The United Stand89 views

Hello, everybody.Welcome to the United Stands.I'm Mark Goldbridge. This is your latest Manchester United transfer news. And I think it's safe to say tonight that this summer transfer window just went crazy. We'll explain why that.

0:13

Jorge Mendes, Real Madrid, Fernandes, PSG, Rafael Leal, Rafael Leal.I mean, there's just so many things to delve into tonight. And Edison's been called up for Brazil.in the World Cup, which is fantastic news.Yeah.And also, look, just a big shout out at the start.

0:30

Christian Eriksen was playing a game with Denmark today. It's been called off, went down, players all around him again.Thankfully, he got up and we're hearing that he's going to be OK.But, you know, that was like a flashback to a horrible time. So, look, thank God that Eriksen appears to be OK after that.Obviously, it's down to him, but Seriously, I think you've had a great career.

0:53

Retire, mate, and enjoy what you've achieved. But I'm just grateful that he's OK.So lots to get into tonight. And yes, I do feel like it's time to get ready and fasten your seatbelts.Ben Jacobs with some interesting updates around Fernandez as well to delve into.A little bit I want to talk about about Dorgu if we've got time as well.

1:14

But I think things are about to get very interesting and it's directly linked to Real Madrid, George Mendes. And what's going to happen in this transfer window now is about to be very, very, very significant for Manchester United. So let's get ready.Eight o 'clock show as well.So always get your comments in.Welcome to all you legends as always.

1:33

3:15

I think there's a few bullshitters coming out, you know. You know, I'm not scared to say it.People say it about us.It's absolutely fine. It's no skin off my nose.I think we are starting to get a lot of bullshit that's coming out who know absolutely nothing but pretend they do.

3:30

I know how Man United operate. They don't just give information to anybody. They don't.We've been doing this for 10 years. It's really hard to get information out of Man United. They'll give a little bit to The Athletic.

3:39

They'll give a little bit to Romano. They'll give a little bit to some of the journalists in the press conferences. And they'll give a little bit to David Ornstein. But they're not going to give it to some random. They just don't do that.So when I hear people saying United are going to sign Fernandes and then it's going to be Buleyba, I just think scaring people.

3:55

wankers. You know, because that's, you know, that's my nightmare, but that's not what Man United are planning to do at all.

4:02

So don't worry that we're going for Baleba after Fernandez. It's just not. It's just not. It's not in the plan.It doesn't mean Belayba won't end up at Man United, but there are other plans ahead of that.Certainly Scott, Anderson, Chiomini, maybe even Tonali.

4:17

So there's a lot of things that have got to go wrong for that.Yeah.But look.Big things happening with the Real Madrid elections that are going to have a right impact on us.And this really will impact on Fernandes, Chiamini and maybe even Tonali. We're going to delve into that.

4:36

But first of all, I want to say congratulations to our new, not yet official signing, but will be in early July, Edison.Unlucky for Wagner, the Brazilian right backs picked up an injury.A lot of people picking up injuries in this last week before the World Cup.So he's picked up an injury, which means they've had to call up somebody else.So Edison has been called up to the Brazilian World Cup squad.Jami said no, he hasn't.

5:06

Oh, yes, he has. It's not a bloody pantomime. It wasn't Wagner. It was Wesley.Sorry.I was halfway right.

5:14

Well, I got W right.Anyway, it's a W for Edison. He's in the World Cup.Which is fantastic.I've never really understood why he didn't get picked for the World Cup, because I don't think Brazil's midfield is that good, to be honest. And I mean, look, it's vindication for all of us who think Edison's not horrific.

I've said all along, it's not the most exciting signing, but he's not as bad as some people think he is.And as long as he's the third or fourth choice midfielder, it's not a bad stand, is it?It's not a bad thing.um so you know at the end of the day in the space of a few days doing a deal with atalanta he's now going to the world cup so i i think this is good because i always i remember the i think it was the world cup when we bought fred and You watch those games hoping Fred's going to get on.I don't think he did, to be honest.I think Fred was part of the World Cup squad when we bought him, but I don't think he really played.

6:15

So Edison might not get any minutes. He might get some minutes.I mean, he's going in as a late injury replacement, but it's a positive for him, isn't it?And I said when we bought him, I guarantee he's going to get in the Brazil squad in the next internationals because he's a Man United player now.So look, good.good.

6:34

And I think that, I mean, the thing is, you can't please everybody, can you?And that's absolutely fine.I actually heard some people moaning, and they might have been the same people who are moaning about assigning him. They were moaning that now he doesn't get a preseason. And it's sort of like, well, you know, I mean, what do you want?Like, do you want What is it you want?

7:02

Do you want to moan about he's not a Brazilian international and we shouldn't abort him?Or do you want to moan that he is now a Brazilian international and he's not getting a preseason?I think that interestingly, you know, he probably won't.He would have been.Look, it's a fair point. He would have been preseason in the first week of July.

7:20

Now it'll be preseason the first week of August. So he does lose a month and we won't get to see him in the preseason games, which I suppose, I mean, I'm sort of hitting myself live here.I would like, I think those pre -season games are going to be shit.

7:36

You know, we're going to be watching Mason Mount, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw. You know, it's not going to be very interesting unless we have some new signings.

7:44

And Edison being there would have been a new signing, but he won't be there now.So I suppose from that point of view, the preseason games are a little less interesting. But in relation to him having a preseason, it might have an impact.I mean, does it give him a little bit more of an excuse that he needs a little bit of time to adjust?Maybe. What would Man United think about it?

8:09

I suspect Man United might have preferred him not to be in the World Cup, actually.

8:13

But I think from a fan perspective, it's good. But I think Man United would have preferred him not to be in it.Yeah, because they would have been like, he gets a full preseason, he gets to settle in, he'll be a bit fresher than everybody else.Whereas now he's got a longer summer. But ultimately, I think it's a positive, isn't it?

