Nobody Is Buying THIS Anymore — And Politicians Are PANICKING | Punters Politics
This video has been sponsored by Surfshark.Alright punters, let's face it.We knew this was going to happen.Or not going to happen. We knew that the government wasn't going to pass a 25 % gas export tax because let's face it, both major parties are bought and sold, paid for, quite literally, by the gas lobby. But here's some good news.
Punters, the good news is, is that this isn't going anyway. This is just the beginning and any politician over the last couple of weeks who has been dumb enough to stick their head up above the little bunker there and go into bat for foreign -owned gas -sludger corporations is getting absolutely smoked online in their comment section. You might have seen this little Instagram reel from none other than Cosplay Canavan, which I may have accidentally called him that online.television.Cosplay Canavan, Matt Canavan rolling out gas lobby talking points more than once.Cosplay Canavan, Matt Canavan just put up in his Facebook some media attacking me and if you go to the comments of that section there you'll see even supporters of the Nationals party are saying whoa Matt I don't know about this.
We don't suggest that Matt Canavan is involved in cosplay either but he can defend himself and I'm sure you can have that exchange online.Anti -fossil -fuel activist.Anyway, they go for a few minutes, longingly and boringly explain why everyone who's telling a foreign -owned corporation to pay us for the gas they get for free is somehow an anti -fossil -fuel activist that's like some green -haired tree -huggin' hippie.I saw this, couldn't let it slide, and made this Instagram Reel, which... approaching a million views, so perhaps I'm not the only one thinking and feeling this.Take a look.watch.
If you've seen it, skip it.We'll go through the comments after.
The increase in gas taxes is a very cunning plan.
Hang on, sorry guys, I think you've just made a little mistake.Don't worry, I'll fix it for you.Hang on.
By anti -fossil fuel activists to shut down the wonderful investment that we've had in Queensland.to allow so much of this state to prosper.
There are over 3 ,000 jobs in central Queensland provided by the gas industry. It provides something like $1 .7 billion in royalties to the Queensland government and over $2 billion in corporate tax to the Queensland government. And to say that it doesn't contribute to the gas industry in general is just a mistruth.
David Pocock, guess what, wants to kill the gas industry.David Pocock's tax is not to raise tax revenue, it is to kill off thousands of jobs, not to mention businesses in this great town.Don't worry about it.
Anytime. So ultimately, this Instagram reel was received quite well and it's making the rounds and it was a good attempt and it just is like how tone deaf are these politicians? They really can't read the room on this one.Even their supporters are not on board with what they're doing and the fact that they would go into bat trotting out and this is where we're starting to see the uninnovative playbook that Corporate politicians, corporate career politicians like these cosplaying as Queenslanders.I'm from bloody Queensland.I was born in Brisbane, baby!
In their boots and belts and R .M.Williams attire, right? So they dress up like a regular Queenslander and then trot out gas lobby talking points.Jobs, oh, growth, oh.If we make them pay for things, they'll just leave, not realizing it's a basic business proposition.
If you want something, we need to benefit. If we don't benefit, you can bugger off, right? And so, yeah.Props to cosplay Canavan there. He's done something quite smart, but also quite silly at the same time quite smartin avoiding me entirely.
Don't mention me in your Instagram Reels because I will get a lot of traction from that. And it just, it feeds my algorithm beast. You become the enemy and we just get to go back and forth. So he picks a politician like David Pocock, which people in his comments are not buying either. And there are over 2000 comments on this.People defending it, mate, it's 25 % tax on gas sales, gas export sales.
You don't get taxed if you sell it to Aussies, meaning we won't pay the tax, the company exporting it will.Matt's shares are directly affected, people.Got him.We got him. They're trying to treat their own voters like idiots. This is Facebook.
And now, surprisingly, Mattie Canavan has over 200 ,000 followers on Facebook.I don't even have that many, so props to you, Mattie. But none of them are buying it.I can't find anything. You're not in costume, Matt.Yes, he is.
He's dressed like a Queenslander. If I was from country New South Wales or country Queensland, I'd be a bit insulted.I saw them at the debate in Farrah just wearing, like, wearing the flannel shirt with the puffer vest as if they're, like, just been out in the farm in the morning, which you know they haven't at all. It's like when Polly's wear high It's just a...You've clearly never worked a factory job in your entire life and that high -vis has still got the creases on it from the packet, but hey, I have to look like one of the regular punters here. So, nice try on the narrative.
Norway has a 78 % tax.Like, no one is buying it.And he's doubled down on this post.Today, Teal Senator David Pocock said they're trying to smear. They're trying to come up with labels that can shorthand so that they don't have to explain to you why the policy's bad and how it won't benefit you. They don't have to engage with the substance of the argument.
Politicians are looking for shortcuts to just smear people.had a crack in this post of David Pocock, but it's just, once again, not landing.Look at all of the comments. No, it definitely won't be.You'd do well to take a leaf from Senator Pocock's book.Pete Punt's stepping in to defend old Pocock here.

