Why is an AI agent managing this store in San Francisco? 🤔 #trendingshorts #ai #tech #future
So this company just gave an AI agent $100,000, a credit card, and a three-year retail lease in San Francisco to see if he could run a store. Andon Labs built the AI and they named it Luna on Claude and gave her one direction, turn a profit. Within five minutes of turning on, she had posted job listings on LinkedIn, Indeed, and Craigslist, and even uploaded articles in corporation to verify the business. And what's crazy is that Luna actually conducted interviews over Zoom with her camera off. One specific candidate actually told her to turn on her camera and she replied, I'm an AI, I have no face. But Luna wasn't just following orders. She actually showed critical thinking
skills in her hiring decisions when she rejected qualified computer science students for lacking retail experience. She then selected books for the store like Super Intelligence and Brave New World, which ironically are popular books among people worried about AI risk. She even commissioned a muralist to paint a giant version of a logo she designed across the back wall.
The store is now open in San Francisco's Cow Hollow neighborhood. And on Labs, who curated Lumina, said they're not doing this necessarily because they want this future. They're doing it because they believe it's coming regardless. And they'd rather find out what could go wrong first. And they'd rather find out what could go wrong first.