8:28

I see it as a positive.Let us know your thoughts.Lewis Hall official says so Man United gets you into the World Cup squad hmm interesting be right back gonna talk to my agent I'll imagine if it was the real one Chumini and Hall or Tenali and Truffaut and Mark.I don't watch too much Bundesliga Could you give us a brief on what type of player Noosa is says Sihan Noosa is a quick good shot flair player who works really hard on the left hand side and you'll get to see a bit of him in the World Cup.I think he's a really good player.Wishing Christian Eriksen a speedy and full recovery, says Mojo.

9:03

Thank you very much.Thoughts on Luis Enrique, left winger 19, says Mark Hughes.Don't really have any thoughts.Five years of TUS.Here's to another five.I don't have any thoughts, Mark.

9:13

I don't really have any thoughts on him.Five years of United Stand. Here's to another five.Who's next in for you, Mark, says Simon.Well, we're going to talk about that.Just got here.

9:23

Can't start again, please. No, I'm not starting again, Thomas.Great result for Lewis Hamilton in the Monaco and live and direct on the flagship Sunday night show with the great community. We wish Christian Eriksson all the best and say hi to Mark and the United stand.Hope everyone's had a good day, says Daniel. You too.

9:37

OK, let me do that.this then.So get ready.I think things are about to go crazy in the transfer window and I think it's going to have a direct impact on us.Some interesting updates around Fernandes to bring you from Ben Jacobs in a moment.

9:51

But ultimately, all the exit polls on the Real Madrid presidential election suggest that Perez has won.So he will stay as Real Madrid president, which means Jose Mourinho will be the manager. This is expected to be announced any moment.

10:06

So with that comes two things. One, a declaration that they're going to spend big, especially on the midfield. And two, we know because Fabrizio Romano said it only only a couple of days ago.He basically said that Florentino Perez and George Mendez are in good relationships. They have a very good relationship now.And of course, George Mendez is the agent of Virginia, Neves, Fernandez.

10:44

So I think that what we have got now is a scenario where Real Madrid have Perez, and they're going to walk into the market and start trying to do the things that they want to do.And that's going to have a very big impact on us, because we have a good relationship with George Mendez and we have a reasonably good relationship with Real Madrid. We've taken Varane, we've taken Casimiro in recent years. We have a good relationship with George Mendez.I think he helped us on the Yoro deal.He certainly helped us on the Agaté deal.

11:18

So this, So George Mendes is going to be a very important player in this transfer window. Not an actual player, he's too old, but you know, as a super agent, he'll have a big, big part to play.

What we don't know at the moment is how it's going to run, because Fabrizio did announce

11:51

They've said, no, we're not breaking up the team that's going for three Champions Leagues in a row.

11:55

We can literally equal Real Madrid's recent record with Zidane. We're not weakening our team to help the team that we're trying to equal the record of.So Vettinia and Neves are apparently not for sale. Now, that becomes good for Man United in one way, because why would PSG sign Fernandez when they've already got Neves and Vettinia?

12:18

So maybe they're not going to do that. But Do we trust that that's going to happen?Real Madrid have said that they are going to spend £150 million on Tuesday on a player.Bayern Munich have come out and said they're not selling Alisa either. So who is it?

12:32

But it's going to cause a lot of things to happen. And of course, we're sort of sat there with bated breath in a sense, because Cermini and Fernandes are two players where we'd like both. We'd certainly like one of them. One of them's at Real Madrid, Cermini. And if they're going to buy midfielders, then he could leave. And that's where they could bring some money in because we'd happily take him.

12:54

He's our dream target. Also, Real Madrid themselves have been linked to Fernandes as well. And George Mendes has a very good relationship with Florentino Perez. And he is the agent of Fernandez so things are about to kick off big -time because Perez will be announced tonight Mourinho will be announced tomorrow and Probably sign somebody on Tuesday where man United are gonna fall into all this is going to be very interesting We just have to keep ourselves in the conversation.Well, you know ultimately people aren't gonna like what's going onsay here, but we have to pitch ourselves into this relationship where we get what we can.

13:34

We're not Premier League winners. We're not Champions League contenders.Real Madrid are, PSG are, Arsenal are.So we're not necessarily in a position where we can barge our way to the front and beat everybody. But what we can do is get involved in conversations with George Mendes where we say, look, This is what we want to do.How does that play out for you in relation to what you need to do?

14:05

For example, if there is a midfielder going to Real Madrid, can we be involved in that to take Chiomini? There are multiple opportunities here.I mean, look, I trust Romano's right when PSG say they're not selling Vettina or Neves.I actually felt it was Vettina and was thinking Vettina from PSG to Real Madrid, Chiomini to us.And maybe PSG want Fernandes, I don't know, but maybe we still get Fernandes. But I think what we need to do, and I think we will do this, and it is a positive, is that we do have good relationships with Jorge Mendes and we do have good relationships with PSG and Real Madrid.

14:46

So as long as we put ourselves in a position, we shouldn't end up with nothing. It's very, you know, there is a scenario where we end up with Chiumini and Fernandes, but there's definitely a scenario where we end up with one of them. And, you know, that's better than none of them.

15:00

So I think it's going to be It's going to get very interesting in the next few days, so I would get ready. And as I said to you yesterday morning, I think a bid for Fernandes is going to go in imminently, probably this week, because we're going to get clarity on what's happening. Now, what Ben Jacobs has said today around this situation is that Fernandes is one ofwatch right now, definitely one to watch.West Ham do want 80 million but the price might come down as West Ham will need the cash at some point. There is competition from PSG, but also Arsenal potentially are looking at it.

15:41

But they do also now have Lewis Skelly, who they may be able to redirect into the midfield and buy a left back instead. So do they actually need a midfielder? So maybe Arsenal are out of the equation.

15:54

But I think it's a good thing.Look, I was having this chat with somebody this afternoon about Fernandes specifically, because there's a lot of stuff floating out there.

16:03

And Look, everybody knows that there is no exclusive here. We've spoken about it, Ben Jacobs has spoken about it, Fabrizio Romano has spoken about it.Everybody's spoken about it in fairness.Fernandes is a player that Man United really, really want.

