Is Danielle Smith Committing Treason? The RCMP Investigate
What?Alberta wants to have a referendum on whether they should have a referendum? The headline, May 21st, Alberta to hold fall referendum on whether to have binding referendum on separation from Canada.Daniel Smith thinks it's time to have a vote now.And she went on TV and explained this to Albertans.
Tonight I wish to speak with you about the debate we're having in this province on the future of Alberta and Canada.Last week an Alberta judge released a decision finding that the citizen initiative petition organized by the group Stay Free Alberta on the issue of Alberta separation is unconstitutional because in the judge's view there was not adequate consultation done with the First Nations Band about the potential effect of the petition on their treaty rights.
Yes, the judge deemed that this petition was unconstitutional because Canada's constitution protects Indigenous treaty rights from this very type of thing happening, from a politician trying to circumvent Indigenous treaty rights.
By an erroneous court decision that interferes with the democratic rights of hundreds of thousands of Albertans.Albertans who volunteered, prepared petitions, made their case to fellow citizens and appear to have secured the required amount of signatures necessary under Alberta law to hold a provincial referendum.
Now two key things that she said in that segment she used the word appears a group that appears to have collected the required number of signatures.Do you know why she used the word appears? There's a whole question of the legitimacy of the signatures on that petition because the Alberta voter list was leaked.Millions of Alberta voters' personal information. There's a possibility that a lot of the signatures on that petition could have been forged using this information. And that's why the RCMP are investigating.
And she also said that the group appears to have collected enough signatures as required by Alberta law. When she says Alberta law, she's referring to the law that she changedlowering the amount of signatures that are required in the first place. She changed that law to make it easier for the separatists to get enough signatures in the first place. This is like heavy duty gas lighting.Well, let's continue.
The fact is that between the Forever Canada petition requesting a referendum on Alberta remaining in Canada and the Stay Free Alberta petition requesting a referendum on leaving Canada, approximately 700 ,000 Albertans have signed a petition requesting a vote on this issue.
Now that has to be the dumbest gaslighting I've ever heard because the separatist group itself has about 300 ,000 signatures, possibly, unless they forged them using the leaked voter list. There's another petition that Albertans started to fight back on this separatist movement, the question, Alberta should stay in Canada. That's received 400 ,000 signatures. But those 400 ,000 people weren't interested in a referendum. They're just doing this in response to the shit show that's going on in Alberta in the first place. So there's not 700 ,000 people in Alberta that want to have a referendum.
As she said a few minutes ago, there only appears to be about 300 ,000 signatures that the separatists gathered. That's under investigation by the RCMP.So her claiming that 700 ,000 Albertans want to have a referendum on separation is just a lie.
And I, as premier, will not have a legal mistake by a single judge silence the voices of hundreds of thousands of Albertans.
It's not her fault for starting this whole mess in the first place. It's the judge's fault. Now she talks for a few minutes on how long it will take the Alberta government to appeal this decision, that it'll take too long.I'll skip that part. And then she comes up with her solution to the situation.
That is why I'm announcing today that I will be requesting our government add an additional question to the October 19th report.vote announced previously. The additional question will be, should Alberta remain a province of Canada?or should the government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?
Okay, so her solution to all this now is that she decides on her own that Alberta should have a referendum anyway.on a question that she's just come up with. And basically what she's done here is she's caved to the separatists because the separatists control her destiny in that party. And she's trying to please them now that the wheels have fallen off.And there's no if she just doesn't do anything, there will not be a referendum and the separatists will get pissed off.So she has to appease them somehow.
So she's come up with her own idea for a referendum.and she's blackmailing the rest of the country. Now let me give you some reaction here from some people that were interviewed.Andrew Coyne, who is a a conservative.Let me play you what he said about this.
There was no necessity to any of this. There's no binding requirement, which he refers to to commence the legal process under the Canadian constitution to hold a binding referendum on whether to separate. There's no constitutional process for a referendum or for separation at all.The constitution doesn't mention either of those.
No.
This is, there are things about what you can't do.You can't violate people's treaty rights, for example. But this is all basically made up hokum to get her out of a problem that she got herself in with because half of her party, if not more, are separatists. She's been riding that tiger. And oftentimes, as it's said, people who try to ride on tigers end up inside them. And so she's trying to avoid that fate by basically putting the province through this ridiculous ordeal and the country as well.
Now that was Andrew Coyne's perspective, and he's a conservative, and I just have to clarify.Daniel Smith is not a conservative.Daniel Smith is a separatist. For those of you who weren't around or don't remember history, this is an article from October 17th, 2009.Daniel Smith elected Wild Rose Party leader. The Wild Rose Party was an Alberta separatist type party that was fed up with the ruling conservative party.

Get started freeAfter being elected leader of the Wild Rose Party, she made this comment, Premier Ed Stelmack, you haven't even begun to imagine what's going to hit you. She's always been a separatist. That's how her career started. But as the leader of the Wild Rose Party, she grew that party, but could never achieve victory in an election. So she decided that the best thing for her to do would be to cross the floor and join the Conservatives. And she did that after five years of becoming the Wild Rose Leader.
