If it wasn't already over, then Marjorie Taylor Greene's resignation announcement has officially cracked MAGA straight down the middle and put a hard stop to Donald Trump's lame-duck presidency. And it's not just because losing one more Republican in the House makes it borderline impossible for Mike Johnson to pass so much as a commemorative post-office bill. It's because Donald Trump now has the loudest foghorn in his movement. The same woman who used to worship at his feet, spending every waking hour calling out his failures before the midterms. He is absolutely barreling toward losing in a bloodbath. And that is why he woke up at some ungodly hour to melt down

on truth social, attacking Marjorie Taylor Greene and trying to cope with the reality that his term is collapsing around him like wet cardboard. We're going to get into all of it, because wow is this funny. But before we dive into the two completely unhinged posts Trump shoved onto the internet before breakfast, I want to start with something our friend Adam Mochler said last night on CNN because Republicans are already scrambling to rewrite the narrative around Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Yeah, Joe keeps trying to draw this distinction where Marjorie Taylor Greene is some character but Trump isn't somehow. I just think that Marjorie Taylor Greene's style of divisive politics is directly downstream from how Donald Trump entered the political stage. He said that Obama wasn't born in America, Hillary should be locked up. His entire political rise was through divisiveness and Marjorie hopped on that train and was very divisive. It is now, she's now switching, now that she's the subject of the MAGA ire, she's now switching that she's the now that she's the ire of the MAGA or the subject of the MAGA ire

She's switching her position and saying that I can't take this I mean, this is what so many Democrats have been through

I think it is so important that we say this now which is exactly why Adam is saying this now the guy is a genuinely sharp observer of politics and More importantly of how MAGA actually operates when the cameras aren't rolling. And he's a great guy and a friend of mine. So yes, I'll give him that shout out. He absolutely crushed it last night. Because Adam understands exactly what's happening here. The MAGA media machine is already shifting into cleanup mode. Their mission now is to defend Donald Trump at all costs, even if it means rewriting the last

four years in real time. So we're about to hear a whole lot of, well, Marjorie Taylor Greene was always kind of fringe, nobody really liked her, she was embarrassing us, she was too chaotic online, she attacked too many people, that kind of nonsense. But let's be real, Marjorie Taylor Greene is Donald Trump, period.

She is the House Floor version of him, smaller, louder, and somehow even stranger around the edges. But it's the same conspiracy stew, the same rage-drunk theatrics, the same threats, the same nonstop performance of grievance. She was there on January 6th. And honestly, we still don't know exactly where she was the night before January 6th, which is its own problem. But this idea that she's some random fringe figure? Please. She built MAGA right alongside him. She spent

years proudly tying her political identity directly to Donald Trump's political rise. She helped sustain the movement while Trump was sulking in political exile, and trust me, the country would have been better off if he'd stayed there. So no, they can't sell the fairy tale that she wasn't part of the movement. They can't distance themselves from her without distancing themselves from Trump. And now that she's finally decided to jump off the sinking ship, Marjorie Taylor Greene is going to spend every waking minute making the case against Donald Trump exactly

as Ro Khanna laid out.

But she's more in touch with some of the populist MAGA base than Donald Trump is at this point. And, you know, I've gotten to know Marjorie Taylor Greene. This idea that she's only standing up for the Epstein survivors because she was snubbed on a Georgia race is just not true. I mean, maybe that's part of factors of her thinking, but people are more complex than being caricatures.

And the reality is there are just a few areas where she disagreed with the president, which she spells out in her letter. She said, look, I wanted to stand with survivors. I oppose this idea of a moratorium on AI regulation. I don't think we should just have the tech oligarchs do whatever they want. And I don't like the idea of foreign wars.

I don't like us shooting boat foreign wars. I don't like, as I said, shooting boatmen off the coast of Venezuela. And she says she supported Donald Trump in 2015 when no one did. But her deviating on Epstein, on health care premiums, on AI regulation, on anti-war was too much for Donald Trump. And frankly, she believes he's losing touch with some of the coalition that he built.

I think Marjorie Taylor Greene is on a straight up quest to run for president. In my opinion, that's the whole point of this little reinvention tour she's been on. Donald Trump made it painfully clear she wasn't climbing any higher inside MAGA world.

She was devastated when he snubbed her for his cabinet, which is honestly dark comedy when you look at the carnival of lunatics he did put in there. And still, somehow MTG didn't make the cut. But once he blocked her from running for governor and made it clear she wasn't getting within a mile of the Senate, she did what every opportunistic grifter eventually does. She decided to freelance her own future. She grabbed her political career with both hands and started manufacturing a new storyline for herself. And let's be honest, she's gotten exactly the kind of glowing press she wanted by taking swings at Donald Trump. If that was her goal, she absolutely

accomplished it. So now Marjorie Taylor Greene and the husband who's along for the ride, whether he likes it or not, will spend the next few months or years trying to carve out a post-Trump brand. They'll keep attacking Donald Trump, they'll keep soaking up that sweet look who's finally standing up to media attention, and they'll keep pretending this was all principle instead of pure ambition. I'm not giving her any credit, not today, not ever, but I am thrilled to watch her go after Donald Trump because nothing sets him off faster, and every time she pokes him, he has another meltdown. early this morning. The first about herself, saying, I have just gotten the highest poll numbers of my political career. While my great work on the economy has not yet been fully appreciated, it will be.