16:20

So what's best outcome for us?Well, it's a little bit like watching a film.We don't want to switch it off.and not know what the ending is.We want to know the ending. And I think we're getting to the point very, very soon where we find that ending.

16:36

And I don't think it's a coincidence that it's roughly around the same time where we found out about Imbermo. So, look, Quency says we won't get neither.I can't, I'm speculating, but I know stuff about Ciumini, and I keep saying this, I don't see anybody really talking about Ciumini, and yet I know a lot about Ciumini.and it surprises me that none of the so -called in -the -nose aren't talking about it because that is definitely something United can do if certain things happen.

17:14

If Real Madrid don't buy midfielders it won't happen but I think Real Madrid are going to buy midfielders so it depends.what you want, really.Who would you rather get, Fernandes or Choup?I mean, that's a great question.I do think that they are intrinsically linked in relation to what we're talking about tonight. We're talking about the presidential elections, which Perez is going to win.

17:41

And we're talking about a lot of money that's going to get spent that's going to probably have a big impact on PSG and Man United more than anybody else. And there is multiple scenarios. There is Fernandes comes to us, Real Madrid buy a couple of midfielders and Chiamini comes to us.There is Real Madrid get a PSG midfielder, PSG get Fernandes and we get Chiamini. So there are multiple scenarios here.I think Man United want Chiamini more than Fernandes, by the way, because he's our dream.

18:18

But I don't think we end up with neither. That would be failure. That would be unacceptable.I don't think we end up with neither. But I do think sometimes you can't give the answer and what's going to happen is slightly out of our hands. And I'm comfortable with that.

You know, I think some people would be critical and say, oh, you know, rubbish, you know, just shows you how far we've fallen.

18:43

Well, maybe that is true. But also, I do accept that last season we finished 15th, this season we finished third. It's our first year back in the Champions League for a couple of years. We're not Premier League contenders.

18:54

We're not a Champions League contender. And we're sort of getting involved in battles where you're up against two or three of the biggest teams in the world at the moment. So you've got to box carefully there because you can end up getting knocked out. What we don't want to do is get knocked out of both Ciuomini, Anderson and Fernandez deals. We want to keep ourselves in a situation. And you might have to give one up to get the other, but there is definitely a scenario where we get both.

19:24

And I'd be very surprised with the relationship we have with George Mendes that that doesn't happen. So, yeah, I'm interested to see how it's going to play out.But look, how many times have we over the summer said this week's going to be a big week and then it's not been a big week but I think that the domino effect is about to kick in and my suspicions are we are linked to George Mendez and Real Madrid quite heavily in relation to what they're going to do and what I mean by that is George Mendez does like to do deals where multiple things are going on.And sorry, let me just get rid of Lawrence.I think he's falling asleep.

20:07

There we go.

20:08

You're all right, Lawrence.

20:09

You won't be getting seen anymore.

20:10

So, yeah, I think keep a strong eye on the next 24 to 48 hours.I mean, somebody said, what if Real Madrid are going for a lease and it's got nothing to do with PSG?That's still a good thing.

20:24

Still a good thing, because it means PSG are keeping their team together. And there is competition for Fernandes, but maybe it's not as big competition as come and play in the midfield for Man United.I mean, I heard a brilliant comment today. We talk about Fernandes preferring to come to Manchester United, but what are we actually offering him?Because if we get Tonali or Tuomini, they will start with Menou and Fernandes will be on the bench. So what are we actually offering him?

20:57

That could be the same as what PSG and Arsenal are offering.I don't think he starts for Arsenal.I don't think he necessarily starts for PSG.But I don't think he necessarily starts for us.So I think that, you know, we're probably all in the same boat there. But

21:10

we're Manchester United. We're in the Premier League.Bruno Fernandes is here.

21:15

We're playing in the Champions League, so there are still lots of reasons to come.Would you still take Stiller if he was an option, says Mol.I really do like Stiller.I think a lot of you will get to see him hopefully in the World Cup, although he might not start actually. But I do think Stiller is a good player, but it's gone very, very quiet with him at the moment.Juxi says, I had a dream last night where Sir Jim just screamed, just get bloody Anderson and we casually dropped 120 million and I woke up and Romano was silent.

21:44

Well, you know me, mate.I still won't believe that Anderson's impossible until he's holding up a Man City shirt.I've always said it.I know I'm deluded.I know that's what people think, but I've always felt that there's something about Anderson.I feel like United are working.

22:02

Well, I know that United are working on a few things. They might be nice things. They might be bad things. It's almost like looking at 10 plans with a letter on each of them.Plan A, plan B, plan C, plan D, plan E, plan F, plan G. And it's just going to be which one we actually do.What if Real Madrid come for Bruno?

22:25

Yeah, I mean, Trini, I don't think that's going to happen.I mean, that would blow the bloody doors off.

22:39

I don't think that's going to happen.I really don't.There is a release clause there and it's 60 million, but I don't think that would happen.I mean, there's not a lot we can do.

22:52

We just have to hope he says no.But I don't think that would happen. What if we get offered Camavinga, says Dan.I mean, we might get offered Camavinga.I think Camavinga is an interesting one.I've got to be honest.

23:05

for me, it worries me a little bit, but I still think there's a good player there.

23:10

The problem with Camavinga is I don't think he's any better than a Scott or a Fernandes on paper in relation to he's a work in progress.Whereas a Chiomini, a Tonali or a Anderson, I think they give you that marquee element that we need.I don't think Camavinga is a marquee signing. He's a good player. But I don't think he's a marquee signing.

23:31

Emily Derry.Thank you very much, Emily.I hope you're doing very well.Member for 50 months says 150 million bid from Real Madrid. That is one hell of a shortlist and certainly it'll put the cat amongst the pigeons.Probably won Perez the vote.

23:42

Yeah.I mean, I think there's a lot of guessing about who it is. I would I would say it's not good for us.It's interesting on the either or.I'm loving the show tonight. Why don't you do commentary for Morocco -Norway as it's gone off on ITV4?

