That's true. That's where this clip right here is from.On the 6th of June of 2016, a uniformed FSB guard outside of the U .S.Embassy in Moscow physically assaulted a person who's widely been reported as a CIA case officer. The American arrived by taxi after midday night and approached the embassy entrance, where an FSB guard, who is part of the security detail that monitors the embassy, confronted him.

Now, according to the United States side, the American identified himself properly, but the guard attacked anyway, tackling and beating him and causing injuries, including a broken collarbone and shoulder. The American fought to reach the embassy grounds, which is U .S.sovereign territory, and once partially inside, the FSB officer had to release him.He ended up receiving medical treatment, was later evacuated from Russia after this incident took place. Now, after this little fight took place, Russian state TV later aired the footage showing the man exiting the taxi and being tackled near a guard post and then struggling towards the entrance to try to get inside of the embassy.

Russia ended up identifying the individual as Daniel Van Dyken, who was listed as a third secretary at the embassy's political department.According to the US State Department, the assault was unprovoked and the diplomat had properly identified himself, so they deemed that the action was serious enough that the US responded by expelling two Russian diplomats. And then according to the Russian view, the man was was a CIA officer returning from an intelligence operation, possibly in disguise. And then after he refused to show ID, he elbowed the guard in the face and fled into the embassy. They also believe that the guard was just doing his job, checking identity near a sensitive site. Now, the United States government and the CIA never publicly confirmed or denied the intelligence affiliation, which is standard practice for this type of situation.

But this incident definitely highlighted the longstanding tensions between Russian security services and U .S.embassy personnel stationed in Moscow, including surveillance and harassment.
