Subsequent to his little military meeting earlier this week, the generals berated by Donald Trump have started to privately turn on him, and this could spell any number of disasters. Even I didn't see this one coming. Welcome to Occupy Democrats, I'm David Redish. In case you wound down the month of September on vacation, or in bed with the covers pulled

0:19

over your head while eating a box of Velveeta, and given everything that happened in September, who could blame you? You may have missed that on Tuesday, drunken Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called an enormous meeting of American generals in Quantico, Virginia.

0:34

The reason? To tell them to prepare to occupy American cities and embrace a warrior ethos, as if a draft dodger like Trump and an inebriate like Hegseth somehow understand

0:45

that idea better than a room full of career military men. Take a look at what Hegseth

0:51

had to say.

0:54

This also means grooming standards. No more beards, long hair, superficial individual expression. We're going to cut our hair shave our beards, and adhere to standards. Because it's like the broken windows theory of policing. It's like when you let the small stuff go, the big stuff eventually goes. So you have to address the small stuff. This is on duty, in the field, and in the rear. If you want a beard, you can join special forces. If not, then shave. We don't have a military full of Nordic pagans. But unfortunately we have had leaders who either refused to call BS and enforce standards,

1:32

or leaders who felt like they were not allowed.

1:35

Okay, so first of all, I don't know how many generals you've seen sporting a mullet or a pompadour, but it doesn't seem to be that big an issue. And even if it somehow was, it doesn't seem like it's affecting military preparedness. And it gets even more bizarre and embarrassing, so stick around. Hegseth made it known that he likes a smooth,

1:53

clean-shaven man who won't let himself go. Do you suppose he talks to women the same way, including any number of women he's impregnated, married, cheated on, and divorced? In no particular order, of course. Or does he just tell that to the boys after a few drinks? Use your imagination.

2:11

Let's move on. Not content to let Hegseth become the only national embarrassment, Trump took to the stage to deliver a meandering and low-energy screed.

2:21

And people other than politicians that look bad, they think, you know, the Democrats run most of the cities that are in bad shape. We have many cities in great shape, too, by the way. I want you to know that. But it seems that the ones that are run by the radical left Democrats, what they've done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, they're very unsafe places. And we're gonna straighten them out.

2:45

It'll be a major part for some of the people in this room. That's a war too, it's a war from within.

2:51

Now, before we go any further, I must point out that Trump is actually calling for war there, war on American citizens. It is not the duty of the military to battle with Americans, nor is it their objective to overrule civilian defenses like the police.

3:06

So no wonder people in the room felt uncomfortable. And by the end of the day, that included Donald Trump. Stay with me. In his speech, Trump also complained about America's ugly stealth planes and battleships. Because apparently, outglamming your enemy is a major strategy on the battlefield. Suffice it to say, the speech did not go over well, and now former military officials have

3:27

revealed that Trump himself felt taken aback during the speech. Appearing on MSNBC, retired Lieutenant General Mark Hertling opened up about how Trump was devastated by the response to his speech, and how the US military managed to actually raise the dignity index in the face of a buffoon.

3:46

General, I'll start with you and just your reaction. I'm sure you've talked to some of your old colleagues, maybe who are in the room or some who just watched at home. What was the reaction to that spectacle yesterday?

3:57

Yeah, well, I did talk to a few, many people in that room I've served with. I didn't retire that long ago, so some of those senior members were junior members when I was still in the service. What was interesting is it came about in two parts. First of all, Secretary Hegseth's address. I took notes as he spoke as I was watching it.

4:18

And just some of the things that I made bullet points about were Liberation Day, kill things and break people, or kill people and break things, excuse me, war crimes, Geneva Convention elimination, rules of engagements are unnecessary, suggesting women can't meet the standards,

4:36

returning to the days of drill sergeants smoking recruits during basic training, suggesting the elimination of IG actions, especially as he's being investigated for the use of signal apps by those IGs, hawking his own book at the end, The War on Warriors, which I've read. And it's a compilation of thoughts from a disgruntled soldier who has

4:57

very little understanding of strategic implications of various actions. Then when it turned to the president, you've already addressed this, a meandering, just all sorts of issues, much like the UN speech he gave. So many things to talk about from that speech, but the war from within, as you just mentioned, and putting soldiers on American streets to train how to react to different enemies from within were two of the highlights that

5:26

I wrote down. And it was just a combination of two things that I believe were leading to what we might see next. And the other thing I'd say is, is President Trump thrives on applause and cheering and interactions with an audience. And when he didn't get that and instead got quiet professionalism from the soldiers, sailors, airmen,

5:50

and Marines in the audience, that likely rattled him from the very beginning. And that silent wasn't disrespect, it was restraint and discipline and adherence to the oath of office. Yesterday was to me a collective reminder

6:06

of our professional culture that we have in the military that transcends politics. It was on full display and it was interesting to watch from both sides of the audience.

6:16

So there you have it. Trump intended this little speech as a fan fest lap dance of sorts, and it proved anything but. The generals gathered in that room had nothing but disdain

6:25

for Hegseth's beauty school course, and especially for Trump's self-adulation and encouraging them to see the American people as an enemy. The military is sworn to protect and serve America and her people, not its bronzed leader. And we need to mention at this point,

6:40

the irony of Hegseth fat-shaming the generals while encouraging their fealty to Trump as the ultimate warrior. Hegseth does know Trump is fat, right? And all of this says nothing of the total stupidity of gathering so much of America's military command into one spot. What if we were attacked?

6:59

We'd lose the president, the defense secretary, and the military leadership. And what if spies were hanging out in the area? And you know they were. Now that they know which generals, and their families, to target, what will they do? And of course Trump did it all for just the attention. Let's hope this stunt fades quickly, along with whatever lingering political capital

7:20

Hegseth and Trump retain. As always, help us out by liking and sharing this video, and always make sure to subscribe to our channel to stay up to date on all political news in the United States. to our channel to stay up to date on all political news in the United States. This is Occupy Democrats.