24:01

I don't do friendlies unless it's England, but I'll be doing plenty of watch -alongs for the World Cup when it's competitive, mate.

24:08

64 % of you would go with Ciumini.36 % of you would go with Fernandes. That's probably where I am.It's no reflection on Fernandes.

24:20

I just think, quite simply, Edison is the third tier midfielder.Fernandes is the second tier midfielder and Tuomini, Tenali, Anderson would be the top tier midfielder. It's really important that we get the top tier midfielder and Tuomini therefore is the marquee signing. So I would take him over Fernandes if I had to choose because he is the marquee.I would like to get both.

24:45

But as Emily was saying there, I don't know what scenario I want from this Real Madrid thing.I know this Real Madrid £150m signing is going to put a cat amongst the pigeons.Absolutely it is.But what do we want it to be?Do we want it to be a Lycee from Bayern Munich and then PSG keep their midfielders?Maybe they leave Fernandes alone and we get him?

25:09

Then we need Real Madrid to still buy midfielders so that we can get Chiomini.

25:13

Do we want Real Madrid to be signing Boutinho or Neves so that then they sell us Chiomini but they might get Fernandes as a replacement?I want a scenario where we get both.

25:25

um if i'm being completely honest with you and i think that um it's but it's the real madrid do need to buy midfielders if we want to meaning but on the other hand i mean look real madrid could buy fernandez as well they have been linked to him real madrid could buy fernandez apparently marino really likes him so If it's an either or, I'd take Chiomini over Fernandes, but I'd like a scenario where we get both.I think where we get both, the £150m player is Alise, Real Madrid still go and buy Rodri, Enzo Fernandes, and we get Chiomini. So that's probably the best scenario for me because Real Madrid have been linked to Rodri, they have been linked to Enzo Fernandes. If they get both of them, or one of them, That means they can still sell Tuomini. We could get Tuomini and Fernandes. So that's what I'm hoping for.

26:20

Somebody just said to me Masraoui's out of the World Cup.

26:24

I hope not, because he's had such a up and down season with injuries so far.Just a statement come out from Denmark. They're saying Christian Eriksen's doing well and walked off the pitch by himself. As I see it, the pacemaker responded as it should. That's good news.I don't, I don't.

27:07

I can't see anything on Mazraoui.I've just been told by Matt, our producer, that it doesn't seem to be too serious either, so.Just been subbed off.Hopefully it's a small one.Yeah, I mean, I'm really excited about the World Cup, but I'm so praying that, like, Bruno and Meunier and Harry Kane and, you know, even bloody Casimiro and Vinicius Junior and Haaland, you just don't want any of them players to be getting England injured.Yeah.

27:37

Matthew says, blocking the truth. What a joke of a channel.I don't know who's blocking anything, mate, to be honest with you.I mean, pray tell us.I mean, we're just having a nice Sunday night show talking about football.I don't think anybody's blocking anything.

27:50

I don't know what to make of this.Toxic Sunday, work tomorrow.Anyway, Real get Enzo or Rodri, we get Fernandes and Chiumini. That's exactly where I'm at, Anthony. Thanks for your super chat.Any talk of a backup goalkeeper, Marks, as a candidate?

28:07

Yeah, we've been linked to Sam Johnston at Wolves, which I'm not saying Sam Johnston at Wolves as a backup goalkeeper is the one.But I like that type of signing.I mean, a backup goalkeeper should just be somebody that can do a job if the worst comes to the worst, you know?Yeah.Do you think if I try hard enough...Oh, here we go, Hamza.

28:31

Do you think if I try hard enough, do you think I can make it as a manager? Also love the career modes, amazing community here and on That's Football.

28:38

I think if you try hard enough at something and you've got talent, then yes, you can.If you're crap, it doesn't matter how hard you try.And you know what, Hamza?

I'm not joking.I'm literally giving you one of themost important life lessons ever.If you're not very good at something, it doesn't matter how hard you work, you won't make it.If you are good enough, and you work hard, you've got a great chance of making it.For example, I would love to be lead guitarist for Oasis.

29:10

I won't even be rhythm guitarist for Oasis, I'm not good enough. So there's no point anybody telling me I can do anything I want, because I can't.You know, I would love to have played up front for Man United.I was never going to be a striker.I'd never have bloody played up front for Maidstone United. So, you know, if you've got the talent, work hard.

29:29

You've got a great chance.Evening, Mark.Hope you're there. You're well. Are there any updates with the outgoings and who are your dark horses for the World Cup, says Sean?Well, I've just done my World Cup predictor from start to finish.

29:40

It's on That's Football. And what I can give you as a spoiler is, now that I've actually gone through it, because I purposely hadn't done it till today on purpose, I've not looked at any of the other groups or how the pathways work.Norway, I had in the quarterfinals, so they would be the dark horse, yeah.Edison is with Brazil. We can now negotiate better with other clubs as we've got a Brazilian international for 35 million.Clever first signing, says Cy.

30:05

I like how you've done that.George Mendes doesn't represent Chiomini or Enzo, says Max Loves Cookies.

30:12

I've got no idea what that means.I don't know what that means, mate.We don't need...

30:21

OK, sometimes you have to take a deep breath and it gives you a headache. So if George Mendes is involved in Fernandez going to somewhere and he's involved in João Neves or Virginia going to Real Madrid, he's very involved in this summer transfer window. We don't need him to represent Chiomini because we've got brilliant relationships with Chiomini's agent. And if Real Madrid want to sell Tuomini, they would more than happily bring him to Man United. So we don't need George Mendes to be involved in that.

30:57

Mikey says, is that the real Lewis Hall?I very much doubt it.I mean, Lewis Hall is apparently on holiday at the moment. He might have had a few pina coladas and be on his phone saying stuff, but I very much doubt it.If it is, Lewis, we'd love you at Man United, but don't let Man United, don't let Newcastle fans know because they'll lose their shit and you'll ruin their Monday.George Mendes also got us a gate.

