Russia Has Terrible Week as Ukraine Strikes Putin's Hometown
Welcome back, Defenders. It's good to be back.Let's get caught up on the events from the last couple days. And the top story is, Ukraine strikes St. Petersburg oil terminal and naval base as Putin's Davos gets underway. This is the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, and this is Putin's favorite event every year.He holds it in his hometown of St. Petersburg, except this year there was a special guest appearance from the Firepoint drone company.
So Ukraine launched drones on the first day of the conference. They attacked the port infrastructure, and this is about 10 kilometers away from where the economic forum is occurring. And as the delegates were arriving on day one, they could see smoke and fire in the distance from Ukraine's successful drone attacks on the port infrastructure.Specifically, what did Ukraine strike? And they struck a ship in dry dock, as well as the St. Petersburg oil terminal.Let's first cover the ship.
And this is the Russian Baltic Fleet Kortvet Project 2030.Ukraine immediately released the firepoint drone video showing the successful strike, and they hit it with at least two drones. This is the first firepoint drone going in, successfully struck, you know, like the command deck. The second drone is going to come in and once again slam into the center of the ship. This is incredibly embarrassing for the Russians. And I don't know how this video leaked online, but a Russian sailor at the dry dock in the port filmed the Corvette on fire.
This video is about 40 seconds.I'm going to play it for you guys.I can't imagine this was a Russian sailor who took this video, so it might have been a firefighter with the St. Petersburg firefighting department, but this looks really bad. This ship was in dry dock, undergoing repairs, and I think it's a complete loss. Here's the satellite image from this morning showing the firefighter crews continuing to dump water on it.So not only is there the fire damage, the smoke damage, but there's also now water damage.
I'm pretty confident this ship is now a total loss.So let's update the bingo board, and this is no longer the Black Sea Fleet bingo board, because Ukraine is now striking ships in the Caspian Sea as well as the Baltic Sea.So Costantin, the guy who updates this tracker, he's just adding ships anytime Ukraine continues to blow up something in the Russian Navy. But what about this oil terminal?Drones ignite Russian fuel hub on Gulf of Finland as Putin begins his economic forum. So this is a relatively small oil import and export terminal.
The big ones are Promorsk and Ustluga. Those are on the, one's on the west side of the city, the other's on the north side of the city. But this is in the proper St. Petersburg port area.I can zoom out so you can see exactly where this is located. And Ukraine successfully struck this place at least nine times. This is Russia's second largest city on the first day of their very important international event and at least nine Ukrainian drones got through Russia's air defense systems to strike this valuable oil terminal.
So I'm going to play this video and you can feel the concussive force of these firepoint drones slamming into these Storage tanks.Wow.You can hear all the car alarms going off. Here's another closer video showing one of the storage tanks igniting.Huge fireball. Here's a satellite image of the day showing how big the fire was.
This is what the delegates at the economic forum could see in the distance. The fire was put out within a day.We now have the satellite before and after image. This is the before and then this is the after. The account Okogora did an analysis of what tanks were damaged and at least 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 tanks were partially damaged and one was completely destroyed. But Ukraine has proven they can get through St. Petersburg air defense systems and they can strike this place.
So something tells me Ukraine is going to visit this place again until all these storage tanks are gone. The funniest part about all this is of course the St. Petersburg airport had to shut down during the drone attack.Because this is the first day of the Economic Forum, delegatesstill arriving, but all air traffic was redirected and delegates couldn't get in for the first day of the event. Here's an observation from Tender. You know what is very interesting?
I watched dozens of these videos of the Ukrainian operation in St. Petersburg, and not in one of them can I hear an air raid alarm. In other Russian cities this would be triggered, but not in Putin's precious home city.as if somebody is very cautious not to spoil the S -P -I -E -F 2026 party. So is Putin gonna show up at his own event?Short on growth ideas, Putin hosts the fifth wartime Russian Davos. The purpose of this event is to attract foreign investment and get international investors excited about Russian technology, Russian innovation, Russian design.