Get started freeTo be fair, Pocock is not part of the Teal movement any longer.Correct, he doesn't take C200 funding anymore, so that badge is less relevant now.I think you misread the room on this one.Pocock has read it correctly. So like, once again, you got to pick a politician that you think you can win a popularity contest against, and unfortunately, you've gone up against a bloke that used to bleed Australian. He bled for this bloody country, and anyone who watches rugby, or even is close to watching any footy at all, knows that this is the bloke that you - he just ran over that guy.
Just dominating people. This is the bloke that you are trying to say, bugger off to wherever you're from, when there's nothing more patriotic than playing sport for Australia. So there's no bigger patriot than you've got in Pogok who demolishes Oyster. He's through.Oh my gosh, we could watch this all day.But anyway, that's who you're up against, mate.
And these gas lobby talking points, what politicians now need to realize is that it is so obvious, it is so exposed that when you go into bat and shill for gas companies, everyone can see it.So now these politicians have put on the line their political reputation to back in an industry. And obviously we can go to what I looked up here.If you go to Donation Watch, this is where I pulled together all the spreadsheet.I just literally looked up all the gas companies and who they donated to.And I need to do one on Anthony Albanese, because look at how much money is coming from the gas lobby.
That's the Australian Energy Producers. So obviously there's Santos, Inpex and all these other companies, but this is the gas lobby. That's the Nationals. That's the Liberals. That's the Liberal National Party. So that's Susan Lee.
There's Labor as well. And I mean, you can type in Chevron Australia, look, labour liberal. You can type in Inpex, 20 % Japanese government owned gas company getting free gas, labour liberal nationals. The story is the same across Australia.so I need to remake it again for Sir Anthony Albanese. But you punters out there are not letting this go.
This is the latest post from today.Anthony Albanese trying to spruik his budget and how it's going to help people and all these things. And you click on every single post he's got.And what do we have?Oh, young Australians shouldn't have to read forever.Yeah, cool.
Cool. But maybe try taxing gas.Tax gas, tax gas, tax gas, tax our gas, tax the gas.Very cool.true now tax gas the bludgers this is not a coordinated campaign i'm not heading this thing up and telling everyone to post people have just jumped on board seen me comment on a few different things and gone like the comments are literally endless and they're all tax gas, gas next, tax the gas you donkeys.Albo is shutting down comments because this is all anyone wants to see.
We don't care about your little tinkering around the edges with your little budget. We're sick of being told that budgets are difficult because we don't have enough money. And no matter how far you scroll down, there is always a commenter saying tax gas, tax gas, tax gas on every single post at random. This one.Tax gas!Tax gas button!
Almost a thousand likes on that one.So punters, keep it up because we are not letting this go and we will not let it rest until he loses his seat and Labor need a new minister in come election time if he hasn't done anything. We'll be trying to knock him off the perch. We don't have to replace the whole political party, but if we just replace the leader, then the next leader will be like, oh crap, better not piss off all these people that want to tax gas.Wait, real quick, speaking of scams, they can be pretty hard to spot.Phishing emails especially.
They look real. They're getting more and more convincing, and one wrong click can compromise everything. And it's not just emails.Every time you're on public Wi -Fi at a cafe or airport, which I frequently do, anyone else on that network can potentially see what you're doing.you're doing. If only there was some way to help.
this.
Oh yes, there is!Surfshark VPN, have you heard of it?They've come along and sponsored this video and they have a built -in scam email checker that flags dodgy emails before you open them.It monitors to see if your personal data has been leaked, encrypts your connections across all your devices and blocks ads and trackers too.Hopefully not this ad.though.
One account covers unlimited devices, so your whole household is covered. And it does all of this while running quietly in the background, which is what good security should do.So if you're not using it, now's the bloody time, I reckon.Go to surfshark .com slash punterspolitics or use code punterspolitics at the checkout to get four extra months of Surfshark VPN.We'll help you out and help the channel.
Anyway, there is one Labor politician that is on your side. There's one Labor politician going into bat to tax gas, and that is backbencher politician Ed Hughes Here he is here on Sky News.
Cook, who opposes a gas tax, I would say, because he has said it would be bad for his state, that we get a better deal on our natural resources. He said it would be bad for WA.To be consistent, let's look at other federal propositions that are targeted at WA but are bad for other states.
This is what I want to see.Roger Cook, the Premier of foreign gas companies, sorry, of Western Australia, he's pretty much doing whatever the gas lobby want him to and he leans on Albo and says, you better not tax gas because it's bad for WA.You didn't finish the sentence where it's W -A's.gas companies. That's what he meant. And not WA's gas companies.