31:17

Yeah, I mean, George Mendes.does, you know, he's good on the deals. It's up to us if we're getting the right players.Back says, Good evening, Mark.Hope everyone is well. Can't wait for the World Cup to start.

31:29

Hopefully it's coming home.Love your hard work.Thank you very much, pal.And don't forget that's football's the place to be for all the World Cup stuff. It's going to be very busy on here, but we will still be doing our daily content as well.We are waiting again to see what others do in the window to finally talk to players while their heads are already turned.

31:50

You need the best to be the best, says the ultimate dishwasher.Yeah, but you know what, mate?Again, yet again, I would say...

32:00

Sorry, I've just been saying something like that.I would say that, you know, United are working on deals. It's whether those deals get done.United probably are waiting on other people, but sometimes you've got to know your place. You have to.You know, if you are in a Formula One race and you're third, you know, look at Lewis Hamilton today.

32:26

He finished second in the Monaco Grand Prix.he ain't never getting a chance at first place because the mercedes is quicker than him so what does he do does he absolutely tear the car to bits and end up you knowspinning out and not coming second?Or you just stay in your lane and you stay second? We're not in a position where we can go toe to toe with Real Madrid or PSG at the moment. So we've got to be careful about what we do.

32:53

There would be no point in putting a bid in for Fernandez right now if PSG are going to put in a bid as well. There wouldn't be.So, you know, sometimes you have got to wait and see what's going to happen.

33:10

And sometimes there is a bigger dog in the fight than you and or a faster horse or a better looking person.

33:18

You know, I think I want Man United to be where it was for 20 years.

33:26

I want Man United to be the biggest and the best. And we can be there, but we're not there at the moment. And that's part of climbing the ladder.I keep saying this. We're not going to go from bottom of the ladder to top of the ladder. And we're certainly not going to go from bottom of the mountain to top of the mountain.

33:37

We're going to have to, you know, climb, base camp, climb, camp, climb, camp and work our way up.And, you know, maybe in three or four years, we'll be able to whack a, you know, we'll be able to go for the next year Malt and Real Madrid want him.and PSG won him, but we're Man United. That's what we've got to work towards.I mean, whether that'll ever happen with this ownership is debatable.Sass says, I would take Chiomini over Tonali.

One has won the Champions League and a Liga, and the other has just played in the Champions League, says Sass.Well, 64 % of you would take Chiomini over Fernandes. So let me end the poll.Okay, I'm going to run a poll on this one.Just Sunday night, we could do this sort of stuff.Either or, Chiomini, Tonali.

34:38

Would you take Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid or Galea as they both can't get into the Real Madrid sides as Adam? No, I don't want Yildiz from Juventus.I don't want Rodgers from Aston Villa.I don't want Galea from Real Madrid.I don't want Gibbs White from Nottingham Forest. All good players, but I don't want the icing on the cake when I haven't made the cake.

35:00

At some point, well, I think we have to bake the cake. The icing's fantastic.but we haven't baked the cake.So all these players are good players.Diaz, Guilherme, Yildiz, Rodgers, they're all good players, but we haven't baked the cake.So spend the money on the ingredients for the cake.

35:22

And then when we've baked the cake, let's get the icing. So I don't need Morgan Rodgers for 80 million quid.I need three really good midfielders, a left back, preferably a right back as well, certainly a backup striker.Spend the money on that.Spend the money on that. That's what I would say.

35:41

Could it even be Anderson to Real Madrid, says Jackie.

35:48

I would never rule out Jose Mourinho signing Premier League players for Real Madrid.I really wouldn't.

35:58

Old Trafford says, do you think the midfield situation this year is a little bit like the striker situation last year?Yes and no.I think that...God, where am I going here?Yes and no.I think that the striker market last summer to us was the number one priority and the midfield market this summer is the number one priority.

36:21

Well, what I would say is there was less strikers available last summer than there is midfielders. There are so many midfielders available this summer.of Tonali, Chiumini, Fernandes, and probably Edison.Let's say Edison is one.So you've got him. You've got to get two now out of Anderson, Fernandes, Chiumini, Tonali.

37:15

And if they do that, well done. The problem comes when we don't get those options because Michael Carrick deserves, well any manager, any Man United manager deserves that. It's such an important stage.

37:28

And I think most of you understand that, and it's important sometimes to repeat this, Casemiro last season was one of the best midfielders in the league for defensive actions, successful defensive actions. One of the best in the league. He was averaging like 15, 15 -16.Belay -Burt Anderson were around nine.So he was a defensive monster.

37:54

Now a lot of that's probably because he's got Mainu next to him who isn't particularly good defensively, so he's got to do a lot of defensive work.

38:00

But in addition to that, he's scoring goals. He's scoring goals. So And in addition to that, he's a multi -Champions League winner, massively Brazilian capped international, and one of the best holding midfielders of a generation. So you've got this defensive monster who scores goals, who is a leader. That's a massive void. And we mustn't allow anybody to tell us it's not.

38:28

You don't fill that void with, they might be a good player.

38:33

There has to be somebody that comes in through the door where you go, all right, you're not Casemiro, but you might be.Somebody has to be that, somebody.

38:45

PalasRedDevil says, hope Ericsson is fine.Great show, Mark, great community.Yeah, just in relation to...Ericsson, obviously before we signed him, he collapsed for Denmark in the Euros, didn't he?

38:59

And, you know, thankfully he recovered.I think he had some sort of mechanical pacemaker attached so that when his heart goes again, it will automatically defib, which apparently is what happened here.So he is Rick, you know, he's on the road to recovery. He has collapsed again today for Denmark, but and the game did get cancelled, but everything coming out is that, you know, he's in a good place. Some people might not know that, that's why I'm saying it.

39:28

Can you show the Hotometer please, says M3.I can't show it tonight.I'll get it back on the morning show for you, yeah.JMR says we've got a lot of games next season. It'll be guaranteed game time.We need both, in my opinion.

39:40

Thank you very much. And Esev says, does PSR impact how much we spend in the midfield?Yeah, I mean, to be honest with you, I've got to say, we haven't really had the FFP, PSR bullshit from the journalists this year, which is a good thing.