But Russia's economy currently is in shambles. The government of Russia is just paying influencers to come to the event and film anything to generate buzz and excitement for Russia when domestically they have nothing going on.They are not leading in any development or innovation concerning AI or anything that people are generally excited about to invest in.And Putin loves to speak at this event. He's always on the main stage as the keynote speaker, but I don't think he's going to do that this year.As I'm trying to film this video, he's currently meeting with reporters, he's taking questions, and he's saying some pretty insane stuff.
He said, we don't have the translations yet, but he said that the Oreshnik missile has not been used in combat against Ukraine yet. This is a lie.Russia has launched three of these Areshnik missiles against Ukrainian cities. But of course, they're not carrying a nuclear weapon. So I think in Putin's mind, it doesn't really count because they were just testing how the missile dummy warheads would fall on cities. Therefore, it's not an actual combat use because there wasn't a nuclear detonation.
But Putin is saying basically, the war is almost over.Russia is about to win. There's no need to worry or concern yourselves.Ukraine is basically defeated. This is what Putin is saying, but it's not what Putin's advisors are saying. This is a fascinating clip from Andrei Bezrukov.
He's an advisor to Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin.Igor Sechin is one of Putin's most important oligarchs. And this is what he's saying at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum about how everyone in Russia needs to get used to the idea of Russia being at war.and Russia is probably going to be at war for decades to come. This must be addressed now.First of all, we have to acknowledge that for the next several years, and perhaps even a couple of decades, we will be living in a state of war.
It may become a very intense war, like the one we're experiencing now, or it could be a creeping war.And even if it spreads to other regions, we will have two generations that can be considered essentially at war.We need to learn how to live with this war.that does not mean stopping everything, halting economic development, or shutting everything down.On the contrary, we need to build our state institutions and our economy in such a way that they serve not only the purpose of development, but also the purposeof defense.
The next challenge is strikes on critical infrastructure. We already understand that almost any region of the country can now be reached, and that a strike can hit precisely where it is intended to.This is already a serious problem for us today.Yeah, Ukraine's long -range drones are messing up Russia's industries.Russia doesn't have a solution, and they can't survive decades of these long -range strikes. So Ukraine has to continue doing good work.
Ukraine strikes Russia's Ilsky oil refinery for at least the 16th time in the last four years. The Ilsky refinery is located in Krasnodar, this is east of Crimea, and we do have a video showing a massive fire in the distance. We don't have any pictures or videos close up what it looks like, but NASA's firm fire damage confirmed there was a large fire there after a successful strike. So let's go to the bingo board and It's been a while, guys, since we've done an update, but this is the Ilsky Refinery. It's only 400 kilometers from Ukraine's territory, produces 6 .6 million tons.My assumption is this refinery is providing refined oil products for Russia's frontline forces, which is why Ukraine is focusing on it so much.
More bad news for Russia.Ukraine strikes Russian patrol ship in the Sea of Azov. This is just one of your daily compilations of Russia losing very important stuff. So the first thing to get hits in this video, let's fast forward a little bit, this is project 10410.This is a patrol ship that was being used in the Sea of Azov and Ukraine struck it with a firepoint drone whileit was in motion.

Get started freeIt wasn't docked, it was moving. That's impressive. And you can see from this video there's at least three crew members on the deck who saw the drone coming in, and the Firepoint drone still successfully struck it.Next in the video we have a Pantsir -S1 air defense system.Russia loses about one or two air defense systems a day.The Firepoint drone is going to come in.
The first one's going to basically annihilate this thing. And then the second one comes in and confirms... where did the panzer go?It detonated and then looks like it was vaporized.Next is an RSBN 4N shortwave short -range radio navigation system. This was destroyed.Fast forward, we now have a train locomotive car.
I'm gonna guess this was in the Zaporizhia region.Fast forward and we have some transformer substations. This is part of Russia's electrical grid.Once again, I'm gonna assume this is in Donetsk or Luhansk.Fast forward then, we have some fuel storage tanks that were also struck.Your next compilation video, NEVAR radar and a Pantsir air defense system, as well as a tugboat.