Things are really rocking. Stopping wars and foreign relations seem to be a strong suit. Also great, the border, and stopping crime. I predict that the economy, with the already highest stock market ever and prices coming sharply down from the Biden disaster, will soon be at the top of the list.

Okay, this is a bunch of lies. But of course Trump also had to chime in on Marjorie Taylor Greene, writing, Marjorie Trader Brown, because of plummeting poll numbers and not wanting to face a primary challenger with a strong Trump endorsement where she would have no chance of winning, has decided to call it quits. Her relationship with the worst Republican congressman in decades, Tom Massey of Kentucky,

also known as Rand Paul Jr., because he votes against the Republican Party, and really good legislation did not help her, for some reason, primarily, that I refused to return her never-ending barrage of phone calls. Marjorie went bad. Nevertheless, I will always appreciate Marjorie and thank her for her service to our country. Okay, so is she a traitor, or has she served this country? Because those two labels don't exactly braid together neatly. And nothing about Marjorie Taylor Greene has ever been neat. But Donald Trump is in such a full-body panic right now that he'll call her whatever fits

the day's tantrum. He knows what's coming. MTG is about to spend every waking minute turning her flamethrower directly on him, and she's going to hit him where it actually hurts on substance, not on loyalty tests. And here's the uncomfortable part. She's not wrong about some of it. Her criticism of the billions Trump sent to a genocidal regime in Israel, a government that's carried out

mass slaughter and violated ceasefire terms within hours that critique lands. Israel remains an apartheid state. That's just fact. MTG didn't invent that point, but she's grabbing onto it now because it stings Trump. She's also hammering him on health care, pointing out that Trump and the GOP have absolutely no plan for spiraling medical costs. Now, to be clear, she doesn't either, and if she did, it would somehow manage to be worse than Obamacare. But again, the criticism isn't wrong. She's even hitting

him for being obsessed with foreign policy, not because she's discovered nuance, but because she knows Trump only does foreign policy when it means someone overseas is about to compliment him. So yes, her attacks are accurate. But spare me the redemption arc. I don't think Marjorie Taylor Greene had some profound moral awakening. If you're done with political violence and cruelty, you start by apologizing to David Hogg, the kid you stalked

through Washington like a deranged hall monitor. You speak up when Donald Trump calls for Democrats to be executed. You don't post a 12-minute resignation video whining about threats to your safety while ignoring his threats against everyone else's. MTG has not changed. She is not enlightened. She is not brave. She is simply self-interested. And her self-interest now requires torching Donald Trump on the way out. So I'm not joining the sanitizing Marjorie tour.

I'm not writing love letters to her courage. What I am going to do is kick back, put my feet up, maybe crack open a Modelo and savor this disaster like a late-night guilty pleasure film about the collapse of a movement that richly deserves to die. I think J.D. Vance is jealous. I think he, the president wants to use him as a running

mate. They really got along fantastic.

It was a surprise to see those two getting along as well as they did. A couple of times I asked the mayor-elect a tougher question and the president almost helped him dodge

it.

This was a love fest. It's a respect fest.

A respect fest. Now, Mayor-elect Mamdani is the one who requested the meeting, but I think it was the Trump administration that hoped to co-opt some of his credibility. I mean, Mamdani's whole deal, the driving force behind this successful

and truly improbable campaign has been, as you've heard a thousand times now,

the issue of affordability. Now, anyone who's watched this show for longer than 10 minutes knows I'm a full-blown Zoran Mamdani enjoyer. The guy's policies are actually good. He's sharp. He's grounded. And let's be honest, he's got that rare political charisma that doesn't feel like it was grown in a lab. Meanwhile, Trump only likes him because Trump thinks Zoran looks like a telegenic winner. That's all Trump ever cares about. Vibes, whiting, angles, and whether the person in front of him makes him feel like a winner

for five uninterrupted seconds. If you flatter the ego, the policy part barely matters. And genuinely, Mamdani is one of the more charming people I've ever met. Top 10, top five, without breaking a sweat. So I wasn't shocked in the slightest

when he walked right into that room and surgically declawed Donald Trump, made him melt into a puddle of agreeable mush. That's what happens when a real adult walks into the space, usually reserved for the fox brain parade float Trump has become. But the fox reaction? Absolutely hysterical. They're

They can't smear Mamdani as dangerous or incompetent or some cartoon villain of Blue State chaos, not after their own golden calf, Donald J. Trump, stood there nodding along like he discovered a new best friend. Trump co-signed everything. Every policy. Every vibe. Every word. Zoran played him like a fiddle. And Fox can't stand it.