For the last two years. We started getting it in April and May about you know s and all that bollocks, so We've not really heard about it and that means to me two things one you know I'd know they can't put it out there because it will get quashed and Two they don't want to put it out there, so we're obviously gonna spend some money How about Gretzky or was he a step down as I said?I think Goretzka at 31 from Bayern Munich is just not the right move for Man United. And he's free as well, so he'd want really good wages. It's not the right move for Man United.

40:31

Toby says I'm hungry and tired.Go to bed with a sandwich. What's the striker market actually looking like, says Jack.

40:40

You tell me, mate.I I legit don't know what the striker market looks like really at all.I mean there are people out there There is Igor Thiago. There is Vlahovic.I think they're just too expensive for Manchester United one on wages one on fee A lot of people talk about Mateta.I think he's a good option, but I don't think you know I'd like it So yeah, I don't really know Brian Brobby at Sunderland interesting and Thank you very much for that Rob How many central midfielders do you think we need?

41:19

2 plus Mainou or 3 plus Mainou, says Ryan.Well, Ryan's giving a super chat here, so I feel I need to answer this.So let me explain it to you, Ryan.We have Mainou at the moment and Agaté.Agaté needs to be sold.So we have Mainou.

41:36

We start the season with Mainou and Edison and nobody else.

41:43

We buy two midfielders and one of them's on the bench. And then after an hour, you need to change your midfielders. You can only change one of them.If one of your midfielders get injured, you can't change any of them.So we need four midfielders, minimum. So we need to buy three.

41:59

It's not about greed from the fan base. It's about stupidity from the club if they don't buy three midfielders.

42:07

To me, I don't think enough journalists care.

42:14

but in a way, it makes me laugh that we still hear that Man United might only sign one more midfielder, because it doesn't work. The maths don't work.It doesn't work.We need two midfielders on the bench.Every club needs two midfielders on the bench and we would only have one if we bought Edison and one other Back says if Rome would read sign Anderson we go for Chumini surely but wouldn't mind at least one midfielder who has played Premier League and isn't a kid.

42:48

Yes fair point and Francis says if Hall signs for United is an injury away from is an injury away from D sub WC What does that mean World Cup if Hall signs for Man United is an injury away from WC?Oh, OK.Yeah, yeah.

43:09

On Lewis Hall, and I'll credit Sam See for this.I don't even know if I'm meant to be saying it, so sorry. It's not expected to be resolved any time soon.I think a lot of players who didn't get picked for the World Cup are on holiday now.Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, etc.So Lewis Hall's probably on holiday right now.

43:34

And we'll enjoy that holiday and then probably come back from that holiday towards the end of June and have some sort of conversation with Newcastle. So I don't think there's any immediacy to the Lewis Hall deal at the moment.Certainly not.

43:53

Yeah, but look, I would like us to sign him, but yeah.Emily Derry, thanks for your super chat, says, to be fair, I think even United have done the midfield maths and we'll get three. It just needs to be the right three midfielders.

44:06

Look, You're right, Emily. Thanks for the super chat.Certain journalists say one more, at least one more, and that does panic people. But until that becomes a reality, and that won't be a reality until early September, I'm just not going to moan about it, because I just don't think...Even last summer, we needed to buy a midfielder. But when you think about it, we needed to buy a midfielder last summer.

44:50

But because Amrim turned Bruno into a midfielder, we did have Casimiro, Meunier, Bruno and Agaté.I didn't agree with it.but Bruno was turned into a midfielder. So we had four midfielders. We had Agaté, Bruno, Casemiro, Meunier.Right now, we've got Meunier, Ederson, a new signing, and then there's no one else.

45:14

Now, what if he puts Bruno back there?Well, if Carrick puts Bruno back into the midfield, I'm sorry, Carrick's the same as Amrin for me.It's criminal. So no, unless we're going to put somebody in the midfield who's not a midfielder, and it can't be Mason Mount because he's not a footballer, he's not available enough. That's the only justification I can think for only buying one more midfielder would be to put somebody back into the midfield who were not expecting Mason Mount ammo cannot be the midfielder.Man United aren't that stupid?

45:48

They're not going to use a guy that's been injured for well over 50 % of his time here in three years So we won't be using Mason Mount as a midfielder.

45:56

No Adam says I've always said that Mitchell at Crystal Palace would make a decent left back and you know fair play you you keep to your guns and what you what you think maybeUltimate Dishwasher says, I don't like disagreeing.Well, disagreeing is part of the debate, mate. It's what makes the world go round.Do you think we will buy another striker or will Carrick bring Obi back into the first team, says Sir Dave.I think a striker is low down the priority list.

I think the midfield is massively important.I think the left back is massively important. And I think they have an idea of an attacker that, as I said this morning, might be a jack -of -all -trades who can play multiple positions.Yeah.Bit harsh saying Mount's not a footballer.Well, I don't think he is.

46:49

In the sense, as a Man United fan, I don't think we can rely on him.I think he's a bonus ball.I think he's not somebody I rely on.So, I mean, there's nothing wrong with Mason Mount when he's available. He's a decent player, but I just don't find him reliable.I just don't count him as a player next season.

47:10

I see him as a bonus. If he's available, great, but I'm not.I'm sorry. After three years of Mason Mount, I don't go into next season thinking he's somebody I can rely on.I wouldn't include him as one of the attackers.I wouldn't include him as one of the midfielders.

47:23

It's just a bonus. You know, if somebody said to me, if we didn't have Kunja and somebody said to me, well, if anything happens to Bruno, we've got Mason Mount, I'd say, no, we haven't.Mason Mount's a bonus. You can't rely on Mason Mount's availability. He would say that, personally. If he was honest, he would say, look at my record over the last three years.

47:44

You can't rely on me.And look, he would want to be relied on, but he can't be relied on.That's what I mean.I'm like, I don't include Mason Mount as an option in the midfield or the attack, because the three years that we've had him, it might not be the best option.than 50%.I don't know, but the massive amount of time he's not there.