So this is another Pantsir S1 air defense system being targeted and destroyed. You can see it has some kind of protective barrier around it, but it didn't help.Still destroyed.Next up, this is a communication tower that got slammed with a firepoint drone. And then finally, this is a tugboat in Crimea. So long tugboat.
A Russian munitions cargo ship hit at the same Berdansk berth two nights running. This is some kind of cargo vessel being used by the Russian military. It was ferrying weapons from Rostov -on -Don or Krasnodar to Berdansk, and Ukraine successfully struck it two nights in a row.I'm not seeing the green label, so this wasn't a firepoint drone, so this was some kind of different drone that was used to strike this ship two different nights, but I'm guessing they can't load this ship anymore.Ukrainian drones blow up Russian ammunition depot deep behind the front line. This is an ammunition depot in Donetsk, and it's just explosions you can hear in the distance.
I can play a little bit of it.Snap, crackle, and pop.Free fireworks show.France's navy boards a sanctioned Russian shadow fleet tanker in the Atlantic. This is President Macron announcing that they're going to get aggressive, going after sanctioned Russian shadow fleet vessels. The French Navy intercepted a new tanker under international sanctions yesterday morning, originating from Russia.
Our determination is steadfast and unwavering." This operation was carried out in the Atlantic, in international waters, with the support of several partners, including the UK.So they released just a very short video showing French special forces boarding the ship and then taking it into custody.Sweden orders seizure of the Caspian Sea.linked to alleged Russian grain theft from occupied Ukraine. So Sweden, thank you so much, thank you to the French, but a Swedish court approved the transfer of the Shadow Fleet vessel Kafa and the Swedish military took the ship into custody.
Russia's monthly land grab in Ukraine has collapsed from hundreds of square kilometers to just 14 according to open source intelligence.Ukraine's fortress -belt cities continue to hold.Really, they've been holding for 14 -15 years, but the last six months Russia has made no meaningful progress anywhere. The gray zone just kind of expands and there's now these series of empty villages and towns in which is just a kill zone.Ukraine is just waiting for Russian soldiers to walk into these kill cities. They launch their drones, they're annihilated, nothing is changing on the front lines.
So the fortress belt cities really are Doprabila, Druskivka, Kramatorsk, Slovyansk, and Liman. The Russians are putting a lot of pressure on Konstantinovka.Potentially, Russia might take this city before this war ends, but to put this in perspective, the Russians don't even fully control Chasov Yar.They took Bakhmuts in the beginning of 2023 over three years ago, and the next city down the road was Chasov Yar, and they still don't control it.Russia continues to take over a thousand casualties a day and there's nothing I can see that they're gonna innovate or do to improve their chances on the front lines. This is the bar chart showing monthly Russian progression.
square kilometers. And May is supposed to be their good month. When we go back and look at May of 2024, they gained 380 square kilometers. This is because the mud season is over, the ground is now hard enough to more effectively advance on the battlefield. We can go to May of 2025, they gained 447.May of this year, by some accounts, 18 square kilometers, some 14.
Russia is just hemorrhaging men and material, and they're no longer making even meager gains.Like, 400 square kilometers, guys, is not that much. It's not very impressive or anything to brag about, but Russia brags about it.So what's Russia gonna do?And there was a slip -up from a state Duma deputy.Fundamental decision was made.
Russian lawmaker predicts new mobilization this fall. This is the Russian state Duma deputy, Guralev, and he announced on Telegram that the decision had basically been made.that Russia's gonna do a mass mobilization this fall.He then had to delete the telegram post and apologize and say that a irresponsible staffer posted that and he didn't do it.Which means he was telling the truth and then the Kremlin told him, you have to take that back.Oops.
So yeah, I do think Putin is committed to this, I think this fall or this summer. We're talking like two or three months from now. They're gonna try and mobilize another 300 ,000, 400 ,000, or 500 ,000 men.And that could be it guys, that could be the breaking point.Adding more meat to the grinder isn't going to make a difference because Russia doesn't have any equipment or material to give to these guys. There's nothing they can do to advance anymore.
