So... Roblox did it

Today is Roblox Doomsday.The day that Roblox changes forever.You see, because today is the day that a whole bunch of Roblox updates go into effect.Like Roblox Kids, for example.And also all these updates here that you've heard me and a bunch of other people talking about for literally months.Like the fact that you gotta pay a thousand Robux to publish a game on Roblox now.

We're gonna talk about that.Let's start with this right here.Roblox Kids, Roblox Select, Roblox 16+.So starting today, Roblox Kids and Select accounts are rolling out in New Zealand, the Netherlands, Australia, and Indonesia.the world.I released an entire blog post going through all the details of this.

I'll just break down what you need to know though, because let's be honest, no one's got time to read this entire essay.So first off, if you're in Roblox kids, all chat will be disabled.You cannot talk to anybody.However, your parent can do an age check on their Roblox account, which will then give you access to in game chat, but you have to have a parent to turn it on.And if you're in Roblox kids, you will only be able to access games that are rated minimal or mild.So like for example, forsaken is a mild maturity game.

You can access that.Slime RNG is a minimal maturity game.You can access that.MM2, however, is a moderate maturity game.You will no longer be able to play this game.That's the new restrictions for Roblox Kids.

Let's talk about Roblox Select now.So if you're between the ages of 9 to 15,you'll be put into Roblox Select.Roblox will allow you to chat with a few people in Roblox Select.Not everyone, just a few people.And once again, if your parent has a Roblox account, they can enable chat for you.

If you're in Roblox Select, you'll be able to play games that are minimal, mild, or moderate.

Meaning you'll be able to play MM2 again.And of course, other moderately mature games like it.But you won't be able to join any 18 plus games like the ones listed on screen.And to be honest with you, I don't know why you'd want to join these anyway.This one is literally called The Mommy Club.Any club, this is a real game.

And then if you're in regular roblox, 16 plus roblox, like I said, not much changes.You'll basically have access to roblox like you do today and not much will really change.Now hold on because this is important.

According to roblox, around 50 % of all players have not done an age check.If you do not do an age check on Roblox, you will automatically be put into Roblox Kids.Meaning all the restrictions that Roblox Kids get will automatically be applied to you even if you're...

I don't know.16 18 20 30 40 however old you are so if you don't do the age verification you're going to be stuck in roblox daycare and again that takes effect today in new zealand the netherlands australia and indonesia this update will go into effect everywhere in early june now let's talk about the publishing fee a lot of people have gotten really mad about this so how it's always been on roblox is you can publish a game to roblox for free it's free that's literally like the tagline of roblox or at least it was for like 20 years now though there's a few requirements to to publish a game on ROBLOX.Number one, if you have ROBLOX Plus, that's the new $5 a month ROBLOX subscription.It's the thing that replaced ROBLOX Premium.If you have ROBLOX Plus and you've had it for at least two months, then you don't have to pay the 1 ,000 ROBLOX fee.But if you don't have ROBLOX Plus, you have to pay 1 ,000 ROBLOX for every ROBLOX game you publish to the platform.

Now, ROBLOX says that this fee will be refunded to you provided that your game doesn't get moderated

something that a government ID.Basically, if you are of age, you have to provide a government ID to Roblox, basically like your driver's license, or you have to link a parent account that then has their ID on it.So either way, you have to give an ID to Roblox.On top of that, you have to do an age check.So you have to do the age verification check.And then finally, you have to have two -step verification turned on for your Roblox account, which helps keep your account secure.

And honestly, you should probably have that turned on anyway, because it stops your account from getting hacked or makes it harder to at least.

Now, I want to take a moment to address something that Roblox keeps saying here.Roblox says, do I have to pay to publish a game on Roblox?Roblox says no.Anyone who has completed an age check can still publish a game that is playable by their trusted friends and age checked 16 plus users.Here's the thing, though.If you don't pay the 1000 Robux fee and if you don't do all this right here on the left, then your game gets locked.

to 16 plus users over here on the right.Roblox select.users cannot play your game.Roblox kids users cannot play your game.According to Google here, around 60 % of Roblox's total user base is under 16.Meaning if you don't pay the 1000 Robux fee, if you don't do the age verification, send Roblox your ID, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, 60 % of Roblox will just be unable to play your game.