48:04

So I think we Mason Mount, good player when he's available, you put him on the bench, but you don't count on him, you know, until that changes, which it might.I mean, I doubt it, but it might.I've done that about Greska as well.Thank you everyone who's tuning in tonight by the way.I just realised we've got nearly 14 ,000 people watching Sunday night show.Thank you everybody.

48:29

Make sure you smash a like and subscribe.

48:31

Get involved with the United stand. You're all very, very welcome.Danny Welbeck is 34.A lot of people talk about Danny Welbeck being an option for Manchester United.Look, he probably wouldn't mind finishing his, he's 35 actually, he'll be 36 in November. He probably would love to come back to Man United for a year, and I think we'd all love him to come back to Man United for a year, but again, There's how much of that is romance and how much of that is viable.

49:00

I mean, he does have a contract which he literally only just signed with Brighton for another year, which means they'd have to be a transfer fee for him.I mean, it could be as little as 10 million pounds. As I say, he's 36 in November. You're going to ask quite a lot of a player. He's going to have to play twice a week.He doesn't pick up many injuries, to be fair.

49:20

In the last three years, he had a hamstring injury in the 23 -24 season. And last season, he had one injury where he had a back problem for three days. So, I mean, look, I think Ricky would be running around his garden with his top off if we signed Welbeck.I mean, I don't know what else would come off, but imagine that.We signed Danny Welbeck, and in the next few days, there's an injury in the England squad and Luke Shaw gets called up.I mean, Ricky would be, I think everything would be coming off, which is not a great thought, but then again, some people would be coming off.

49:55

it.

49:56

So yeah, look, I don't think Danny Welbeck's impossible, but it would be ridiculously short term.Any update on our best centre -back since Vidić, also known as De Ligt, says Salah?Season for him.The so -called marquee signings, Tonali and Chiomini, are not better than Alex Scott, by the way.

50:30

He can easily play as a six, technical six, and defensive six, says Al Mok.It's interesting, Al Mok, that you say that about Alex Scott, because I did see in the live chat, which is whizzing by about 20 minutes ago, someone said Alex Scott's no better than any Spurs midfielder. So the different extremities around Alex Scott's quite funny.I really like Alex Scott.I think he's a fantastic player.I've been really impressed with him this season and I'd love to see him at Man United.

50:58

I really do think that it would surprise me if we bought three midfielders, all of which are foreign, so Edison's Brazilian, Ciumini's French, and Fernandes would be Portuguese.I'd be surprised about that, but I'm still waiting on Robert McCormack to explain to me what the homegrown situation is at Man United, because I do remember a couple of years ago it was quite a big thing, but it doesn't seem to be such a big thing now.

51:25

But look, you go with what you go with, don't you?Interestingly, on Tuomini versus Tenali, 56 % of you would go with Tuomini over Tenali.

51:35

Personally, I'd go with Tenali, if I'm being honest, but I'd be very happy with either of them.As long as we get that marquee signing, I would be very happy. But yeah, going back to what we was talking about at the start of the show, Florentino Perez is about towin the Real Madrid presidential elections. That's going to have a huge impact on the transfer window.Real Madrid have made some very big promises about what they're going to do, and it's going to impact the whole of football.

52:03

So big signings coming in, Mourinho coming in.How is that going to help or hinder Man United?Well, one way or another, it's going to move things forward.I think one of the big frustrations last summer was we had a clear path at Emburmo and from this point it took six weeks and we didn't do anything else.So from the start of June to the middle of July we didn't do anything.Cunha had already been basically done and then in the middle of July we got Emburmo and then towards the end of July we got Sesco and then it wasn't till September that we got Le Mans.

52:35

So it was a lot slower last summer.I'm all for speed.I'm all for everything moving quick. We actually need to do a deal every two weeks if we get, just to get five players in from this point. So, look, hopefully this Real Madrid stuff, I'm sure it will, will move things forward and their targets will become clear.Yeah.

What's this?Sent something here.OK.Sorry, that's nothing to do with football.Someone just posted something I thought was important.

53:33

Do you think we get Fernandes, Mark? You know what?I don't think anybody has that answer.I say this every single year.

53:43

Unless you're David Alba,or Fabrizio Romano, you don't have that answer. And neither of them two have that answer at the moment. So nobody has the answer. You can guess the answer. Some people do do that.

53:55

It happened last year, didn't it?With a couple of signings, people guessed stuff and ended up being really wrong on when deals were going to happen.I certainly remember last summer, somebody saying that Embuemo was going to be, you know, here we go in the middle of June and didn't happen for another month. So, you know, There's no point in that.I think with Fernandes, it's very, very, very obvious and known that United want to sign him.You know, he's ahead of Scott, he's ahead of Buleba in that second -tier midfielder.

54:27

The issue is, I would put him at a 7 out of 10 on the Hottermeter.I think that's what he is. I wouldn't go any higher than that at the moment because we haven't had the indicator to take it that high.We haven't had, he only wants United, it's now about negotiating. When you get to that point, You're almost there. What I would say is, you're not definitely there.I heard somebody say the other day, when the player picks United, it's a done deal.

54:52

Well, I made that mistake last summer. When David Ornstein said last summer, Man United were in talks with Baleba, I was like, well, that's it.David Ornstein said that, so we've got him.

55:02

Unfortunately for David, he isn't always right. He said that Slot was staying at Liverpool and things can change.

55:09

So even if Fernandes says, you want to Man United, I'd put him up to a 9 out of 10, but you've still got to get the deal done. But I think it's a little bit different.Brighton obviously wanted ridiculous money for Buleva.I do think West Ham have to do a deal.So yeah, we definitely want Fernandes.Do I think we'll sign him?

55:28

If you want a yes or no answer, I'd say yes.But there's competition. There's definitely competition.

55:38

Yeah.Jacksy says, after show, what's your top cuisines?Well, you've asked me a question, so I will do that.

55:46

Michael Laudrup, greatest Scandinavian player, says Michael Murray.

