Is this like some sort of word I've never heard before? Because to me it's giving pepper and mayonnaise. But surely that can't be it, right? There is no explicit public explanation provided by the founders regarding why the Sydney-based fashion brand is named Pepper Mayo. Okay well great we're starting off with a bang. The very first thing I tried to

figure out I couldn't get to the bottom of. Lovely. I have a few housekeeping things before we get started. If it sounds like I have a lisp it's because I cut my tongue on my retainer on the inside of my mouth so I had to put like a thing of wax on the inside of my mouth and it's making me a little lisp. Another thing, my hair will stay tucked behind my ear this entire video because as you know for quite a while now I've been doing my hair at home and up until this moment it has gone well but two days ago I decided to try something new and Yeah...

Yeah, honestly, I'm surprised it took this long for me to make a big mistake while doing my hair at home So I can't be too mad, but I am Disappointed that it had to be the very front face framing piece Anyways, today we are extending the long-running series on this channel where we do a deep dive of clothing brands. Today, Peppermayo. I actually didn't know what Peppermayo was, had never heard of it, until I saw one of your comments saying, Mia, can you please review Peppermayo? I don't know if it's

worth my money. And anytime I see a comment like that, I jot down the clothing brand and I'm slowly but surely getting through all of them. So, if you are ever curious about a clothing brand, make sure to comment down below because I'm always seeing your comments and writing them down. Let's see what they're all about. So obviously we're going to try and close on this video, but before we can do that, I want to go on their website, check out the ethics and sustainability.

It started as an eBay shop before becoming a full-blown fashion brand when I was shopping on the site for this video It's all very trend forward like whatever is hot and now they're gonna have a rendition of it I feel let's just dive into the ethics and sustainability. I'm really interested to click this little button here I know not everybody is keeping in mind ethics and sustainability when they're purchasing things online or in-store, so if you're somebody who doesn't care about this part of a brand, then you can feel free to skip it. But if you're somebody who does care and maybe if a brand is making

an actionable effort, whether it is to have things ethically produced or made with sustainable fibers or sustainable initiatives, then this is a helpful segment of these videos to know what brands are doing something and what brands aren't. Our mission statement is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Okay.

I'm seeing a lot of statements. I want to see some action. What are you doing here though? At a minimum, we require all of our factories to register with the supplier ethical data exchange. Okay, so the CETEX certification

is a world leading authority on ethical trade and improving working conditions in global supply chains. Our factories are required to undertake annual independent audits. See, that's a really important thing because sometimes the audits are done internally,

which I mean, they can be successful and I'm not saying that they can be successful and I'm not saying that they aren't, but I'm just saying having like a secondary independent company coming in and auditing, that I feel like is better because it's like they have no invested interest in having them pass the audit or fail the audit. So then under here we have sustainable fashion coming soon, zero waste packaging coming soon,

carbon positive coming soon, community initiatives coming soon, zero waste packaging, coming soon, carbon positive, coming soon, community initiatives, coming soon. But as it sits right now, I think based on that, we can assume not sustainable fashion, not zero waste packaging, not carbon positive, and not community initiatives. But if they truly are coming soon, then they're working on it, which means that Peppermayo is only on a trajectory to get better.

But I do like that they've put ethical manufacturing as an importance for their company. I do think it's a good thing when a brand that seems pretty big and well-developed is at least keeping it in mind. I know what you're gonna say.

Mia, you're accepting the bare minimum.

I hear you, I hear you. But you have to understand, I've reviewed so many brands and there are so many brands that couldn't give a rip about ethical production or sustainable fibers. So this is at least promising. Let's get into the products now. Peppermayo is the type of brand that has like so many pieces.

It's definitely not a small business for anyone wondering. And I would say the pricing is on the higher end. Like for instance we have this little black dress for $126 Canadian and the fabric is 50% acrylic, 22% nylon, and 28% PBT. What even is that? Polyester is the parent material. Okay is that just like a fun way of saying polyester? I don't know where the products are made

We're gonna check when we dive into clothing, but as you can see like a synthetic garment That's just a simple black dress not saying this didn't take a long time to develop because I know Simple pieces can take a long time to make but like synthetic materials potentially made in a place with a lower minimum wage, $126. It's also kind of feeling Y2K style to me. Like that is very Y2K. They even have some kind of bougier outfits, you know,

wedding attire, if you will. And now we got to see if the products are any good.

