret.ABC is viewed by many on the right of politics as being hostile to the conservative side of politics.

0:53

I think if you say something often enough, and you repeat it over and over again, you believe it.It doesn't make it so.Simply because you say something does not make it so.The ABC is not an especially left -wing or right -wing organisation, and in fact the majority of ABC journalists, I would defy anyone to know how they vote.

1:19

I'm with Brad, the co -host, going, really? But then we got to this bit.As you know, there has been a dispute between One Nation and the ABC because of the ABC's decision to name a One Nation staffer in the lead up to the South Australian election, something they would not do for any other political party, but they decided to do so for One Nation. And until they apologise, One Nation is saying to the ABC, you're not welcome at the events because our staff have to be just as safe as the staff of the Greens, the Teals, Liberal or Labor. But have a listen to how Kim Williams...displays a complete lack of bias from the very head of the ABC about One Nation and Pauline Hanson.

2:08

I think if you're going to choose who you talk to and who you don't talk to, you're in a dark and dangerous place in democracy. And I think politicians are accountable to the people and they don't get to pick who's going to question them.Clearly One Nation has a different view. They think that they anoint who will question them.Perhaps their concern is because they are such a policy -free zone. But I say that objectively, not in any spirit of partisanship.

2:45

One Nation has statements. It doesn't have policies.

2:50

Pauline Hanson.leader of the country, but definitely the leader of One Nation. She joins us now.So, Pauline, the ABC, absolutely straight down the middle. We are not biased at all.But when it comes to One Nation, well, let me offer my opinion about their policy -free zone.

3:10

1996 when I was first elected, I banned them for eight months from coming to my meetings.Their reporting is very biased.Every time I've been on Q &A with them, they set it up with negative questions against me.And I had it out with Tony Jones, the producer, the last time I was on that program. And it's constantly going on.And you're right.

3:30

What they did with the staffer, it was off the record. But they printed that. They've been asked to retract it.They wouldn't.They left it up there. So the most biased organisation in the last sitting of Parliament, I stated that as far as I'm concerned, I would pull their funding, the $1 .3 billion, they can go to subscriptions and sell off their property around the whole country, but I'd only fund the ABC Radio and Television

3:55

rural and regional areas because I think they do a fair job.But these other wankers out there, as far as I'm concerned, they're not worth the money that they're getting paid. And it is all bias.It definitely is.So they can go as far as I'm concerned, so I'll tell them straight. And I'm not wasting my time with you.

4:11

You've kicked me in the guts enough, and I don't go back to get kicked in the guts again. When you want to report the truth without, you know, having to go at me all the time, trying to pull me down, then I'll answer your questions.

4:24

Well, and again, you know, this again, we won't relitigate it, but the staff and the naming, they wouldn't name somebody in the prime minister's office, let alone somebody who was as low level in the operation as the one that they decided to name.It is outrageous. But again, to this idea of policy free zone. Now, I don't know exactly what day that was recorded.I'm thinking it might have been Thursday. But I remember on Thursday was the very day you were making an announcement about gas policy.

4:49

We know your migration policy. We know your taxation policy about these things, but again it is an attack that is always levelled upon you, which is, oh look, lots of bark but there's no ideas there.Have they not heard of your website to go and read any of these things?

5:08

True Paul, we've got about 29 policies up there and if you went to look at the Liberal or the Labor Party's policies, there are none.So I'm open and honest with the people, my policies are out there, I won't leave it to the last minute when it comes to campaign time for people to, you know, have a look at them. And I think it's very important that you bring people along this journey with you and you're in the spirit of time, we're still having consultation with the people to make sure we get it right.

5:32

Now, obviously, you saw that opinion poll, no doubt, and it would have punched the air, right?I saw you, of course, on the night of Farrer.I saw you in South Australia. But to start to see the same type of polling and the methodology of it that was pretty accurate at the last federal election starting to paint towards 60 seats. Now, obviously, there's a lot that has to happen between now and potentially that becoming a reality. But give me an idea.

5:58

How do you staff that up?How do you make sure that you've got 60 David Farley's, that you've got 60 Barnaby Joyce's?How do you make sure that the 150 people that you are going to serve up all the way around the country are people that you would be willing to get in the foxhole with for the three years post the next election?

6:17

You're right, Paul. That's a very good question.People want to know that.Do you know that we've had expressions of interest for just Victoria alone?1 ,100 so far.So we're actually vetting them now and going through it, and we'll go through that.

Nationally already, we've had 1 ,500 expressions of interest for people who want to stand for us in the next federal election. We've got people from barristers, doctors, surgeons, different ones from just the average tradie out there, people from all different cultural backgrounds.grounds, business acumen that want to stand for one nation.I was talking to a professor at the airport in Sydney on Saturday when I was flying back.He said, you keep going.I said, the problem is in the university.

7:01

He said, you're right, it is.He said, what they're teaching. He said, if I wasn't doing my job, I'm agreeing with you.He said, I'm a professor. He said, I'd be standing with you as well.have the good people around me, the right people there, that just grassroots.

7:44

Australians, that will make a change and a difference to this country.

7:49

So, obviously, before federal election, Victoria in November, New South Wales March next year, and then we see what happens when it comes to federal election. How far off are you from naming the person who will be the Victorian leader?Because, obviously, that's a big announcement, but also there's a lot of support for One Nation that we know right now the empty chair is doing really well, but you've got to put somebody in it.Do you have somebody in mind?

8:17

I have someone in mind at the moment, Paul, but I'm not ready to announce them as yet. There's still a lot happening in Victoria. So anyway, a lot's going to happen next in the next few weeks in Victoria. So anyway, I'll just keep my powder dry.

8:34

All right. The same I would imagine being for New South Wales.Last question here, because again, I'd love to get you on for an Ask Me Anything. We'll do an hour and get into all the details. We'll work out all of that.I'm sure you'd be up for that.

8:47

Obviously, the closer we get to an election, the scrutiny changes. And I'm just talking about the media just constantly writing the obvious negative stories, right? But when you're the when eventually you would get to a position of the assumed opposition, it's daily coverage, right?Daily coverage of speeches, daily press conferences, all the rest of it.How do you make sure that you're going to get match fit, Barnaby's going to get match fit for that level of interaction.Because I know you can campaign anywhere in the country and you've got the energiser bunny energy and have for a long time now.

9:21

But the political operation again about potentially being an opposition, that's when you've got all the media in the bus and following around for weeks and weeks. How do you get fit for that?

9:33

I have done it beforehand.Don't underestimate my energy levels and what'sme.Paul, for 30 years I've been driving this.I've never backed away from my morals and my principles.I've been consistent with everything.

9:48

When you come this close to the line, you're not going to just fold and walk away from it.This is very important to me.It's not about Pauline Hanson. It's about making a difference in this country to get people elected. And if we don't put our best foot forward and the best effort we can put into this next election, and if Labor gets re -elected again with majority government, We're in one hell of a ride because I don't believe we'll ever be able to turn it around. There's been that much damage that's been done to this country.

10:18

So that's why it's so very important to me to make sure that we do get out there, talk to the people, you know, gain their confidence to give us a go.And that's what it's all about. You know, it's about wanting change for this country and I can assure people it will be change that you can trust.

10:37

Well this is it Pauline, you know that I have never underestimated you but to anyone who currently is, you're betting on the wrong horse.Alright Senator, lovely to talk to you, I look forward to meeting up soon but again thank you so much for your time tonight.

10:48

My pleasure.