And here's the real reason why Russia is struggling in the short term.Zelensky says Ukrainian military can hit Russian logistics throughout the occupied territories. This is the Defense Minister Fedorov announcing, we are launching a logistics lockdown for the Russian army.We are scaling mid -strike operations to systematically destroy enemy logistics and supply lines.stripping of their capacity to mount offensive actions. We've allocated an additional $5 billion for direct procurement by our most effective frontline units, while simultaneously launching large -scale competitive tenders.
" If you remember, Defense Fedorov has gamified the war, and almost every brigade has their own drone unit, and they're all competing against each other. The more effectively they perform on the battlefield, the more resources the defense minister is directly giving them.So the better you perform, the more e -points you earn for your brigade or your unit, you get more stuff, you get more toys, you get more responsibility and coverage. And this is Ukraine's Ministry of Defense account on Twitter just saying the daily routine is now find, track, and destroy any Russian supply vehicle.I've been on vacation the last two weeks, but that's been the story of the last two weeks.Hundreds and hundreds of these drone videos being released showing Russian supply trucks getting jacked up.
What's Russia going to do to stop this? So, there was some kind of technological breakthrough of mid -range drones. They're being called Hornet drones. They probably have a range of about 200 kilometers with a decent sized tail.and Ukraine is saying it's cost -effective.They're making these drones for whatever price, we don't know, and it's worth going after a simple supply truck.
If Russia doesn't have any supply trucks, they're not resupplying their frontline forces at all. This is from the account Okogora and 104 strikes on Russian logistics trucks have been identified mostly concentrating on the M -14 highway, this is the land bridge to Crimea, as well as the N -20 highway between Donetsk and then the coastal cities such as Mariupol and Berdansk. But there's more.Like, we're just not understanding or knowing exactly where everything is happening, but Ukraine's military does. This is the drone -released captured images of at least 230 Russian supply trucks that were destroyed in the month of May. and we're already four days into June, so there's definitely been a lot more in the last four days. This is what it looks like when a mid -range Hornet drone slams into a Russian Kamaz transport truck.
Do you think the driver was okay?Russia's getting desperate.Russia paints military trucks with zebra stripes to confuse Ukrainian drone AI.And yeah, these drones, there is automatic targeting, I think, once it goes into terminal descent. In the event there's electronic warfare jamming, drone knows just to go.But I do think a human operator is still visually confirming before the auto tracking is enabled and then the drone goes in for the strike.

Get started freeSo this isn't going to do anything. This isn't going to confuse AI and it's not going to confusea Ukrainian drone operator. But maybe the Russians just like this design for their trucks anyways, so.It's getting goofy guys.Ukraine has effectively done to Crimea what Iran has done to the Strait of Hormuz.
It has reportedly scared Russian insurers into blocking all civilian hauled oil supplies to the peninsula and the occupied southern Ukraine because of these drone strikes. So yes, Ukraine has destroyed several hundred of these supply vehicles, but that's enough to deter civilian contractors from sending their civilian employees into the combat zone. The land bridge to Crimea was supposed to be safe.It was supposed to be secure. But, you know, the average truck driver delivering stuff to Crimea, he's not making $2 ,000 a month. He never signed a contract with the Russian military.
He doesn't want to die.So yeah, these drivers and these companies are refusing to deliver to Crimea, to the occupied territories. This actually makes it easier for Ukrainian drone operators covering these highways, because they know if you're a large truck and you're still driving around these territories, then you're probably uniformed military and you were ordered to do so.There is a mystery. So in Krasnodar and in Rostov -on -Don, there are fuel trucks queuing up to take very small ferries to get to Crimea. This is dozens and dozens of fuel trucks loading at a dock trying to get on a ferry and the reports are they're waiting four or five days before being loaded on.
One, this is an interesting target if Ukraine wants to go for it.I think this is beyond the range of these new mid -range Hornet drones, but a fire drone could visit the center of this cluster of oil tankers. But they're trying to load onto smaller ferries. The three large ferries that Russia was operating in the Sea of Azov, Ukraine has successfully destroyed all three now. There still are smaller ones, and I think eventually Ukraine's going to go for those as well. But the goal is to isolate Crimea.