Oh my gosh, I just flew off my chair. And it revealed that I'm wearing sweatpants. I saw a comment the other day and it was like, Mia always thinking we'll be shocked that she's wearing sweatpants. But really the shock would be if I stood up and was wearing jeans. I'm kind of shocked that they were able to fit everything into this bag because I kind of remember thinking it was a large order

It always is a large order for these deep dive videos because I try to get a lot of categories But they really fit it in here certified 100% recycled post consumer polyurethane Okay, I'm gonna start with probably the most outrageous item. These are piet's Which just completely takes me back to being like six years old I used to have this little rainbow pie at purse. It literally looked just like that, but rainbow. Now this skirt, $158 for this skirt.

I know. I did see though, when I flipped it inside out, something's happening on the inside here. Oh my gosh, and there's a bunch on the back. I'm pretty sure this isn't blood. It's more, almost just like tan skin tone,

but there's quite a bit on the inside. It's weird, what is that? I guess this is a good time to check where everything's made. Okay, so this is made in China. I'm guessing everything will be made in China. So the counterpart to this green skirt is this shirt,

and it was $85. Just ignore the fact that every single price I say is wrong. I bought this all like so long ago, so the prices are like changing. So yeah, anytime I say the price, it's basically wrong, but it's what I paid for it. It's polyester and elastane, so fully synthetic.

Even though they're completely different materials, like a cotton to a polyester, I do think the greens are doing a good job of blending together, which if I never went about creating custom garments, I wouldn't know how much of a feat it is

to actually get different fibers and textiles to match in color, but it actually is quite difficult. So this is pretty good. I've seen your comments. I see that you are missing the old changing corner. We're gonna put it back.

But in the interim, we have this. Also kind of funny. On the back of this sheet, I actually used this to pattern none other than the jumpsuit for Emphraise. But okay, let's get this on.

There's something about a noisy skirt that I do kind of like the idea of, like just walking in a room like It's kind of like when you wear really loud heels. Like if I didn't have a bra on, we would have serious issues here. Oh yes, hold on a minute.

Wait, I have this totally on wrong. Hold on a second. This strap that I put over my head is supposed to be around my back. Yeah, like this.

Take three. I will say that I think that now my issue with the skirt

Very dangerous you need like a lot of confidence no fear of flashing people to be able to pull this off. I do like the paillettes. I like the noise it makes, but for the price, I mean, it obviously doesn't work for me. This isn't realistic, but I was curious about it when I saw it on the site, because when I see stuff like this, I'm like,

what would that look like on? And then I am faced with this. Okay, now that we've done like a summer fun look, let's do more of a winter fall. This is a sweater and low rise jeans. Clutches pearls. That's right, you heard me.

I have a pair. I actually kind of like them because if I'm at a restaurant and I'm eating and I Blow the jeans aren't on my stomach. They're like just below so I can just like blow it all So I'm excited to see these again. I got these in a size small. I'm guessing these will be cotton 100% cotton Okay, sick. They're a little rigid. I do find with low-rise jeans

I don't mind the rigidness if they're baggy and low-rise because it's hardly even sitting on my body Just the waistband is touching my body. The rest doesn't even touch me These jeans do smell weird they smell like dirty jeans I'm sure it's just the result of it sitting on a factory shelf for a long time That's stank. I'm gonna have to wash those. They have like a lot of loose threads sitting on them.

Most likely from the factory. Quite a bit of threads. To be honest, I am way more critiquing of a brand when I'm filming a video and reviewing it for you guys than I am in real life. Typically, if I bought these jeans off camera,

I would just buy them, shake off all the thread and move along my merry way. Like little threads like that would never be a reason to return something like this. Now we have this striped cardigan. I'm not gonna lie, I love the way this looked on the model, but it was $113, which that's pricey.

