We're going to go look in her room and just kind of get an idea for what we could do a quick makeover. I'm talking fast like we got to do it tomorrow. We're out of paper.

Hey guys, welcome back to 9FNelsons. So we have 16 kids and we live in this castle house, well, part of the time, because we also live in Maui. And as you know, back to school has been a little bit crazy this year. We've got people doing normal school, private school, we've got people doing online school, and homeschool. Yeah, like, that's a lot of different schools

we got going on. But one person in particular we are going to talk about today, her name is Sadie. This is her right here. She is actually 18 years old. And so, with this whole move and everything, it being her senior year,

Benji and I talked about it and we needed to leave a lot of the decisions up to her where she is actually an adult of what she wanted to do and how she wanted to finish her senior year. So we spoke off camera with Sadie and we've been back and forth a million times, but she really wants to share with you

what her final decision is for school this year. So Sadie made this decision a few days ago and the last few days have been totally hectic and crazy. And today, we're actually going to take her to get her wisdom teeth out. Yeah, talk about chaotic.

With kids all heading back to school and just like the move and the wedding and just all of the fun things that we've been having going on it's been a lot but we finally feel like we've come to a good decision I mean Sadie has been super back and forth with all of her like options that she has for her senior year and finally she came to this decision a few days ago and it's all falling into place now so she's

actually upstairs right now in her room getting ready for surgery. Like she can't eat or drink anything this morning, getting in comfy clothes, the whole shipping for wisdom teeth. We actually have some really fun plans for her while she's recovering.

I've got all of the kids working on their ideas for like the wisdom teeth baskets that we do and just kind of gonna have a fun surprise while she's recovering in a few days. And trust me, she's not gonna see this coming.

I think she is gonna be really surprised.

Alright, so I've let them know that we have a big decision that you've come up with. You've been back and forth a few times, days ago you made your final decision. I did. On what this year is gonna look like for you for your senior year. Yeah. Alright guys so. So I've been very back

and forth about everything with like the moving, school, what I'm gonna do, senior year, like all that stuff. It's a lot. So it's a really big process of like thinking about like what I want to do and what's gonna be best for me and everything like that and so we decided, well I decided that I really wanted to finish up my senior year going to actual high school.

And.

So are you going to actual high school in Maui or are you going to actual high school at the Castle House?

Yeah, I'm gonna be actually going to high school

at the Castle House.

Yes, I knew it!

That's just crazy, like not having my family

like all the time yeah yeah especially in school me I've always had a sibling in school with me like always. So that's gonna be a change for sure you were you know first you're like hey we're just gonna go all in Maui we're just gonna like yeah go to the school there I'm gonna get to know everybody there we were there for about a month and you came back and just like missed all of your high school friends.

I kinda just, it kinda like, I was over, because I was like, okay, me and my friends will all still be friends, like it's not like anything's changing, I'm still coming back here. Then it hit me that I was like, oh my gosh, like I wanna like finish out like this school year

at the Castle House, I want to like I want to at least just get it over with here and have like all like the normality of it all.

Yeah, you wanted to basically she wanted to walk with all of her friends. Yeah. And so then so she was at first gonna do Maui all into school then second was like you know I'm just gonna go totally online that way I can graduate with my class like I can come back graduate with my class but then it was like oh that's just not gonna feel like an anti-climactic for your senior year. It would be like they're gonna be like oh you still go here and it's like oh well I just did online like you know like wait what

anyway yeah and then she was like but I can still go to dances and all that and finally her final decision was like mom I just really you know we had a big discussion off-camera big discussion for hours we really outweighed the goods and the bads and all of that and she's finally just like I just want to actually like be here for my senior year and that was an option that we presented to her at the very beginning and so are you gonna like live at the castle house or tell them what you're actually gonna

do? So basically as of right now we've decided that like I'm gonna go live a journey and I'm actually also debating about schools because it's not just more about friends, it's more about like, I just love the high school experience here. And so I haven't decided if I wanted to stay

at the same school or go to a different one.

His journey is in a different boundary. Journey has a spare bedroom. That's what's really nice about her idea to move in with Journey. And you guys might not know this yet, but Lily is actually moving several hours away to go to school and to intern for hair and so Lily wasn't an option but I think you're

excited to actually be with Richard and get closer to her right?

I'm excited to have like yeah I'm excited to like still be with someone in our family I'm excited to like a roommate I guess but like at the same time it's like kind

of like hard to like not have everyone around all the time.

It's gonna be good.

I've always had a sibling around like 24-7.

Yeah, like you don't realize it until it's gone how much you actually enjoy having your siblings just right there to be able to go over.

No, yeah.

Me and Navey were talking about it and me and Navey like almost started crying like because I've had Navy in my high school year my entire time. And so it's like the same feeling when Lily left and stuff.

And so it's like...

Just different. Yeah, it's very different. Changes are always... Even if they're positive, they're just different, right?

You're going to get closer to Journey.

I'm excited.