I think he means like the foreign companies that take the gas.So here's what we can do.I've been assured by some people I spoke to in Parliament House and in the Labor Party that politicians actually pay attention to how many followers each other have and how popular issues are on social media. So all those comments on Albo's posts are not going unnoticed. And I put out a post last week pointing out Ed Husick and telling all the punters out there to go follow him because the quest is let's make politician Ed Husick more popular than Anthony Albanese. Now, it's a tall order because Albo has...
followers. It's a big one.And politician Ed Husic started on 17k and he's now at 23k.That was like from one post I did.So punters on YouTube, if you want to do something, keep hammering any politician that is going to openly use gas lobby talking points. You work for us, not the gas lobby.

Get started freeGet that in your thick skulls and keep commenting on Albo posts everything he does telling we are not letting this go, we are not moving on from this, his job is to do what we want and if he doesn't do it we will find a new leader and the Labor Party might have to go forward with someone else who respects us a little bit more. And go and give politician Ed Husic a follow and let's keep making him more popular because we can give politician Ed Husic more power within the Labor Party going look how popular this politician is because he's sticking up for us.in your same party as opposed to other politicians who are less popular. So there's some things that you could do.It's fun, easy, simple ways to do it and it is not going unnoticed. You can look at the donations here and this was a fun one that I'll finish on here.
Lou O 'Brien, same party as Susan MacDonald there. This was the, you can watch the YouTube video where they ambushed me with Susan MacDonald. Many of the commenters say I smoked her, which was pretty good, but I didn't enjoy it at all.I didn't enjoy the debate at all.Anyway, he essentially goes into bat, like Susan did, for the gas lobby. And, um, everyone is not as jean of buying your plane too.
I'm a full Aussie and work in mining.ATO takes 45 % of my earnings.Do they take 45 % from the other guys? And he is just getting absolutely ripped. And here's what he says here about me. I watched a friend and colleague, Susie McDonald, and gas lobby advocate on the Castefanovic show.I'm absolutely open to any proposition that sees us increasing already massive revenues.
Well, we know that's not true.Come on, mate.Rapidly expanding our sector by streamlining approvals.Oh, he just wants to make it easier for gas companies to get our gas for free.Cool.Former economics teacher, now running an online business funders politics.
I don't know.Like, that's a very intentional thing. It's like, hang on, but you love businesses. So are you giving me a compliment that I'm running an online business?Like, of course I am.Go to pondispolitics .
com, pick yourself up some merch.Or are you having a jab at me being like, oh, he's just a grifter out for money.also a storyline out there put out by Sky News. He's the biggest grifter I've ever seen. But I go to the comments and, oh my gosh, he is getting toasted.PundasPolitics, we got your back.
You make it clear who butters your bread.Thankfully, you're completely transparent. This is just literally endless.I couldn't be more proud of the Pundas out there. But I got to pay a bit of respect to politician Lou O 'Brien here.I rock up and put a little gif there.
I'm not needed in the comments here. And then he says, nice, still marking the homework, which I thought that was fun.Well done.I gave it a thumb up and he's really engaging back and forth.Rebecca Stewart, are you using terms such as online business? You need to be fact check and your homework scoured.
Um, to which he provides citations, which I like. He's really having a fun time on Facebook here.I got to give him credit for it.He says, now you have me giving him a plug.Maybe I should hit him up for 25 % commission.I'll tell you what, Lew O 'Brien, tell you what.
Hot off the press right here.If you vote for a 25 % gas export tax, I will make you a custom t -shirt and I will give you 25 % of the revenue made by that t -shirt.You know what that means? That means I'm incurring the costs here and you get 25 % of total revenue on that t -shirt.How about that, politician Lou O 'Brien?Let's do it.
Happily, happily we'll do it.Punters, keep hammering them. They notice, they see it.There's so many politicians out there that they live half their lives on social media now. This is how they see what's popular and what's not.So punters, keep at them all the time because we are going to.
And if Albo does not do this, if Albo does not pass a 25 % gas export tax, giving a $17 billion extra every single year, I will do what I can.make sure the Labor Party have a new leader coming into the next election.Bit of a threat there for you, Albo.Do what we say or else.I'm just using the gas lobby playbook.I'm sure that that's what they say to you.
So now we also can use the same threatening language.Anyway, punters, this only has all the traction it has because of you absolute legends out there not letting this die.I will not let this die.You will not let this die.Let's keep at them and let's get us paid what we are bloody owed. It's been a massive few weeks.
As you've seen, we've hit the corporate media.I've been on different podcasts.I've been on the news.I've been everywhere. And honestly, punters, it is all because of you. Thanks to you, and all thanks to We The Punters over on Patreon.
So, Susan MacDonald wants to know, where does your money come from?It comes from We The Punters over on Patreon.Oh, and you from watching this and giving it a like and a share on YouTube, ad rev, thank you, it's not much. But the real heroes are here on Patreon. They're the ones keeping me making the videos that I think are important, and not just videos that do well in the algorithm, so massive thanks to them, join them over there.Anyway, thanks to Surfshark for sponsoring this video.
Discount code hookup is in the description below.Let's keep at them.Cheers punts, catch you in the next video.