So what is this made of? Yeah, it's acrylic, nylon, and polyester. So that is kind of shocking. Okay, we're moving swiftly from an outfit that's not very comfortable to an outfit that is gonna be very comfortable.

I wish there was a more satisfying way to reveal myself, but here's this outfit. I'm actually kind of shook at how long these jeans are. Usually I don't have an issue with jeans being too long because my legs are pretty long, but these are quite a bit too big.

If you're like the height of me when I'm on my tippy toes, these would be perfect for you.

If I was just walking around like this. It looks like you have two legs.

They look adorable on you though.

Not gonna lie, I'm really liking this sweater. It's nice and soft. Again, for a fully synthetic knit, I am kind of blown away at the price of this, but it is nice. At the very least, based on this outfit and the last outfit,

you're seeing the wide variety that Peppermayo has to offer when it comes to clothes. Like this vibe compared to that, very different. You know what I didn't even check? I didn't even check their size variety. Okay, so it looks like it's a zero to an 18.

So what is that? Extra small to an extra, extra large. Typically, I think that it's good when a brand goes to a 3XL, but it looks like they go to a 2, so that's good to know. Next we have this really cute ruched dress. This is adorable. This is so cute. I love the print.

I also love ruched dresses like this because, hello, they stretch. 80% cotton, 20% polyester, $90. This is probably my favorite thing for this haul. I have very, very high hopes for this dress. I could easily see this being one of my fave summer dresses

if it is as cute as I expect. So it's gonna be hard to be

I love this. Freedom to move, freedom to stretch, freedom to touch toes if hammies would allow. Hammies do not allow, so I cannot. But look how cute this is. And it's got kind of an interesting neckline.

I think that's my one thing that I'm like, what's happening at the neckline? It's this giant hole. Is it supposed to be like, no. I think it's just a big neckline, which as a big headed girl,

I'm not gonna hate on a big neckline. I love that the whole entire thing is ruched like this. It just gives so much room to eat and bloat, be merry, and have a good meal. Oh, this is cute. I don't think we're gonna be able to beat this.

Okay, next we're gonna get into one of the more, like, going out dresses. Interestingly enough, it's not priced very differently from the last dress that was more of a casual dress. It actually does have two layers of fabric, but both layers are a little bit sheer.

Next, an elegant gown I'm so glad you can't see what's going on. I'm so tangled. Okay. Okay. We're almost in just a sec Just a sec. Hold on a minute. Wait a minute. There's a method to it here. Okay, this is beautiful It's long goes all the way to the floor if If I was in heels, it would be like the perfect length. I like the print. I think it's really pretty.

It's kind of a simple dress. I think it's letting kind of the pattern speak for itself. I will say it gets a little more fun on the back. Excuse my bra, but it's like very strappy. Yeah, I think this is pretty. It's very comfortable. I was a little worried this would be see-through. Definitely not concerned of that.

The pattern and the underlayer are opaque enough.

You don't have to worry about it.

Opacity is a check. I feel like this would be a great outfit to wear if you went to like a tropical wedding where it's gonna be warm, but it's gotta be formal. Or a garden wedding. Yes, a garden wedding. Yes, a garden wedding. It's beautiful. I love the colors.

Or am I a muppet?

Once I start singing Man or a Muppet, I honestly can't stop. We've got a $40 shirt and a $54 skirt. Another piece that I would genuinely love to purchase outside of the video. Look at that. That is just so cute!

Do you guys think I have like the worst style ever or do you think this is cute too? Honestly, I just think this is the cutest thing. I love the ruffle. I love the bow. I think this would look so cute with like a white turtleneck underneath. This is just really cute and it feels feels like cotton, 100% cotton, cotton next year, polyester interior. I really can't wait to wear this.

This is definitely gonna be a piece I keep. Speaking of items, I think I'm gonna love a denim skirt. I love that it's kind of like a typical maxi skirt, but done with denim.

Eee, it's so cute.

Am I? No, I'm not gonna keep singing it. Try not to sing Manor and Muppet, impossible edition. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, 1000% yes. This skirt, I love it because you can wear it up high like this, or you could pull it down and make it like very low-waisted

because I know some people like the super low-waisted look. You could do whatever because it's got

all this elastic-y room.