I'm really excited about that. By the way, Journey and Sadie will live really close to Trade Izzy, just two doors down. And we live over by Cassidy and stuff. Yeah, Cassidy's literally right around the corner a few minutes away. So they're going to have a good time here as the adult kiddos.

I know you're still in school, but you really are 18 and you're starting to figure out life and just take those steps And launching and you just didn't know you'd be launching this early

From the house, but straight up rockin launch this whole thing, but yeah, it's all good

It's all good Everyone's so different some of my kids moved out of the house when they were like Mid 20s to be honest and some of them like at 18 are like oh I'm ready for college I'm ready for this I'm ready to move out ready for experience so we just try to go with whatever they're feeling in the moment we also have to try to like help them a little bit like it's just a tricky time. It's hard because you

want to have like a good like good launch off of it not just throw them out

there and stuff. Yeah for sure. But they also have to be able to make their own choices. And sometimes that's hard as a parent because you like want to make all their choices for them and be like, oh, this is the best way. But really at 18, it's time for them to start making those choices. Even if sometimes it's a mistake, it's better to just try and figure out life.

The mistakes turn into opportunities a lot of times okay that's not where I want to go and I want to go here. Yeah and so scary but it's good and one of the very first choices we are making, no second or I don't know what kind of choices, what choice number this is, but the choice we made is

go get our wisdom teeth out. Yes. I'm scared. So I'm really nervous guys. So today she's getting her wisdom teeth out. She has started moving some of this stuff to to Journey's home which is now going to be your both of your home which is crazy so crazy crazy um and she's gonna keep her room here so that when we come back if she wants to stay here just to kind of like you know vibe with all of her bestie little yeah teen siblings then she can come back here and sleep when we're here in town and yeah i think it's gonna be good everything's gonna work out yeah we're good and we'll let you guys know maybe or maybe not as we go along we'll just we'll just fill you in every now and then. So if you guys see her here as far as she might

actually be getting a job yeah you'll understand yeah why she's here yeah a

few of my friends have already wondered why I'm still here like aren't you supposed to I'm like and I've had to explain like multiple times,

so hopefully that they watch this.

I told my friend though, I told her, she was saying that she wanted to bring me over ice cream and stuff and she was like, tell me when you're over and stuff so I can and I'm just nervous.

Cause I can't like, I, but per chance, maybe.

I don't know what it is with teens. Teens are like so, even my more private teens, like in the past, have always been like, yeah, film my wisdom teeth, mom.

I'm like, why do you want to film that?

Like I remember watching like the wisdom teeth and all this stuff. I'm not as funny when I'm under anesthesia than I am with other people are.

I've only been under it once.

And I literally made fun of myself the entire time

that I was under it.

Southwest Oral Surgical Arts, you are amazing. Like, they literally fit her in so fast because we have to go back to Maui in a week so I need her to be all healed before I can stand leaving her so I was like, is there any possibility? And they said yes and so thank you so much.

And it's gonna be so good because my teeth already hurt and they've been hurting for a little bit.

It'll be good. And so it's really good but guys, I'm really excited I know that they're gonna do a really good job yeah and so they're so great over there yeah I've actually had a

tooth extraction with them as well and they're amazing yeah so I'm not worried

As you know, Sadie just got her wisdom teeth out yesterday and we are going to go look in her room and just kind of get an idea of how to like give it a little bit of help getting her hooked in. Okay. So she doesn't feel so disheveled coming home and all that fun stuff.

And we have a lamp and a couple pictures I think she got out of our garage. Looks like she has a mirror, some of her friends' graduation announcements. As far as the room goes, what do we want to do? Let's figure out kind of what we want to do in here.

This used to be Journey's kind of like craft wall, so there was a lot of holes in there. It looks like she took all that down already. So she did spend a couple days trying to kind of put some things in here and took some things off the wall. So she put all those off the wall.

Looks like we have some stuff over here that we probably could fix. So pictures, pictures. Did you do new bedding?

Yeah.

Did you do some new cute bedding? And then she gave like a dresser maybe or something like here? Yeah with the picture. Dresser or a vanity? She's got a bathroom, her very own bathroom, so maybe a dresser.

She has her very own bathroom. No, it's not like a good thing, right? There's not? Or there is?

Not really.

So if we find a cute vanity... that's in the castle house because whenever we come back and we're here for that three or four weeks or whatever, she is gonna come back there and live in her room there at the castle house. So just like while we're gone to Maui for those six, seven weeks, eight weeks at a time at max, she'll be here. So we wanna make it feel nice and comfy, but we don't wanna take from her other room.

Maybe just a great big mirror and she can literally just like put a rug on the ground and like even sit and get ready in front of the mirror. That's kind of a fun rolling too. Maybe we'll take out that mirror and put just a big fun mirror. Okay, so you have like picture, picture, mirror. Where could I put, if I move that, we could do like the corner easel.

She loves to paint and so I wanted to like get one of these, like a picture like this. Oh, so she got this from my garage. And we wanted to just paint over it so she'd have a new white surface just like go crazy and paint a big picture. And maybe some side tables because she's got two outlets there.