But your question now is, why are they not using the Crimean bridge? Why are oil trucks or fuel trucks not being driven across the bridge or loaded on trains? And there's something wrong with the Crimean bridge, which is being kept a secret. When the bridge was extensively damaged in 2023, this was a truck driving across that had an explosive device planted on it, and then it hit fuel cars that were parked on the bridge.Like, it was a very weird scenario.but I think Russia fears this happening again, and I don't think they ever properly fixed the rail line, and I think they're now concerned about the structural integrity of the bridge.
So they still let civilian cars, smaller cars, drive across, but they're not letting any large trucks delivering heavy payloads go across the bridge or the rail line.I think this bridge eventually is going to come down, but it might just collapse on its own.I don't think it's structurally sound anymore. So here is the tracker for gas stations in Crimea.Orange means that they're rationing. You can only get fuel if you have coupons, so this is military units.
And then the red is completely unavailable because gasoline is not getting toCrimea or the occupied territories, gas lines are now back. This is at the beginning of tourist season, you know, summer vacationers in Crimea or whatever.I'll play for you this video. This shows one of the gas lines currently in Crimea. There are reports that Russians are driving their cars from the mainland to Crimea for vacation and they can't return home.
They can't secure enough gasoline for their car to get off the peninsula. There are dozens of these videos. This one I think is Simferopol showing the gas lines and what happens is there's a fuel truck delivery to a gas station.Everybody then starts texting each other which gas station has gas.then everybody goes and lines up until the gas runs out. Here's another video somewhere in Crimea showing the long gas lines as Crimea is running out of fuel.
And it's gonna spread.Russia's gasoline crisis spreads to St. Petersburg, Belgorod, Kursk, and occupied Luhansk.40 % of refining capacity is offline after Ukraine's drone strikes.Russia went from a net exporter of refined oil products to a net importer.Russia experienced this problem last summer, if you remember, and they solved it by no longer exporting gasoline or diesel, but they're now importing as much as they can get from Belarus and Kazakhstan.Ukraine's not going to strike the refineries in Belarus or Kazakhstan, so they just have to double down after going after Russian refineries to trigger these price increases and shortages and this is definitely disruptive and frustrating for ordinary Russians.
The only advantage Russia has is their ballistic missile technology.Ukraine does not have enough air defense missiles to shoot them all down and many of them unfortunately are getting through. Two nights ago, Russia launched a massive terrorist attack against Ukrainian city's 729 drones and missiles, mostly concentrating on the capital city of Kyiv.Russia launched eight Zircon anti -ship ballistic missiles and Ukraine was incapable of shooting any of them down.11 out of 33 Iskander missiles were shot down so 22 were not intercepted. The cruise missiles are a different story because Russia has or Ukraine has F -16s and other jets
with air -to -air missiles, they can they can find the cruise missiles, they can shoot down the cruise missiles, but the ballistic missiles basically only pack three Patriot air defense missiles can intercept them and there just aren't enough. There aren't enough. This is the post from Ukraine's prime minister.Last night Russia launched more than 600 drones and over 70 missiles of various types against the civilian population of Ukraine.Kiev was under attack throughout the night.Four people are dead and over 60 injured, including three children.
In Dnipro, six people were killed and another 36 injured. In Kharkiv region, at least 14 people were wounded, including a child.Sumy and Zaporizhia regions were also targeted.Let me share with you the name and faces of some of the victims. This is Veronica Chuyan, a mother of two.She was killed along with her two sons, ages five and three.
This is what Kiev looks like in the morning after being struck with drones and ballistic missiles. It's just random.Russia's blowing up shopping malls, they're blowing up schools, they're blowing up hospitals, they're blowing up anything of any economic value to the city. And Ukraine can't stop the ballistic missiles.Specifically, what did they hit? This is the Orient Med Clinic in Kiev, and Russia dedicated a ballistic missile to destroying this health clinic.
Russian strike damages Chinese Zikr dealership in Kiev while Chinese components have been documented in Russian weapons. So this is a dealership in Kiev that sells Chinese electric cars from the company Zikr.Chinese components are in Russian missiles being launched at Ukrainian cities to destroy Chinese dealerships.Does China care?