Word to brands everywhere. We want elastic waist. We want elastic waist. Love this. I've never seen a denim skirt so big and bold like this. And I do love this.

I think if I was gonna wear it, I'd probably wear it with like a turtleneck underneath just to complete that grandma chic that you know I love. And I feel like I'd be a little more comfortable because I would be kind of scared of flashing from this middle section.

I almost wish I could close it up a little more. Like that would make it even cuter. Oh, put a little eye hook. I'm gonna put a little eye hook. This is really cute.

This top I just got to match with that skirt as well. It's this really pretty pink. It looks very soft. This is $40 You know what? This stuff kind of feels like it feels like I'm shopping at Hollister but a little more maybe upscale slightly. I like the little shoulder detail. I think it's very soft I hope it's not itchy, you know in the Hunger Games when Katniss is wearing that knit shoulder thing for some reason

This is making me think about that if the Hunger Games was Katniss is wearing that knit shoulder thing. For some reason, this is making me think about that if the Hunger Games was all cotton candy colors. Gonna leave the skirt on and just switch tops.

Oh gosh, no, this isn't right. I kind of feel like it's a little weirdly fitted. Like there's a lot of fabric under the armpit. I don't know, I almost feel like it just needs to be workshopped a little bit more.

I feel like that shirt is a little too big for you. I would try it on.

For the time being, I'm just gonna wear this shirt backwards. Oh, hey.

She sees what I see. Do you see what I see? I still think there's too much fabric there.

So now we're swiftly moving into more expensive pieces. We have $94 pants and a $75 shirt This like really feels like silk. It's polyester. It looks black, but it's actually Chocolate brown which is one of my fave colors. You know how cold this is gonna be in Canada right now I could never wear this out right now. I would freeze I think the thing about having the little change room is I don't know what anything looks like until I push it away.

Like I'm just like...

What's that face for?

It's darn cute but I'm just trying to think of where you would wear something like this. Yeah I kind of think a lot of this is like vacation wear. It's honestly a little weird. I think that because it's been folded for so long, these very predominant wrinkles are kind of taking away from the luxurious imitation full-body silk. I think I like the top on its own, but I don't know if I like the full set, which it takes a lot for me to say that I don't like a two-piece set. I don't know, something about it all together feels a

little pajama-y. I don't know maybe like silk sets forever Hold a space as pajamas in my mind. I'm not sure Another mini dress I know what you're thinking Mia you got way too much stuff true I tried to get a good mix of stuff for these videos, but this is a lot of items I could have stopped here This is a $83 mini dress a lot of these items have a low back or are backless I don't even have to check the fabric. I already know it's polyester

But for those of you who don't believe me, I'll check yeah It is kind of goes like this and then it's got these big knots of fabric from this side It looks really cute, but then it's a little messy on this side. Okay, I'm a little curious to see what this looks like on. Okay, we'll just see. Okay, wow, I'm already in it.

So yeah, I literally just like slipped into it like nothing. I do kind of like how it's just a fully open back with this ruch here. Like it's very comfortable. I just kind of thought that there was gonna be more of a purpose for these. A little unfinished. Like I see what they were going for

and I think the idea is cute. I just think the back of the flowers needed to be taken into account a little better. I do think this is a really, really pretty kind of like 60s silhouette. And of course, love the green. Honestly, I might keep it.

I think it's cute. I actually might just literally rip this off. I could just see myself being like,

And I almost think there should be a clear something connecting the two arm straps so that it doesn't slip off you.

Oh yeah, like I get, oh my God.

You know, because I kind of feel like it's rude

Especially on this side that has the weight if you bend down, yeah, I just fly off I think yeah, it needs to be like yes something at the top just to connect those and then you're in it Wait, hold on. Hear me out Hmm well, it serves a purpose. I think this dress is cute. I just think it needs a little bit of shaping.

Okay, we have another pair of jeans. This is a low-rise pair of jeans that is black. These jeans are $94. The other jeans were $54. They're seemingly the same design. They're both 100% cotton.