This article is from December 20th, 2014.Daniel Smith defends floor crossing as a victory for Wild Rose Party. And that was the beginning of the end for the Conservative Party in Alberta, a huge mistake by then Premier Jim Prentiss, allowing them to join his party. So from then on, the Conservative Party was infected by these separatists. Now, what happened to Daniel Smith is she was rejected to run again.People were so disgusted that she crossed the floor and she kind of left politics and became a radio host for a number of years.
But the conservative party was damaged forever after that merger. They were infected by the separatists. And it's even in their name now. They're the UCP party, the United Conservative Party. They united with the separatists. And the separatists' power within that party was so strong that they were able to have their former premier, successful premier, Jason Kenney, resign.
He was a conservative.I would describe him as a conservative. They forced him to resign shortly thereafter. They didn't think he was right -wing enough and didn't really support the separatist movement. He's very vocal against these people. He calls them nut jobs.
They forced him to resign and in a leadership review, they chose Daniel Smith because they knew that she was sympathetic to them having led the Wild Rose Party in the past. Now, Let's continue with this interview on CBC as Althea is asked a question. What does she think of the situation? And she makes a very important point.
But is it a smart way to get out of having to have a referendum about separation or is it none of those things, Althea?
I guess it depends whose perspective you take.If you're Danielle Smith, this is a good way to get out of a jam in the sense that if she didn't put a referendum question to Albertans in the fall, there is a huge chunk of her caucus, as Andrew mentioned, not her caucus, her party, pardon me, that was actually threatening to have a non -confidence vote in a special meeting later this summer. You can see that she's in a bind and she's trying to find a way out, but it's incredibly messy.I mean, the most honest thing would have been, frankly, to call an election.over having a mandate from the public to have a question like that put to the electorate.
She makes a very good observation that these separatists within the UCP party were threatening to have a non -confidence vote later this summer if Daniel Smith did not deliver them a vote on separation. They're demanding this vote. And now after this judge's ruling that the law will not allow for a vote, and the RCMP investigation has basically stopped any possibility of having a vote, she's had to now cave to those separatists and say,I'll come to the rescue and you'll get your vote. And so now we're in this situation where Alberta is going to have a vote on whether it should have a vote on separation, all because of the Premier. And her last comment, Althea Raj's last comment was, the honourable thing to have done now would have been to call an election.
As Daniel Smith said herself.
It's time to have a vote.Understand the will of Albertans on this subject.and move on.
Yes, I agree completely.Call an election, Danielle. What are you scared of?Why are you putting your province in Canada through this just to appease the separatists and to blackmail the rest of the country?
When I was first elected premier, I was very concerned that it would be almost impossible to restore provincial rights stolen from Alberta and other provinces by the Trudeau -Singh government in Ottawa.Justin Trudeau's anti -Alberta, anti -energy policies became a national embarrassment, one of several, that ultimately cost him his prime ministership. The leave -it -in -the -ground NDP led by Jagmeet Singh was electorally annihilated.
It's interesting that in a public address to her province, where she's announcing that they're going to have a referendum on whether they should have a referendum on separation, she takes time to bash Jagmeet Singh and Justin Trudeau. And then she goes on to threaten Canada now, to threaten the government that's in power right now.
The federal government can and needs to act with even more urgency than it has.Do we in Alberta still have our differences with the federal liberal government?Obviously.and make no mistake, we will relentlessly challenge them to respect our provincial rights and jurisdiction every time they step over the line.
So her tone is pretty clear. She wants to blackmail the country, to threaten the country that if she doesn't get what she wants, she's going to hold the Alberta separation threat over everyone's heads. And she has these separatists on her side.that are demanding it.She has to please them. And through pleasing them, she's going to use that as leverage to fight Ottawa to get what she wants.
It's just an absolutely shocking, vile, disgusting situation. The honourable thing for her to do is to call an election.Call an election, Danielle.Put it to the vote.Let's put it to the vote of the voters totally. Is this whole path that I'm forcing the province and the country down, is this a legitimate path that the voters in Alberta want?
Never mind should we have a referendum on whether we should have a referendum to separate.Let's have an election and see if voters are supportive of what you're doing.A shocking situation that, and I might point out, that could just get out of control. When one of these vile, disgusting, populist politicians that believe they're God, that they can handle everything and it should be the way they want. Not the courts, not the people. She has to decide what's going to happen.
And she thinks that she can guide this issue the way she wants it to go.Use the separatists, get what I want from Ottawa, fight, fight, fight, be strong, but I won't let it get out of hand. It's not going to be like Brexit. These type of things can slip away from you.Momentum can build unexpectedly, depending on how a campaign goes for a referendum, depending on what the other issues are in the world. This could just snowball out of control.