No.
Russia's monthly ballistic missile production now exceeds Lockheed Martin's PAK -3 production and it takes two to three interceptors to stop one Russian Iskander ballistic missile. So Russian knows this. This is their last remaining advantage over Ukraine.and they're now building, it's estimated, 70 ballistic missiles a month, whereas Lockheed Martin is only building 56 PAC -3 interceptors a month. The math is just terrible. And Zelensky is trying to shock people or raise awareness or scream anything he can scream to increase the production of air defense missiles, like the entire world needs them.
Zelensky says, we are receiving PAC -3 missiles from our partners in certain quantities, but later that monthly volume was cut several times over.It wasn't due to a lack of funding, but because of Trump's war against Iran. This affected different types of weapons.Whatever we could, we replaced with our own domestic production, but we still cannot replace the PAK -3 air defense missiles for the Patriot air defense system.NATO held a council meeting in Ukraine.I'm sure Putin loves this.
Zelensky gave a really good speech. There's clips online, but I'm going to share this one. This is where he talks about the shortage of air defense missiles and the need for the United States to approve licensing agreement so that Patriot air defense missiles can be produced outside of America. They need to be produced in France or Germany or the United States.even Ukraine. But Donald Trump and Lockheed Martin would have to give permission for this to be done and this is Zelensky's plea to make this happen.

Get started freeAnd we raised it with the previous US administration and we continue to discuss it.with the current one, namely providing Ukraine with licenses to produce such systems, Patriot systems. And it's not only about Ukraine, it's to all the Europeans who have such capabilities to start and to produce it massively.Current Patriot Production capacity is simply not enough to meet all the existing and potential threats around the world.Ukraine has already shown across many types of weapons, and especially in drones, that we can move fast and produce modern systems at scale. So I ask for your support at the political level to help achieve positive decisions on these licenses as well.
If Russia is producing over 70 ballistic missiles per month, then Lockheed Martin needs to be producing over 300 air defense missiles a month. And that's just a break even.Really, we should be producing surpluses and then adding to our stockpiles for the next war, which inevitably will come. But really, the solution Ukraine needs is just to make their own capable air defense systems that can shoot down ballistic missiles.Ukrainian company tests ballistic missile for air defense system.this is the firepoint company and at the moment they're working on firepoint 7 i do think this is going to make its arrival on the battlefield later this year and they're trying to adjust this they're going to
it Firepoint 7x, and they want this to be an anti -ballistic missile system. So they're working on it.Ukraine is working as fast as they possibly can, but they have to invent or build their own interceptors capable of shooting down Russia's ballistics. Not an easy task, but this is the last thing Ukraine needs before they can have a real effective domestically produced air defense capable of stopping Russia.Let's get to the good news headlines.Norway pledges air defense support for Ukraine after call with Zelensky.
Thank you so much, the Norwegians.Japan buys over 14 million in military equipment through the Pearl Initiative. This is a big deal because Japan kicking in money to the Pearl Initiative.Japan has had a pacifist constitution for over 70 years. So Japan's getting there, but we need them.We need them to be doing more.
Thank you so much, the fantastic Japanese.Hungary unblocks 7 .7 billion in EU arms payments after dropping two -year veto on Ukraine aid.Thank you so much the people of Hungary for the amazing election you had two months ago.Hungary says it has reached a deal with Ukraine on minority rights and they're no longer going to hold up Ukraine's EU ascension. This wasn't a problem. The minority Hungarian -speaking population of Ukraine were not being attacked.
They were not being oppressed. This was a fabricated fake story from Viktor Orban. So Peter Magyar announced a deal in which the problem that wasn't really a problem has been resolved.Cool.Final clip I have for you.is once again NATO's council meeting they held in Ukraine.
The delegates arrived and here is the NATO Secretary Mark Rutte. They made a visit to the Wall of Heroes to show their respects.Russia will be defeated. That's all for this update video.Glory to Ukraine.Glory to the heroes.