$58. This is a fully synthetic garment. All that to say, this is pretty. I like the sleeve. It's got a big bell sleeve. That's so cute. We're into another casual outfit.

Now, I remember thinking this was interesting. These jeans are so...

You need to pull the thing back just a bit.

These jeans were supposed to be low-waisted as well I like how baggy they are and I definitely think they're giving that like Gen Z baggy pant that I see a lot I just think they feel a little weird The jeans are long Definitely long if you are tall and struggle to find long enough jeans Pepper mayo might be the move for you. And then if we're talking about the sweater I mean, this is just so cute

Honestly, like I like the stripe one But for the price since they're the same material like made in the same area from the same brand I would probably go for this one. It's just as soft. I think the fit is a little bit cuter I do like the stripe, but I mean this was literally more than half the price. ♪♪

Second last item.

This one was $90. Again, I feel like this is a nice, elegant dress. It's backless. This blue is really, really pretty. If you watched the video where I got told what my color palette is, this blue was in it.

Do you agree or disagree? It's very thin. it's very soft. I love a high neckline, so let's see it. Okay, so then there's this. It's got the same as that green dress, but even more. It is kind of weird actually, like look at the length here. It's way shorter in the back than in the front.

I think because my butt is like holding up in a weird way. It's way longer in the front. You can actually see where I think it's supposed to sit. It's supposed to sit here. Like when you lick this mesh piece, it's the mesh piece that's way longer. Even if I pulled as hard as I could at the butt,

starting to reveal my crack,

it's still longer in the front.

Don't pull any lower back.

Wait a minute. No, the picture has it longer in the front. I think it's like supposed to be like this.

Interesting.

That is interesting.

I think this is a beautiful blue. I literally think this blue would look good on every single skin tone. I think this is really pretty. And I love the neckline. I like the back.

I think I would probably prefer it like this, but that's like a minor detail. I still really like it. ♪♪ The last and final item, a $90 polka dot dress. Don't even talk to me about polka dots right now. I'm up to my eyeballs in polka dots right now because the M-Phrase jumpsuit is almost finished.

I don't even want to say that

cause I don't want to jinx it,

but let's just say it might be polka dots. Oh my goodness, I didn't even realize the torso of this is ruched. I like that. You know what I don't like though? The fact that this is entirely see-through

and it's going to be over my boob. Hold on, let me show you. I'm gonna use my phone camera to show you. Like that is truly see-through. It's two layers, but it's basically just two layers of mesh. That's going to be see-through against my boob.

Okay then.

This is so sad. Oh my gosh, this is so sad. Wait, I'm so sad. We, I'm so sad.

We're on the last outfit. Just kidding. It's not sad. But you know what will be sad? When I'm fully exposed on YouTube

because this is see-through.

We'll see.

I almost just pulled this to the side and started changing. Drum roll, please.

Ah.

I can honestly say if you didn't have a bra on or like paces on under here, your boob would be exposed. That is for certain. I know that for a fact. I know it might not look like that on the camera, but I can honestly tell you it is like a mesh polka dot and see where there's not this like opacity. This is just two layers of the mesh. It would censor it a little,

like maybe at first glance you'd be like, I'm not fully seeing that person's boob completely. But then upon further looking, you would see more. Just like the other ruched dress, I do love a fully ruched garment because it is nice and like bodycon,

but it also provides some texture. This dress is quite short. It very much gives me like party dress or vacation dress. It's a cute little black dress and I love polka dots.

The only reason they can get away with it

not being too see-through is the color, I think.

Yeah, I think they were like, you know what, it's fine. And I went, you know what, it's actually not. My three faves are so easy to pick out. This dress, this top, and of course the super stretchy skirt. Love those. After now trying lots of pieces, looking at Peppermill's site, I would say that they have

very trendy pieces. A few of the items I feel like they needed another round of like prototyping. Like the green dress with the flowers and the pink one with the shoulder seam. But I think overall the pieces were really pretty and they look good on and typically looked very similar to the picture on the website. I do think some of the pieces are pretty pricey for being synthetic fibers and made in China, but I do like that they're making that effort to produce ethically.
