We don't suggest that Matt Canavan is involved in cosplay either but he can defend himself and I'm sure you can have that exchange online.Anti -fossil -fuel activist.Anyway, they go for a few minutes, longingly and boringly explain why everyone who's telling a foreign -owned corporation to pay us for the gas they get for free is somehow an anti -fossil -fuel activist that's like some green -haired tree -huggin' hippie.I saw this, couldn't let it slide, and made this Instagram Reel, which... approaching a million views, so perhaps I'm not the only one thinking and feeling this.Take a look.watch.

There are over 3 ,000 jobs in central Queensland provided by the gas industry.It provides something like $1 .7 billion in royalties to the Queensland government and over $2 billion in corporate tax to the Queensland government.And to say that it doesn't contribute to the gas industry in general is just a mistruth.

David Pocock, guess what, wants to kill the gas industry.David Pocock's tax is not to raise tax revenue, it is to kill off thousands of jobs, not to mention businesses in this great town.Don't worry about it.

Anytime.So ultimately, this Instagram reel was received quite well and it's making the rounds and it was a good attempt and it just is like how tone deaf are these politicians?They really can't read the room on this one.Even their supporters are not on board with what they're doing and the fact that they would go into bat trotting out and this is where we're starting to see the uninnovative playbook that Corporate politicians, corporate career politicians like these cosplaying as Queenslanders.I'm from bloody Queensland.I was born in Brisbane, baby!

In their boots and belts and R .M.Williams attire, right?So they dress up like a regular Queenslander and then trot out gas lobby talking points.Jobs, oh, growth, oh.If we make them pay for things, they'll just leave, not realizing it's a basic business proposition.

If you want something, we need to benefit.If we don't benefit, you can bugger off, right?And so, yeah.Props to cosplay Canavan there.He's done something quite smart, but also quite silly at the same time quite smartin avoiding me entirely.

Don't mention me in your Instagram Reels because I will get a lot of traction from that.And it just, it feeds my algorithm beast.You become the enemy and we just get to go back and forth.So he picks a politician like David Pocock, which people in his comments are not buying either.And there are over 2000 comments on this.People defending it, mate, it's 25 % tax on gas sales, gas export sales.

You don't get taxed if you sell it to Aussies, meaning we won't pay the tax, the company exporting it will.Matt's shares are directly affected, people.Got him.We got him.They're trying to treat their own voters like idiots.This is Facebook.

And now, surprisingly, Mattie Canavan has over 200 ,000 followers on Facebook.I don't even have that many, so props to you, Mattie.But none of them are buying it.I can't find anything.You're not in costume, Matt.Yes, he is.

To be fair, Pocock is not part of the Teal movement any longer.Correct, he doesn't take C200 funding anymore, so that badge is less relevant now.I think you misread the room on this one.Pocock has read it correctly.So like, once again, you got to pick a politician that you think you can win a popularity contest against, and unfortunately, you've gone up against a bloke that used to bleed Australian.He bled for this bloody country, and anyone who watches rugby, or even is close to watching any footy at all, knows that this is the bloke that you - he just ran over that guy.

Just dominating people.This is the bloke that you are trying to say, bugger off to wherever you're from, when there's nothing more patriotic than playing sport for Australia.So there's no bigger patriot than you've got in Pogok who demolishes Oyster.He's through.Oh my gosh, we could watch this all day.But anyway, that's who you're up against, mate.

And these gas lobby talking points, what politicians now need to realize is that it is so obvious, it is so exposed that when you go into bat and shill for gas companies, everyone can see it.So now these politicians have put on the line their political reputation to back in an industry.And obviously we can go to what I looked up here.If you go to Donation Watch, this is where I pulled together all the spreadsheet.I just literally looked up all the gas companies and who they donated to.And I need to do one on Anthony Albanese, because look at how much money is coming from the gas lobby.

That's the Australian Energy Producers.So obviously there's Santos, Inpex and all these other companies, but this is the gas lobby.That's the Nationals.That's the Liberals.That's the Liberal National Party.So that's Susan Lee.

There's Labor as well.And I mean, you can type in Chevron Australia, look, labour liberal.You can type in Inpex, 20 % Japanese government owned gas company getting free gas, labour liberal nationals.The story is the same across Australia.so I need to remake it again for Sir Anthony Albanese.But you punters out there are not letting this go.

Anyway, there is one Labor politician that is on your side.There's one Labor politician going into bat to tax gas, and that is backbencher politician Ed Hughes Here he is here on Sky News.

Cook, who opposes a gas tax, I would say, because he has said it would be bad for his state, that we get a better deal on our natural resources.He said it would be bad for WA.To be consistent, let's look at other federal propositions that are targeted at WA but are bad for other states.