But hold on because it's actually more than that.Roblox says 50 % of players haven't done an age verification.And if you don't do age verification, you automatically get put in Roblox kids.So this number is probably closer to like 70, 75%, three fourths of Roblox will just not be able to play your game anymore.

So while it's true that you don't have to pay to publish a game on Roblox, if you don't pay, then You're basically screwing yourself over.

Your game's not going to get a lot of players.Roblox is being very cheeky on how they word this, but wait, there's more.So Roblox is starting to restrict games that don't meet a 500 player requirement.Again, I'm not going to read this entire essay for you.I'm instead going to read the tweet I made on it.So Roblox is going to start restricting all games to 16 plus by default to reach younger players.

Your game has to have at least 500.Okay.And this is important.pay attention 500 unique age verified 16 plus players in the past 30 days otherwise your game will be locked to 16 plus meaning you have to pay the 1000 robux fee or have Roblox Plus, you have to do all of this here on the left and your game has to meet a 500 player requirement.Otherwise you will be locked to 16 plus users.

Again, like 70, 75 % of Roblox will not be able to play your game unless you do all of that.In fact, if you go into your Roblox dashboard, you can actually see the counter here.

You have to have 500 unique 16 player users.age verified players.In the past 30 days, actually, it might be 60.It might be 60 days.I think it's actually 60 days.Either way, you have to have 500 16 plus players that are age checked and verified.

Otherwise, your game gets locked to 16 plus.I tweeted and I said it looks like Roblox has taken the nuclear option against inappropriate games.This is great for safety, but will definitely make it harder for new developers to get started.

And then here's the official documentation that Roblox provides on everything I just talked about.Basically, if your game doesn't have an active player base, then it automatically gets locked to 16 plus just to ensure safety.That's what Roblox says, at least.

Like I said at the beginning of the video, Roblox Doomsday has arrived.

Now here's my opinion on this, and I agree with Waffle Trades here.He's another Roblox streamer.

As a Roblox streamer, finding games to play with viewers just got a lot more challenging.Niche events slash community games are now restricted to viewers who have 16 plus age verified accounts.I understand why Roblox is making these changes for safety, but the results are unfortunate.And that's how I feel about it.

Look, Roblox has gotten very boring, very unfun over the past couple of months.You can contribute a lot of that to the brain rock games and games that just kind of suck if you're over the age Of eight years old, but a lot of that also has to do with the age checks I can't go in a game and talk to you guys anymore.

I can't even see what you guys are saying anymore There is literally like zero way for me to interact with you on roblox now, which I understand It's great for safety, but like it just kind of sucks for a community I can't do big roblox donations anymore because roblox is shutting down all donation games literally in 10 days next Friday.So like these are all gone and I can go on but my point is Roblox is making it very difficult to be a streamer on this game because the entire point of streaming is interaction and playing with viewers and with all these updates and all these restrictions it makes that very difficult to do.Snake has even been talking about quitting Roblox.He's bored of it.He's tired of it.Dude does not want to do Taco Tuesday anymore.

It's why I think Roblox has lost 20 million daily users.Literally in the past few months, Roblox has lost 20 million daily users.20 million players just gone just like that.

It's because you can no longer go on Roblox, just join a game, play with your friends, hang out and have fun.That is no longer a thing.That is a thing of the past.And look, I don't even disagree with some of these safety updates.

I think some of these safety updates are good.Not all of them.I think some of them are bad, but an unfortunate side effect of all this is it just makes roblox not fun it's part of the reason why i'm making a more mature channel i guess this is the announcement i mean i've talked about it for a while but yeah at creek i'm making a more mature channel we're gonna play more mature games over there starting with grand theft auto if you can't tell from the from the banner and profile picture and the reason why is simple i don't know if roblox is still going to be popular in three years four or five years, I might be out of a career in three, four or five years.People always ask me, where do I see the future of roadblocks at this point?I don't know.So I'm gonna start making more mature content over here.