55:54

What about Erling Haaland?Almox says, we can all agree PSG, Bayern, Barca and City play best quality of football. They all have one thing in common, a technical number six instead of a defensive number six, says Almox. He wants a technical number six. What's your top cuisines to go out for, Marks, says Jackie.

56:14

I like food.I like food. And as I'm sure most of you do, because if you don't like food, you're probably going to die.I like food, but I also have cravings for food.So sometimes I really want to go out for a roast dinner.Sometimes I really want to go out for fish and chips.

56:32

Sometimes I really want to go out for an Indian takeaway.Sometimes I really want a Chinese takeaway. So I, you know, my palate isn't consistent in the sense that I have a favorite. It just depends on what mood I'm in.So, yeah.

56:48

You can ask me some non -football questions for a couple of minutes.I don't mind doing that. Some people like the after -show element sometimes. Some of you have already gone to Love Island.

56:58

This cracks me up every single time.We had nearly 14 ,000.We're now nearly down to 13 ,000 because there are genuinely people who watch the United Stand who like Love Island. It's always been a puzzler, but you know, I like i like i used to like made in chelsea i don't watch it anymore but i used to watch that so yeah i was at a take that concert on friday i like take that i like that so you know i've got a broad music um i love going for goldbridge i need to bring going for goldbridge back i do need to bring it back uh some reports are saying we're goinggoing for Morgan Rogers.I mean, that's slow sports news.

57:38

That is slow sports news.Would you go on I'm a Celebrity? No.Leave that to Angry Ginge. He did a good job.No.

57:52

The only thing I'd like to do that's like multiple celebrity stuff, I would love to have played soccer aid.I'm probably never gonna do that now.Although actually I could do.Most of them are shit. They are, most of them are shit.I could still do it.

58:07

But no, I wouldn't do I'm a Celebrity, as I've said before.I just can't, if I go on holiday, cannot do.

58:15

I've sort of got into this routine now.For most of my life, I would go on holiday for a week or two.

58:22

I've got into this thing called, don't worry, I'm not Gary Neville, where it's a mini retirement, basically a fucking holiday.I like to go away for four or five days, play the guitar.I haven't got my plectrum and it's an electric guitar.

58:43

and I don't even know if it's in tune.

58:45

It's not even my guitar, it's Seb's, I was putting it in tune for him.I haven't really played the guitar for a while.Let's see if I can remember something from Oasis.Yeah, that's not in tune.I'll get it in tune and I'll plug it in one day, because that's an old guitar.

59:30

I haven't got me acoustic guitar yeah so I going back to what I was saying there I like a holiday for four or five days if I go on holiday for a week I get homesick unless I do stuff so if you put me in Spain for a week in a hotel complex I'll be depressed after four days I won't be able to I just don't like the you know I went on this holiday about eight years ago.It was a nice hotel, it was in Mallorca, and there was people, it was all -inclusive, right? But it was in the middle of like, Parma. And you could literally walk out the gate into Parma, look at the cathedral, go to the shops, go to the museums, go down to the beach. There was people in there who didn't leave because they didn't want to spend any money anywhere else.So they just stayed in the same complex for the whole week.

1:00:30

in the same pool, getting up early in the morning to put the towel down, eating the same food. And I was like, that's, that becomes like a prison to me. I can't do that.I have to, I have to do, I have to do different things. So going back to I'm a celebrity, that would destroy me mentally.

1:00:48

My mental health would plummet.Put, you know, like Big Brother, or I'm a celebrity, that would, mess me up, mental health, because the days would feel like weeks.I can't be in a situation where we're doing bloody tasks with the same people, sat around, bored.I can't do it.I've got a creative mind.I can't do it.

1:01:08

And also, I need my own time as well.I can't be around people 24 -7 as well.So, yeah, I don't think it's autism.I think it's just everybody's unique.That's why I love New York.It's busy.

1:01:21

I like busy.I like busy places.Yeah.But on the other hand, even when I was in New York, there was times where I just needed to be in my hotel room, you know, for an hour or two and just, you know, that sort of stuff.Don't buy fruit in Majorca.I'd sometimes go and watch that video.

1:01:41

I remember Song of the Samurai. It's very good.Samurai, says Michael Murray.

1:01:46

Do you think some academy players will be regulars in the first team squads next season and which could give regular competitions maybe a class of 92 things, says Dan.I don't think we'll ever see a class of 92 thing again. That was a unique time and we'll never repeat it.Certainly not for many years. We're not a football club that can do that as well. You know, if you think about Sir Alex Ferguson, he'd won our first Premier League title in many years.

1:02:14

He'd then won the double in 94.We then missed out on the double in 95 and he got rid of people. So, you know, he wanted to rebuild something and he rebuilt it with young players.I mean, Michael Carrick, as we've seen with Aidan Hebben, I think Aidan Hebben should have got more game time and he wouldn't give it him because he needed to chase results. When's Michael Carrick never going to be chasing results? So I think you've got to be, you know, if you're Pep Guardiola, you can blood youth.

1:02:46

I think if you're Man United at the moment, you've got to you've got to chase results.Yeah.Good question, though, Dan.Thank you very much.Would you do The Traitors, says Louis.I've never really watched it, mate.

1:03:00

It sounds a little bit better.I've never really watched it.I don't class myself as a celebrity either. But then again, you look at some of the celebrities they use and I think Love the show, been watching for four years.

1:03:14

If Glazers do sell, who would you like to buy as?The Glazers won't sell. The only thing that would make me happy would be complete sale. But have you seen like the hypocrisy that next season they're actually gonna do a green and gold kit?And it just, it makes me laugh because the Glazers, like the big thing against the Glazers was the green and gold until it sold. And they're actually gonna release a kit, green and gold.

1:03:45

They just don't care. They just don't care.Would you go on Sidemen Inside? No, no thank you.Yeah, Strictly I'd be good at.I'd be good at Strictly come dancing.

1:04:02

But you've got to give up a lot of time to that, yeah. And Arna won't be coming back.He might come back for a little bit, but they'll get rid of him again.
